The gettyimages watermark really completes this video
I was thing the same!! hahaha
Right!?! Was tripping on that 🤣

Can it get more punk?

This is one of the realistic genuine love songs ive ever heard. Its pretty profound
John Prine wrote some bangers for sure.
It’s a cover :)
these are my favorite kind of covers where the artists put there own twist on it without taking anything away
The genius of John Prine, one of the best songwriters of the last 30 years.
@@michaelanderson5747 Prine and Townes Van Zandt are way underrated.
This is the best cover to do John prine justice to date
I absolutely love that the entirety of the video is unpurchased stock footage with the watermark still on it. This is cinematic gold.
The hilarious thing is that that they almost certainly actually bought the footage, and deliberately used the watermarked version for the aesthetic.
Why bother? Can use it with watermark for free🤣
This is possibly the best thing I've ever seen, and I've seen a LOT of things.
They also could have shot it themselves and put the watermark on it.
It´s like "everything is ruined" faith no more videoclip , except they made it that way due to lack of money

One of the best British post punk bands.
this is essential
To me, the best part of this cover is the chord change after "never gonna let you go". In the original, it returns to the major home chord, but this version goes with a minor chord. It adds a brief sense of foreboding to the track, as if there is a momentary sense of doubt, a sense that this "dream" relationship is doomed to fail. It's subtle; it's completely on brand for the Viagra Boys - and it's brilliant.
Matt Sweeney produced this cover. He also recorded a cover of OD’d in Denver (original by Hank Williams Jr) with Bill Callahan and Bonnie Prince Billy that also adds a little emotional complexity to the song. Worth checking out.
Wow!! Your interpretation and the manner you put it in scripture, pays homage to this piece of genius work in a fashion it so deserves.
sound work here and mixing is out of this world.....and that minor chord yeah......makes differense!!!! i love it
@@ryanmcqueen3576 I don't know a major chord from a minor chord but I know exactly what you mean and totally agree.
That was brilliant
Stop the internet, we have perfection.
Its a cover of a song by a man called John Prine. I didnt know either. A damn fine cover in my book, but worth a look at the original. Im a convert.
Going to that minor chord right after "Never gonna let him/her go" was a stroke of genius.
100% got me! Great comment
@@lukedavidjones6125 Thanks! It totally changes up the mood. You're singing along, thinking it's gonna loop back like John Prine's version, but then the minor chord comes in, and you're like, "whoa, what was that?" I love it when bands make little changes like that in their covers.
@@colina1330 Just a little touch of magic when it hit.

Better than any New Country song in the last 25 years!
The change to relative minor on "let her go" is gorgeous. Love the mix of Amyl+Viagra weirdness with a beautiful version of this song.
Yes! Fell in love with the same part(E Minor). I just played the original to see if it was in that and it wasn't.
That was my favourite part too. Gives it such a cool feel
Totally agree, everyone. Exquisite chord change.
I love it, it adds like a kinda melancholy/strange/haunting feel to it.

This is the international super group that we didn't know we needed! Viagra Boys + Amyl and the Sniffers = Some Mutts Need Baseballs and Cigarettes ....

When you take a journey, unsure of the destination and find somewhere amazing every time. Today I landed here. What a beautiful place.
Amy and Nose Man really smash it with this one. Love that nefarious undertone the song has. You can see them clinging on to each other to stay balanced while singing this on karaoke in a redneck bar before driving home under the influence.
I love how she even sings "sundee" rather than "Sunday". She isn't trying to hide her accent like so many singers from here do. She's embracing our horrible accent and it makes me want to cry with joy.
im from canada and i love an aussie accent! nothing horrible about it! :)
The ozzie accent together with the Scottish accent is fucking great.
@@emily-gh9ox thanks for the compliment! Much appreciated. 'Sundee' is very much the Victorian way of saying Sunday so I figure the whole band is Victorian. Their clips are all filmed in Melbourne. Ps. I really like the Canadian accent. It took me years to differentiate it from the American accents but it sounds so much friendlier, much warmer and welcoming.
@@tdb7992 Thank you for the complement! There are subtle accents all over the country but much more noticeable when you live here i think, some are friendly some are not. Very interesting about the Victorian way of saying things.. My mom and late grandma always say Sundee rather than annunciate the full "Sun- Day" as well.. and Saturday is Sare'dee Lmao . Not sure why and I dont notice it with a lot of other canadians.

John Prine sure was a special kind of poet alright.
She takes a licking she keeps on ticking
One of the greatest covers of all time. Period.
Such an interesting take instrumentally, yet the vocal melody is true to John Prine’s original. So good.

Goddamn, this is good. Romantic yet weirdly eerie and uncomfortable. And the video makes it feel like it could've been introduced by Phil Thomas Katt.
Yeah, there is a menace that comes at the end of each "I'm never going to let him go" that turns it into something more foreboding then the Prine song - - for me, it's what makes the cover.
@@kylehetrick2791 Not to mention the completely un-melodic background noise which stands out like a sore thumb (and it's great).

Yes. Mark Gormley style.
I love this song but the line "she takes a likin'" isnt lost on me, very clever song and worth a few watches.
A song that accurately conveys the feeling of two smackheads in love. Beautiful. Belter of a tune.
save for the fact that John Prine (nor Iris DeMent) were 'druggies' by a long shot. This song is more like a lovesong between two very poor people (monetarily) who are not poor of spirit.
