- More than seventeen taxi associations halted operations on the KwaZulu-Natal's South Coast leaving thousands of commuters stranded.
Operators are bemoaning and allege that the Public Transport Enforcement Unit - Operation Shanela is harassing them.
Disgruntled taxi operators say they will not operate until police release more than 30 minibuses impounded during the anti-crime initiative.

Why r they complaining? I've been on a taxi from town to school, I had to hold up the door the whole way,I HAD TO STOP THE DOOR FROM FALLING THE WHOLE RIDE and that time it was raining... most of those taxis need to be impounded...
Get rid of all the taxi's and bring back the municipal bus services like many years ago, there was less problems.
Also reinstate the railway system between Port Shepstone and Durban so commuters can travel to various places in between without fear.
Only way that can happen is if people stopped voting for the ANC and voted for a government that actually cares for the People of South Africa. But that will never happen.
You clearly are not among the public transport commuters...
Why do I need to be or something?? To realize what the problem is and how to fix it???
They must lose their licences
I agree, truck drivers and owners must also lose their trucks and licenses. Lots of lives are being lost because of them
Technically, without permits, the taxi drivers shouldn't be out on the road anyway, right? I feel this is less a strike and more them following the law.
I bet the crime will stop when thay not working
Same with the trucks. I bet a lot of lives will be saved if they confiscate them
If they have the receipts I don't see why they are being stopped

Well non existent public transport AND SO the taxis have them by the short and curlies.
Gonna be honest, cut the priority of taxi’s as main supply of cheap transport. Place speed limiters in taxi, speed trackers and do monthly inspections. Also start cracking down on protest on important transport and services, same as they do for Fire and rescues services which are not allowed to protest or facing legality and retrenchment and banning. Ban all protest that inconvenience peoples lives ( doing so will cut out all the unimportant protest happening every day, people don’t like to suffer unless it means fighting against a regime )

Lets assume all black people in SA vote for DA and FF plus, what will they do for because they've done nothing for black when they were still power. What can you do for people you hate?

@@shiftyourmindset2 So with the "little" bugdet Cape town(Western cape) is getting, they can only provide for whites. The national government needs to give them more money so they can do something for blacks and Coloureds. I get your point
