Great trip around the rails of S&E Manchester, the sidings @ Ash Bridge Jct before Heaton Norris Jct was called Jubilee Sidings.

I grew up in Woodley, fascinating to go past the back of the precinct and see my old home from the viaduct.

Fascinating, thanks. Good cab chat. Park station closed three years later.

Unbelievable to compare then and now: the amount of litter then, and how stations have smartened up so much (not Ardwick haha). No Platform 0 at Stockport yet!

Super video, filling in a lot of information between what I knew in the 1960s and the present.
But WHY didn't they just turn left at Guide Bridge straight to Denton? Doesn't make sense!

Oh OK, I'll answer my own question! I see it was a rail tour so I guess they wanted to see the sights!

Fab video, worked many a train over these rails in the late 80s and early 90s. Who are the train crew do you know?

The main commentary is almost certainly from Walter Wood, Traction Inspector at the time, I think this film is taken from an old VHS cassette, I seem to remember a few were produced around the North West by AJC Productions.

Outstanding knowledge....i started on railway mid 80s...and on the footplate 1989 there where loads of 'old boy' drivers who would impart there wisdom upon you ....never a dull moment😊

Absolutely fascinating stuff that took me back to my youth. The driver was interesting to listen to, but factually incorrect on several of occasions.

What's with the faint backing music? Sounds awful. Commentary is great, though.
