@@cenewman007 Some of those HBO shows like Succession, Killing Eve, Barry etc have very strong writing and characters. Netflix is part of the web space but yes Ozark can go head to head with top content tv shows too.
Agree! However, they should not extend it after 5 seasons, then, it would become repetitive and boring. Take a look at "Breaking Bad" - 5 seasons, great formula, just well structured, and excellent character development...on the other hand, "The Walking Dead" became boring and ridiculous after 7 seasons.
Bateman killed it in season 3, I’m blown away by the new additions to the new season and the continual excellent performance by Bateman and his old cast
How good was Wendy’s brother? I feel like they cast an actual bi-polar person and then filmed him freaking out. He was incredible. There were a bunch of subtle moments before his full break where you could tell shit was about to go down. Very well done.
So Jason Bateman doesn't realize that he's a genius as far as acting, directing and editing goes. At least he enjoys what he does. Ozark is an awesome show.
Jason Batemans acting is by far one of best I’ve ever seen! He never overdoes anything and it’s just like he’s not even acting! You can see it in his interviews, he’s exactly like all his characters he’s played
No wonder he can direct and edit himself during shots. When you've got acting natural pinned down, you can focus on other variables for the shot. Very talented.
I love his character in Ozark. He can be so cold and calculating but then sometimes he just can't help but let his emotions out about the situation he and his family are in. Very well done.
i just love this guy...... before ozark, i thought he only did comedies and never took him seriously....... but after watching ozark?? ........ god damn, i'm in love with the guy
Jason touched on one of the most important things for an actor to understand. Many actors are only looking at their performance and not seeing the film as a whole. An actor needs to consider how their performance will fit with the editing, sound, music, camera angle/movement, lighting, the scenes that come before and after, etc.
Honestly he is the kinda fellow who though you don't know him personally, you just wanna see him win. He is the sole reason why I watch Ozark. never saw a trailer. never saw a promo. never stumbled unto it on tv. Just Jason.
As the editor and director of my projects, what Jason says is true. You learn to be an editor as things are going on especially when you are the director as well. The other actors are jealous because acting is only one role. Jason is successfully handling 3. That takes special talent and the ability to pay attention to detail, be flexible and extremely organized.
Jason Bateman's experience in comedy makes his acting as Marty so much more entertaining and convincing. His little expressions and timing is so magical and vivid that you can almost see inside Marty Byrde's brain and understand him a multi-dimesnional, complex person.
I just want to say as someone with horrible anxiety problems, i am so jealous of Jason Bateman. He always seems so calm and removed from the ridiculousness of life the way i wish i could be. While other people are reacting, he is always observing and kind of rejecting. It feels like he's better than us. Because he kind of is. He's not down in the mud with humanity, he's above it, chuckling at it, and finding a calm solution to it. I like that. I strive for that. And i fail miserably.
I have been thinking to watch Ozark for almost 2 years . When I started to watch I finished it under 2 weeks. That for really an amazing show and Jason Bateman is just lit, born for the role of Martin Byrd
Finished binged watching all 3 seasons of ozark just a week ago.....what an amazing series. My Expection were low but oh boi the show turned out really good.A must watch NetFlix Series.
Honestly any movie hes in he was amazing, when I heard he was making a series I subscribed to netflix just for it, and was not disappointed. Season 1 was fucking phenomenal and season 2 surprisingly was so much better its just so fucking amazing watching this dude act.
@Omar Joseph It irritates me how he gets typecast in a lot of comedy movies. But deep down this TV show, shows he knows the ins, and outs of film making. Hopefully this will get him the space he needs to direct more serious films.
I have not seen a Jason Bateman performance, for decades until I saw Ozark. I remember watching him as a child actor he was very good then, and he’s developed into a brilliant actor now. In addition to being a brilliant actor a great director and obviously very smart, I really like how humble he is, and how he always gives credit to the people he works with, being part of a great team. I think he’s one of the best contemporary talents in Hollywood.
Finished season 3 two nights ago. The ending made me scream out loud. Lol...First time that's ever happened to me while watching a TV show! It's amazing. So good.
Jason Bateman is the man. Before The Gift, I had only seen him in comedies so I thought he was a one trick pony but he blew me away in The Gift with Joel Edgerton. When first saw the trailer for Ozark, I was very intrigued and Jason has been great in Ozark. The fact that he's directing episodes is awesome too. He's clearly good at directing. I actually like some of Jason Bateman's comedies that he's starred in as well.
Ben stiller and him are by the most talented actors / and directors imo. After watching Walter mitty ,tropic of thunder I was blown away ...as for Bateman he's such a good actor he really knows how to play characters well ..the first episode of Ozark pulled me in instantly.
Jason Bateman is ridiculously talented both in his acting ability and also in his directing. Ozark is quite possibly the greatest drama I've ever watched.
love Jason bateman. he was getting a little arrogant here in some ways but telling the truth about what he thought. when he said, you are all talented enough to understand this, I could see how that would offend them. but the show is awesome. best I've ever seen on Netflix and while I was watching it I did see that tone that Jason was talking about and figured that was his intention before ever seeing this interview. very talented guy. hope there are more seasons of Ozark. plus, love the surrounding, the Ozarks, beautiful, quiet, unique, mysterious, rural... thanks Jason for creating this. Laura Linney and "Ruth Langmore" are amazing too! congrats guys.
I love how actors are turning into directors! From Charlie Chaplin to Clint Eastwood to Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper and Jason Bateman. Talent level 99: unlocked!
Really is the best on Netflix so far...extremely talented cast, from oldie but goodie characters Ruth and Darlene, Jonah and Charlotte, Sheriff Nix, the faithfuls Marty & Wendy, to newcomer Ben and Helen , it’s the very best pulled on screen for some of the best viewing available. This should be cleaning up all awards possible! Jason Bateman’s best work yet.
I am so glad Jason is so young. He will create more masterpieces....will be great to see the films that win him oscars for best director. ..before I die...I hope...
Ozark is Jason's big show for sure. Great cast and crew obviously. It must be very interesting for him to exec produce, act, direct, he prob does some re-writes, works on the editing and deals with concepts for the production . The idea for the 4 symbols that open the show that spell Ozrk with fore shadowing pics of what's going to happen, was Jason's idea. I saw an interview where he talks about knowing David Fincher's graphics guy and assigned this task to come up with the 4 symbol artwork. He gave him a list of key points of each episode so he could come up with symbols that relate to those plot points which also give you hint of what will happen in the episode, pretty clever. It must be amazing to have that kind of control of a great show like this which is one of the best Netflix original shows in their history in my opinion.
It took me a few episodes to pick up on what that symbol was...neat idea. Now I'm studying that symbol at the start of each episode trying to figure out what is in store.
I went from mildly disliking Bateman to thinking he could be one of my favourite actors and now directors after hearing is passion and vision. I think exactly like him when it comes to deciding on what films to watch or TV shows to invest in.
Jason you're great actor I love watching you the Ozark is awesome serious I hope you guys continue making this I'm very interested in this show it's very addicting

not just yours. It is.

Julius Kim San YESSS 😂
That’s why some of these actors it’s hard to judge their talent cause they sometimes just be themselves and it works...
Julius Kim yea hes very natural
He is always playing him self
Ozark might be Netflix's crowning jewel. Just finished binging season 3 and it was phenomenal!

Wow, actors talking about what they really know, acting, instead of public policy and politics. Refreshing, interesting, and worth watching.
Interesting conversation. It's discussions like these that showcase how much intellectual rigor acting and directing take.
