Lived in Fremont. That DANG train woke me up every morning!!! One driver LOVED the horn. Others barely used it! Niles canyon and the Altamont pass area is just beautiful! Cheers!
It's so sad that these F40PH-3C Engines are being replaced by more charger locomotives I sincerely hope these engines go to another commuter railroad or a great home
TexasRailfan21 They are! Two locomotives got their engines bored and will eventually be sent for rebuild and resold. ACE is keeping four F40s for a few more years.
God, I can't believe it, I thought the F25s for Metrolink were worse, yet again, seeing the chargers just kills off the classics like the f40s and p40s, I get that we're modernising to make train travel better and all, but it's sometimes best to keep classics around to keep the railroads alive and well as many may love classic rides over modern sometimes
Shane Walters Like I said the F40s are sticking around, but until the additional trains are added, they’ll be used as backup units. They’ll stick around for years to come!
Such is life. They had to upgrade sometime. Those F40PHs are getting real long in the tooth. And the Chargers really are fantastic. Fast and quick off the line.

I have a train in my city
Are you kidding me? They need TWO of those dang locos to pull FOUR CARS?
Edit: OK, so now one loco can push SEVEN cars just fine!
