3 rules of thumb for offering advice in Unicorn Overlord;
1. If you critique a certain matchup always provide timecode of that matchup or I won't take the advice because I simply have no way of understanding it. (Context)
2. If you are offering a universal tip for a class/unit type/etc. Try to clearly state that so I'm in the right frame of mind and not wondering if the first rule of thumb was addressed or not.
3. And Double check your own work that it is accurate to your knowledge and if you're unsure you should say so. Too many state their "I think" in a declarative statement which can be frustrating for me because it's impossible to parse from those who actually know versus have a hypothesis.
You’ve likely figured this out by now, but combat effectiveness is not at all lowered by being in the back row like in most games. So almost no reason to stick DPS characters like Housecarls into the front row. Also keep in mind the earlier hint the game gave about trying to avoid putting 2 units in the same column or they will be vulnerable to spears. Somewhat unintuitive but there’s no defensive benefit to being directly behind another unit rather than off to one side (but still in the back row).
This is the thing that is driving me crazy with these team comps, I hope he figured it out at some point 😅 (probably did)
Just why does everything I see of this game make me love it more?
you and me both friend
Trivia : Coquillage (name of the village) is the french word for sea shell
Social rapport, gathering, and rebuilding towns make this even more awesome. Hodrick needs to get moving or he'll be left behind lol.
Easy fix to that is have someone else in the unit as the leader. Movement speed is decided based on who the unit leader is.
This game is taking my fave elements from a bunch of different games and putting it together into a Vanillaware art style, how could it not be a banger!?
55:47 It's explained rather poorly, but in my time with the game I realized that a unit still has it's full combat capabilities when it's stamina reaches zero, it just stops being able to move. However, if they enter a fight when they're manually set to rest, your whole team will have zero AP and PP. I think it's made this way so that you could intentionally send a high combat/mobility and low stamina unit into a large swathe of enemies, take them all out, then set them to rest as your backups arrive to cover for them. Alternatively, by maneuvering another unit close by the unit with no stamina, you can use a battle to swap their positions and slowly daisy chain them closer to an objective, or otherwise maybe garrison a unit and get in a fight nearby to swap the zero stamina unit onto the garrison. The use cases are incredibly niche, but also much more forgiving than if units were set to auto-rest.
I come to this realization later in the demo. My assumptions near the start had me wondering why Rest wasn't automatic but it is in fact a feature and the right choice.
@@AnalogVernacular Also, you can use items or valor skills to restore stamina instead of waiting, while if the unit went to auto wait it would have to finish before moving again
literally want to purchase a switch now so I can play this on the couch with my wife.
I welcome this swap from OG 64. It had a rest system like this but it based on distanced travelled on foot. Now, you're just limited by number of battles, but it looks like there's skill and items to restore, just like the previous fatigue system.
alittle late but your comment section is very respectful. i also love the game. i am just watching the demo content until i can afford the full game
Consider my subscription an expression of my gratitude for taking the time to play and upload such an excellent Let's Play to UA-cam, good sir! I've seen other walkthroughs of this game before (even those with the Japanese dub), and I can honestly say that I've enjoyed yours the most 😃
I hate Vanillaware. They keep making those ABSOLUTELY AMAZING GAMES back to back and never port them to PC. I'll never forgive this company. 10/10
You seem conflicted haha
Hehe I suspect every archer is named rolf
Not that it is as useful knowing now, but just thought I would share in case u hadn’t tried yet. Each shop in the town sells unique weapons usually that can have special moves to help with some situations. An example being, this Rolf stage that has a lot of thief’s making basically everyone but Rolf not that great. However in I think the first town you unlocked they sell a spear that gives you truestrike , making it so you could hit evasive chars with a spear user too! So when checking weapons make sure not to just look at base stats but any potential abilities it may give aswell 😊
Yep I get there. The biggest issue tends to be early game PP maxed at 1 makes the potential for these items difficult to utilize until a bit further in.
Hello. It is insane that this game is not coming to PC ever. What a loss.
Never say never. But yeah, probably not anytime soon since vanillaware seems to be so against PC for some reason. Gonna have to be some change in leadership over there to make it happen at this point.
I don't trust Gammel either, but I let him go. I hope I don't regret it.
nah i sent him to jail and killed his buddy on ochlys quest
@@konstantinos-iliasstrempas4594 me too and I don't know if I regret it. I already know what happens, I'm beyond where they're a focus
@@konstantinos-iliasstrempas4594 Wrong choice he joins your party later.
You already finished the game but I'll still say this you letting them go is always the better choice.
