- Sup guys today I'm here to show you how to save your engine from low oil pressure failure by changing and securing the Oil Pump Nut for E36s! The job is actually simple but is very necessary for any track, drift, or crazy hard driven E36 that sees high RPM and experiences a lot of vibration!

Thanks for the video,an excellent idea,easy to drill the nut too,done from 2 faces,no need to be exactly in line;
but you need a torque wrench and do a proper twisting of the safety wire, not that bird's nest.
Thank you for Great video. I like your humor.
Interesting prevention fix.
This is awesome information, I also just live saying oil pump nut
Is this job possible to do with the motor still in the car at all
Ima get you that Zf sometime this week 👍🏽
I normally just give the nut a little hit with a center punch to secure them. I didn't even know they make these safety wire nuts...
There is a right way of safety wiring the nut. That still has a possibility of coming loose.
Please do some research.
you should just get a 6-speed out of an e46, you can also convert the e46 SMG to a 6-speed manual as well, the SMG you will probably be able to find for cheap, then just convert it over, the internals are all the same
will e46 6 speed manual tans mate directly to e36 engine ? I've wanted to 6 speed swap my 5 speed manual e36 for a while
@@joeg2286 I believe it does just bolt up, but I havent actually tried it to verify
I know this is like 6 months too late, but that lifting bracket is for the m50 motor I think. For some reason they are 2 different sizes. I had to do the same thing when I did my m52 swap
Hmm good to know
got a bimmerworld package the other day. those gummy bears were a tasty surprise
I did that. Shaft proceeded to shear in half.
We gonna have to make a video of you teaching me how to do donuts and burnouts cause I don’t have one clue one how to. 🤦🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
That's in the future. Gonna teach Sam but not while she's pregnant
itsBlack yea not while she pregnant gotta keep her and the baby safe, but that would have been a crazy title and thumbnail for a video
I got a package from bimmer world of course came with gummy bears but crazy thing is another company “Black Forest industry” also sent me gummy bears was very strange coincidence
Damn I bout two zfs for 300 bucks a couple years ago
Damn lol
There is totally a right and wrong way to do this. And that little length of wire won’t do anything. The wire should be twisted and then wrapped around the nut in the direction of tightening the nut and then twisted on the gear. Always twist the wire in opposite directions too.
As an aircraft maintenance technician, the safety wire part had me cringing the whole time.
“$750 for a zf fuck no” nowadays Zf’s whole drive train/swaps going for $1500 🥲
That's is NOT how to safety wire a nut! You have to tension the wire in the direction of tightening the nut.
Yeah it was fixed in another video lol
No lie that thumbnail looks ghetto af lol
First time I've seen the mod I was like wtf is going on here
The dumbest mod i have seen in my life. The nut is left thread. It cant come loose because the engine turns The other way so it gets tight when engine runs. You only add weight to a perfekt balanced gear, that makes it woble. Like a unbalanced wheel. Oh and imagine what happens if that wire gets loose, and it will, bye bye chain. Cheers from a german mechanic
BMW themselves do the safety wire when the pan is removed. There are hundreds of documented instances where the nut has come lose and destroyed engines. I just did mine at 134k mikes and the nut was loose. Safety wires have been used in aviation and military for decades. It is cheap insurance when done correctly.
Im not sure what’s going in here - you need to use proper safety wire pliers and the wire should be tight and in the direction of tightening.. so it doesn’t allow the nut to loosen.
@@bcastromusic well said, in aviation it used to be an art, probably still is, pretty looking twisted wire
