Motorcycle Traction Control Explained | KTM

  • Motorcycle Traction Control Systems helps to accelerate, brake and steer properly and efficiently, which makes riding safer and easier. It is particularly useful when riding over slippery surfaces, as it can aid in maintaining enough grip to help the bike stay on the road while increasing speed under these conditions.
Motorcycle Traction Control systems (TSC) uses wheel-speed sensors to gauge the speed at which the wheels are spinning. If one wheel is spinning more quickly than the others, it would be easy to lose control. As soon as the sensors pick up a difference in speed, the Traction Control system encourages the brake to lessen the speed of that wheel so that it slows down in line with the speed of the other wheels. This limits the chances of skidding or sliding off the road.

Translation for street riders: stay off of the throttle when your bike is leaned over in a slick corner, and you’ll be fine.
