Unique lines that conjure up, at least in my mind, the difference in dog choice of different kinds of people. One can imagine rougher, poorer people with larger dogs and the more suburban middle-class types opting for smaller lap dogs (I'm being crass here with the stereotyping). There also being a big difference in why people have dogs, larger dogs are more intimidating whilst smaller dogs are just for companionship. Overall though larger dogs are consider by most to be proper dogs, whilst very small dogs are compared to "rats" at least from the people I've known. For him though, the small dog reminds him of a large dog, because in reality he's only dreaming of this world and it is not really him. He's more a large dog kinda guy. That's the way I've always felt about it. Other than that its a few lines that lack the kind of rhyming structure we expect yet it's clearly so memorable, perhaps because it sounds funny or perhaps it's because the imagery strikes us without knowing quite why.

The cost is exclusion and ostracization. My favorite artist hands down.

Some funk some blues some electronic some new wave some experimental you name it. But I always felt a resonation with the minor chords and brutally poetic lyrics. This band is that one in a million that incorporates all of brain poking wishes of what music could be. Damn guys. I love every track I've heard. Its like the doors meets the stooges meets nick cave meets talking heads meets.....
