Pity these big fellas no longer work freight. I am quite lucky to get the ocassional grid log train running by me but I'd love to see a couple of these pulling it or some rock about. Fabulous video my man, looking forward to the next.
Excellent film compilation of these great machines - they were go anywhere, do anything work horses. Taken for granted back in the day but I always enjoyed their sound when standing ticking over and they could shift when needed. Hope to see more of these in compilation - maybe some of the 47/7s between Glasgow/Edinburgh/Aberdeen where they were cleared for regular 95mph running.
Thanks for the comments and for the encouragement. However, I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint on the 47/7 front, as I never took the camcorder to Scotland during the 1980s, only the still camera (I know 🤷🏻♂️😱). But I will be putting together compilations of my 47/3 and 47/4 clips, including some reallocated 47s from the Scottish region that came south. Thanks again. 👍😊Geoff.
Hi Gareth, thanks for the comment- And yes, I’ve got sufficient clips of the 47/4s to make a worthwhile compilation, so now you’ve suggested it, I’ll definitely put one together. 👍😊 cheers Geoff.
Hated these with a passion back then but nostalgia and 66's on everything tends to soften your view. When I think of all the millions of tonnes of freight and millions of people during their rein , I doff my cap to them!!!! Certainly wouldn't mind one from Plymouth to Paddington now!
They are grossly under appreciated imho. Not my favourite diesel loco, but definitely an important and welcome part of the 1980s scene. Thanks for watching and commenting Martin -👍😊 cheers Geoff.

Thanks Adam, glad you enjoyed the video. Probably do a 47/3 compilation next 😊😊👍. Geoff.
