"So far no ones agreed with me" that cracked me up
So glad you made that decision Mitch. I know that you've had every other domain dialled in but your nutrition, you've always had a rather basic approach to it but I think there are a few low hanging fruits for you to pick in that department. Can't wait to see where this change will take you
Keep at it man your channel is going to get a lot bigger. You are really down to earth and give a nice sanity check to all the insane sensationalized strongman content on youtube.
You are doing amazing. I am 43 yrs old and started strongman 9 or so months ago. I am competing nationals next month in Winnipeg. It is my only my third comp ever. I'm excited to see how I stack against the best u 100kg masters in Canada. None the lest I'm excited to just make an national event in any sport.
I appreciate all the work and time you put into steongman. I know even on my level it is a lot of time and sacrifice you and your family put in. Much respect 🙏
Good luck this year, mate. I will be seeing you next year if you keep at it. First Masters comp coming up this March to qualify.
Mate this is great, I compete at the amateur opens level. I'm pretty strong but lack speed in the movement medley and I think that's due to my size. Hopefully cleaning up the edges and tightening up the screws in my diet will help. You're awesome dude. Keep it up 👍
Hey Mitch, Bourbon brown sugar salmon is a delicious way to prepare it since you eat it so frequently. I cook it on my pellet grill at least a couple times per month
great content. there are lot of food and nutrition videos on youtube but can you do something about nerve system? what to do after real heavy exercises how to calm the nervous system.. maybe some exercises or nutrients for recovery.
That will be good
Great idea I’m sure Mitch will read this and do it!
I would also love him to include frequency for lifts such and deadlift, bench, squat as it pertains to cns recovery
Stan's diet is fantastic. I've always struggled with appetite and getting enough calories, and his book really changed the way I plan my meals to increase or decrease my appetite.
Thank you for making this video. I try to take your advice seriously in my own training and now dieting as well.
Pleasantly surprised! It's refreshing to see one of these vids vs the 'big man stuffing their face' to support the mass/power belly ones these usually turn into. There is a whole life after competition and this will help set up a long healthspan as well as lifespan!
I ALMOST wanna try the OJ and yogurt. Sounds gross but also intriguing, haha!
Looks amazing. Keeping things simple (aka good).
Can’t think of many other world class athletes that put out this level of knowledge and advice for free. Deserves all the success in the world 💪
Don't most athletes and fitness people on youtube/SOME show their diets and training?
Stan is the man. With his experience in powerlifting, bodybuilding, and all of his athletic clients, Stan would definitely be my pick. I love that OJ,and yogurt concoction.
Very cool, I've seen a lot of Stan's diets and people that have tried it, I even bought it and have the PDF, was expecting to see the tried and true "mash", of eggs, minced beef and rice, but your diet seems very nice.
When you mentioned Orange juice and plain Greek yoghurt I was worried but might have to try it now. That BBQ is awesome never seen one fuelled by pellets.
Strongest I ever got was on Stan's vertical diet. My priorities have changed in life so now I'm a bit more normal human with my training and diet but I do have fond memories. Never ever got sick of monster mash, orange juice and greek yoghurt is indeed a delight - tastes like mango lassi
Dude I just tried the OJ + greek yogurt mix this morning and it was surprisingly alright - better than you would imagine
(pro tip: I used one of those little coffee milk frothers to get it nicely mixed)
Add vanilla protein powder. I been doing it for yrs and love it
I love that he cleans up after himself and doesn't leave it to Ashley, But then again we don't see what's off camera.
Regarding that OJ and Greek yog mix... I've been mixing OJ and Vanilla Whey for a little while now. Peak creamsicle flavour, and a great intra-workout shake tbh
Diet seems pretty standard from watching Shaw and Thor do the vertical diet... but smashing a large coffee half hour before bed seems a bit savage. I know other people that drink coffee before bed and it always blows my mind.
You are well on your way to be a great dad with that enthusiastic grill review😂
the man just wrapped his fish in foil then tosses it on a smoker! haha not 1 wift of smoke touched that fish dad move forsure
Well, that's it, it's all over for everyone else, Mitch + Loz + Stan = Multiple times WSM
Stoked to see you at the finals and Rogue man, big love from BC 🍁 💪
Brian dropped Stan, and the diet, because he felt it made his performance worse. I'm not convinced this is going to be good for Mitch. I hope I'm wrong.
It worked for Hafthor@@TyghtAlso
No hate at all but that was the most Canadian way to explain a pellet smoker haha love it!!
Great video, nice to see what you eat in a day.
True Canadian with the Tim’s at the end.
Super excited you are working with Stan, he knows his stuff and his work has helped me immensely 👍
Curious about the orange juice and Greek yogurt…🤔
never seen a breakfast like that! thank you
WSM dad works at Lowes, that's what you want; a man who is humble. My dad was a carpenter.
Surprised at how much of your protein you are drinking, but the Greek yogurt seems like a great add to the OJ
Your premade meals don't look, on camera anyway, like they have as much meat in them as I'd expect. I'd want to add one more steak or fish serving and drink one less whey isolate beverage, but I imagine something that fits in a sports bottle fits better into your busy day. All the best and keep rocking it. I like some grainy mustard on my salmon if you want some variety and you can put a foil pack with peppers, onions and broccoli and a pat of butter in with the salmon for some delicious veggies
Feels good to see as an athlete (Rugby, Track & Field Throwing) that I'm eating nearly an identical diet, albeit with 1 shake/plate instead of 2 and minus the orange juice
Great video mate. I suggest NOT wrapping the salmon entirely, so more smoke can hit it. Pellets are famous for not having a heavy smoke flavor anyway.
oh shit, I think you just changed my world. Love orange juice yogurt is ok but the mix sounds amazing. great high protein breakfast drink
Monster mash is awesome (I eat bison, can't get enough of it). I started following Stan a few years ago with Brian Shaw - I got lean and mean with it - no "helpers". I followed the vertical diet for 2 years and was absolutely ripped until covid hit then decided to relax more and enjoy the dad bod. I have a Belgian Malinois so we walk over 6 miles a day (10km) on avg - our long day is 8 miles/13km. Also, you can't beat a Traeger grill! Side note... go un-wrapped, it'll taste way better.
can always get a world class chef to make a day of meals for you
just to see how far they can elevate it
The OJ yogurt shakes are awesome! I agree on the Creamsicle taste
Yessss Bob Ross of strongman is back with another banger
On salmon, I put lemon and lime juice, spray butter, and lemon pepper. Grill flesh side about 5 minutes flip and cook on skin side about 7 minutes depending on thickness.
Of all the WSM diets I have seen, this one seems the most "normal". You're a freak of nature Mr. Moose, but your diet doesn't feel unattainable or crazy.
Since you last mentioned OG with greek yoghurt I tried it, and it's freaking delicious!
that food is looking pretty vertical
You seem to know... can you explain to me, what "vertical" means in terms of food/diets?? I once watched a video with Efferding, and that did not make me understand. 👍
@hulkthedane7542 it's primarily about using foods which are nutrient dense and easy to digest. So some staples are things like red meat, white rice, chicken stock, etc. And then avoiding things which are difficulty to break down in the body, which can prevent you from getting your next meal in. It's a diet centered around food specificity and performance.
@@hulkthedane7542As I understand, the diet is just a way of eating foods that are easily digestible foods rich in macronutrients. And you can scale it “vertically” to your needs. It seems low in fibre though, so good luck pushing it out in the bathroom..
@@hulkthedane7542 Look at the cover of the book "the vertical diet" and you'll see why it has this name. It's just about the way he presents it visually. It's about eating mostly rice for carbs and energy and meat for protein and micronutrients and some other stuff like eggs and salmon for fats and some veggies for fibre and vitamins and other micronutrients.
@@wickywillsthe low fiber part makes it easier to digest and push it out frequently
My mom used to make me a glass of sugar water when I had an upset stomach as a kid. That or some ginger ale lol. Now I take some licorice root. It's much healthier than taking a tums. It increases your music production which hells protect your stomach lining.
Congrats on the Traeger sponsorship!
I loved how this quickly turned into a Traeger commercial...I don't mind though because I LOVE my Traeger. 😃
I see a beard in Mitches future. LHBK!
Love it! I just found you can’t wait to try the oj and greekmyogurt .. I’m a woman who wants to loose a little more weight and build more muscle .. coukd use some help.. advice and tips .. I’m
47 this year and in October it will be a year I’m
Training want to keep going but can use all the help I dan get train 1 hour a day 25 min on the treadmill .. train then do the step mill for 5-10 min closer 5-7 lol just started then on the treadmill to walk to get my steps in … what do you suggest @ 5’9 around 160lbs
Thanks for the hydration formula tip. That is gonna save me 50 bucks a month at GNC.
Mighty clean eating...3500-4000 calories...gotta love fish...rice quinoa where are the salads? Thanks for the video
Good choice of Nutritionist!👍
Yes! Awesome
4,500 to 6,500 calories a day, depending on training and competition schedule.
I could watch this guy all day
He's my favorite strongman of all time already. He's totally transparent and it's great. He's really mature for his age as well. He knows more than all of the vets and is supremely humble. He's the epitome of a gentle giant
My salmon rub is; garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, a bit of Cajun seasoning, salt, pepper
Finish it off with a squeeze of lemon after it's done cooking
For grilled/baked salmon, it's the best
Good job Michael Cooper!
I love how after you won WSM now you’re figuring shit out 😂
YES! I was waiting for this man. I think you're going to the moon working with the Rhino.
I'll second that OJ yogurt mix! I do that in the morning as well and it's delicious!
You need some "Cajun 2 Step" Seasoning for the Salmon!!
I’d like to see you cook that cheesecake on the traeger like you mentioned
That orange juice, yogurt mix is single-handedly saving my bulk xDDDD
cooking with mitch hooper season 1 lol.... well since its fall probably any pork/rib/turkey receipes would be cool
I do not believe he actually takes the diesel protein every morning Lol. That did not sound convincing at all. Looked like that old Mutant clip with Rich piana meanwhile these dudes might have a shake after a workout sometimes if their too busy to cook their real food.
It would be awesome to see how the diet shifts once you go into a peaking cycle for a event.
Duuude you so right! Traeger is where it's at
Mitch, I was vacationing from Winnipeg into Toronto and was at the Blue Jays game and they announced your name to throw out the 1st pitch- both of my kids said Dad Mitch Hooper is here to throw out the first pitch- small world in Canada
Nice BBQ comercial buddy! jajajaja
now you got me curious about the orange juice and the Greek yogurt I'm going shopping tomorrow so I'm gonna make sure to get more orange juice and a little more yogurt, so I'll try it the next day.
The most Canadian of Canadians type of video fucking loved it...
If you have high BP, a few things to try are. No mouthwash, no fluoride anything, nasal breathing day and night. Mouth tape at night if you can nasal breath. Ask a sleep doctor for help. Sprinting while breath holding, then recover with nose breathing only. It is a challenge to help generate nitric oxide in great quantities.
Eddie needs to get this hydration hack!
I don’t think I’ve ever heard and accent like Mitchell’s. It’s unique to the point where idk where he’s from!!!
Has Hooper always had sort of a 90's Pauly Shore kind of voice going on?
Mr Hooper what are your thoughts on nitrate supplements such as concentrated beetroot shots, as well as eating high nitrate vegetables like arugula, lettuce etc?
They have been well proven in running and cycling, but as they improve muscle efficiency and reduce lactate, it may been helpful in strongman to improve duration of max power output?
Take Cialis
Nice video. A little surprising. Interesting breakfast. Nice to see someone who isn't eating their bodyweight in meat. Onward and upward.
I'm swedish and Magnus Samuelsson was an idol for be back in the days... I did eat like him for a couple of years, like 10.000calories.....
Cheesecake on a bbq now that’s something beautiful I’ve never thought of
The best barbecue you would find in Texas slow woodsmoked barbecue.
Right now, Mitch only weighs 320 pounds, but one day, he's gonna be big enough to eat the whole world...! I wonder how his hamstring is recovering?
Where is the monster mash though? The vertical Diet is awesome!
Stan’s the man!
Coffee before bed?!?! Lol. How do you get proper sleep for recovery, drinking coffee?
Next time start off with the salmon un wrapped to soak in some of that smoke then finish off wrapped. Great smoker though and thanks for sharing your journey!
I've seen you say how you want to get a bit away from being so "suburban" and you want to get into more things like grilling. I think you should expand that into other many shit. I'm not saying become an expert at any of it, but just dabble and glean what you can. Hunting, building, weapons, fighting, team leading, cooking, therapy, basic medic work, etc. Anything that you feel can make you a better person and possibly leaned towards men but not just dude bro shit. Actual man shit, that makes you a better man in whatever regard you find to be valuable.
That would be a dope ass series, and tons of people would watch and more importantly, maybe learn stuff and get more well rounded.
Let's see you cook a brisket on that Traeger!
Oh man! I wanted to see that first pitch. Did you throw a strike?
Probably the friendliest giant on earth since he's candian :)
I actually like when you just ate when you were hungry and didn’t go with the trend of a “Strong Man diet”. Either way, keep up the good work, sir.
I’d like to see how the pellet bbq does with bread! A foccacia bread perhaps?
Why did you slightly blur Stan Efferding 😂
Definitely have a little more perspective on strongman diets. Used to seeing excessive amounts of ground bison and white jasmine rice. I'm a little iffy about the orange juice and yogurt combo but I'm going to remain open minded.
On my salmon my wife like me to add everything bagel on it. Sometimes I also add maple flavor or old bay seasoning. Enjoy
You said in a previous video its around 5500 on average depending on the training you're focused on could be more or less.
So Fabian has got Mitch to do an eating vid😂👏
Every morning I make myself a smoothie of orange juice and greek yogurt with mixed frozen berries. Just perfect.
Don’t wrap your salmon when putting it on the grill. You’ll actually get smoke flavor. If you wrap it the smoke won’t get to the meat so it’s defeating the point of smoking the meat. Just a little FYI
Seriously though would love to hear more about both the “hydration mix” and as well as your thoughts on so much orange juice. (2 glasses a day isn’t a lot? Is it full sugar?)
Thanks love all the videos.
Hope you didn’t jank that first pitch :P
fructose isn't the same as industrialized sugar
I'd assume it's basically salt to hydrate, and sugar to make the salt water drinkable/ not taste like salt water.
@volterslam664 nah a small amount of sugar helps absorption to much actually makes your kidneys give up water though so the amount you consume had to be pretty specific actually
Thanks for all the non-answers. Cheers
@@JTD472 plenty of answers were given, do you need it dumbed down?
With this kind of food at the end of his prep he will surely be ready to smoke that Lincoln Hawk guy!!! He could beat him right here and right now of course... but they will wait till Vegas
Finally broke down and started caring about food 😄
Thank you for not eating it on camera. I'm with you. People who are into that are straight up weird.
I really thought he was about to explain his dbol pills at the beginning
self proclaimed,! just do you man
6000 cal a day loving your content big love from the UK 🇬🇧 😊
