CoasterFan2105 Altamont Corridor Express is not replacing their F40PH-3Cs, they’re keeping them. Also Altamont Corridor Express should order Siemens Charger Cars and F59PHIs

I had heard that the 3309 is still stored on the property and the plan is to convert it into a trailer coach depending on funding. That information was from a year or two ago though, so I'm not sure at this point.
I was actually secretly told that back on December 12st 2019 by a certain ACE Engineer (who happened to be a 2000s Coaster Railfan), but I decided not to disclose it until after anyone else did due to the risk of getting them fired.
I have filmed at many of these places (St Mary St, Clark Dr, Agnew Rd, Shinn St)! I remember the shot at 14:00 from the spring in Fremont video and it is my favorite video you have ever filmed. I filmed at those places because of you!
Great Video Mike, Thanks for sharing. I feel fortunate that I get to see and hear them daily as well. I use to fuel Fuel Cal Train's F40's and Amtrak's Genesis Locomotives at the Ole Diridon Yard and at CEMOF before they got their fuel tank farm operating.
Wow, that's really neat. When I was younger, I made a few trips to San Jose and would always spend at least one afternoon there watching the trains. Big changes coming to that place in the next few years. Thanks for the comment!
@@CoasterFan2105 Lots of changes is a understatement, I work for the City of San Jose..... I am naturally a railroad foamer being raised in the confinds of railroad tracks. To me it's the most and purest American thing till this day
I really enjoy these trains, although I'm not happy to see the F40s get replaced by the weird grim and boring chargers like what Metrolink did to replace their F59 fleet and like what Amtrak's doing with the P40 fleet, I'm happy to see the project extend to attract more riders and I hope that it'll stay that way in the future
I'm not sure what the ultimate plan is for the F40s, but it's always possible that they will be upgraded to Tier 4. And in the meantime, there will still be 2 of them in service fortunately. We'll have to see what happens.
Personally, I think the chargers are nice locomotives. My local train is the Pacific Surfliner and I do miss the f59phi’s. However the charger grew on me. I like both of them.
@@CrazyDash9 Ok, I'll admit, Chargers aren't all that bad, I like modernisation sometimes, they look class tbh, but not as class as the P40s or F40s or even the F59s, I'm more if a classic kind of guy, I'm just taking a while to get used to them
This video has a lot of beautiful shots of ACE commuter trains. I definitely want to ride on one of their trains and try out their cafe service, one day.
@@jeremykhn Yes, I have since looked through and can't find any info on it. I know that those two cars were originally intended for that and they may have even done it for a period, but apparently no longer the case.

It’s nice to see vids about trains local to where I live, especially during times like these where service is limited, and it’s recommended to stay home. Also, it’s crazy to think that you’ve been within a mile of where I live, so if I had gone out, I might’ve seen you.
I don't think there's a specific plan yet. They will be removing the engines from 4 of their F40s once the 4 Chargers are all in service but other than that, not sure.
Ace has extended a new route from the first line to San Jose to Sacramento airport, and the second line is Merced to the airport of Natomas and Sacramento.
hey mike do you have any plans to go back to massachusetts to see mbta and downeaster trains because mpi rebuilt a bunch of f40ph's for the mbta and I think it would be cool for you to check them out

I have a video on Metra, but I will probably be doing more at some point. Las year, I was hoping to get enough video clips to do something on the new F59PHIs they got from Amtrak, but I was only able to catch one of them in service.
Daft Question possibly. Numerous times you see the F40PH pushing the carriages at high speed rather than pulling. Is this SAFE, I mean, do the locos ever push the coaches off the track ? I live in Australia, and Drive Car or Loco is always in front pulling. Pushing coaches just seems at odds with what has happened in the past.
Enjoyed the ACE video although as I've mentioned before it would be nice if you could seek out a few more locations when the horn isn't blowing all the time. You can but ask... some may say no, others may be welcoming and supportive.
I do, but they are older videos or they are part of longer videos on the channel. I was planning on doing a Caltrain video, but I wasn't able to get to it last year. Hopefully at some point.
