Terrible marketing, like a lot of the Dreamworks gems that failed the box office; Megamind, Monsters Vs Aliens, Rise of the Guardians. That last one was pretty much unknown until it premiered. At least from where I was at the time. And they marketed them to the wrong demographic. One thing that I've noticed with these Dreamworks pics that have cult status, is that it's by adults. Because adults love the humor in these movies. Like the Queen of England joke in Megamind, a kid won't catch onto that. And thus, Shrek is being milked for another sequel, while goldies like these die from neglect. Side note: Flushed Away is via corroboration with Aardman, so not as simple an issue as the others mentioned.
I feel so sorry for Le Frog. He's a master of Kung Fu, has a long stretchy tongue, and hench frogs, seven of them. But, he lost 2 of them. That's just sad, those poor hench frogs.
Plus when he wanted to attack the rest of the hench frogs wanted to surrender which is kind of an allegory of the French government at the beginning of ww2, or maybe I'm just looking too deep into a 15 year old kids movie.
