    22:20 amazing. I had this exact thought yesterday morning after training in the garden. No 2 body shapes are exactly the same, therefore every martial expression will be different. (I was having an imaginary discussion with people who are too quick to criticise how a certain martial expression looks on the surface - of which there are many who make this complaint.) When one realises this, it can remove some anxiety about 'doing it correctly' when that self criticism is based on replicating the form of a more senior practitioner. Another very informative video Master Yang. Thank you 👊☯️
    edit: I recall also i was thinking it is like the same grape variety giving a different flavour/expression to the wine produced depending on where in the world it is grown 👍🏼

    Hi Sifu Hai Yang,
    Appreciate you making these videos for greater exposure to the community.
    I've dabbled in xingyiquan and other internal arts for quite a while now and I've come across this term "Orderly in 4 extremities" from xingyi and would seek your thoughts/advice on the matter.
    the details are as follows
    4 Extremities of Xingyi
    "The tongue is the extremity of the muscles; the fingernails and toenails are the extremities of the tendons; the head hair and body hair are the extremity of the blood; the teeth are the extremity of the bones. Touch the tongue to the upper palate to settle the qi so it can descend to Dantian and make the muscles strong.Curve the fingers and toes inward slightly so that qi pours into the nails and tendons. When the hair stands up all over the body, and on the head like pushing up a hat, there is courage and the whole body is strengthened. Gently clamping or touching the teeth together enables qi to flow into the bone marrow"
    From my understanding,
    The statement refers that a practitioner should adopt a physical posture where every joint starting from the feet exerts constant pressure all the way to the tongue/palate to create a unified posture, and how the physicality of such posture can create an effect on one's mental state where one can feel increased confidence, vitality & health from adopting such posture.
    I do have a feeling that my understanding to be limited as I wasn't formerly trained by any master, and would like your inputs on this.
    Thank you.

    Theoretically most of the knowledge I have learned and put it to real use is actually coming from him ,3 powers,3 levels of change out and inward,3 breathing techniques, connection to Dao was very essential to him ,the difference between stillness and growing the root , reading some of his teachings I understood the importance of using the old methods for changing the bones, tendons and especially the final stage of cleaning the back brain which is the real goal if someone wants to grow, that is why lifting up from the spine and doing it properly as one full circle could help ,also the principal of steps and hitting I started to apply Yi , everybody knows to step hard and crush when he punching,but he said that in second level there is no sound ,this open the door for so many things for me ,also I understand what is short power from his teachings and most importantly I remember he was quote many proverbs and this helps me a lot,like the absence of Will is a true Will or Dao is not away from the man,the man beginning to act and Dao
    is going away! Really for me the little things like that open my eyes, starting to get interested in The book of changes and how old Chinese characters in alfabet looks like , little by little things became more clean and I understand how much ignorant I am even when it comes to my own being, know yourself and your enemy 100 wins,but I am not knowing even myself,how could I know my enemy? I am very much sorry for the post, very long , just wanted to share the respect and appreciation for real,I hope you don't mind, thanks for the nice topics- I am learning something new every time!

    Perhaps this was not your intention sir, but my take-away from this very cool video reinforced my beliefs as a young man when I first learned of G.Y.S. That belief is: Not even a prison cell can stop a man from developing himself. A 5x5 foot space is plenty room for that man to keep his strength and remain a threat. And chains can't stop the spirit if the heart and the body are aligned.

    a very important point made by SIFU the stepping in XING YI is capable of generating more power and concomitant release of energy through FA JING.. (.this seems very obvious now that SIFU has pointed it out... but I did not deduce it on my own ) ... than BA GUA...BA GUA seems important for evasion and circling around an opponent's blind side ( but that is my deduction ...not SIFU's )

    You forgot to mention that Wang Xiangzhai was also his disciple! And that standing practice in Santi Shi was very important in his teaching. That had a big impact on the development of Yi or Dacheng Quan.

    • @HaiYangChannel
      @HaiYangChannel  3 роки тому

      the main purpose of this video is to introduce Guo Yunshen, not his students. Also, as for Wang Xiangzhai is Guo's disciple or not is still questionable. So, better to "forget" him in this video.

    • @Gieszkanne
      @Gieszkanne 3 роки тому

      @@HaiYangChannel You mentioned Sun Lutang as famous disciple and his changes to Xing Yi so I thoght Wang XiangZhai should be also mentioned. I never hearde that there is any doubt that he was also a disciple of Guo Yunshen. He is mentioned everywhere as his disciple. But that standing practise was important in his teaching must be true because Sun Lutang also emphasized it.

    Hello, how did Guo Yunshen add extra power to his woodfist without striking say a punch bag whilst in prison and whilst wearing fetters .
    Did he just perfect his body mechanics for the half step?
    I have heard he explained the mechanics were the same as how one would jump over a ditch.
    Is there any history to explain how he trained in the fetters in prison and how he trained once out of prison?
    Did static stance training take over due to lack of space in his cell he taught Wang Xiangzhai to standstill .
    As Wang's main training was static stances for yiquan maybe this is how xingyi evolved.
    What is your opinion on this?

    Interesting half step story. But Chinese culture has tendency to make up a story for a creative work or giving merit for a famous person.

    • @lsm5
      @lsm5 3 роки тому +1

      Sure, that tendency is something he calls "Cultural Utopianism" and he actively rebuts it in his videos. Please watch his other videos, especially on Chen Tai Chi debate and also the one on Wudang where he talks about it. But, Guo Yunshen's story mentioned in this video is not Cultural Utopianism. He is a legit part of Xingyi history and you can look at the practice before and after his time to see his contribution.

    • @HaiYangChannel

      I think all the cultures have the same tendency. So, being able to distinguish the core concept from the smog is important.
