@@DanielRivera-qj9cd well since I posted that it now supports custom firmware and I like it a lot better than I did then and I don't think I ever use the word hate but if I did I need to correct myself
Already have the RGB30 (and a grip) and have had little reason to switch to something else. It and the RGB30 and RGB20SX are getting a lot cheaper than their original release price too, and for a bit more there is the RG CubeXX. It's tough competition for these clone 1:1s.
I was hoping you'd focus more on its strengths. Pico8, vertical arcade shmups, gameboy etc... This screen looks amazing. Give it a few months and it's highly likely it'll be under $30.
"It and the RGB30 and RGB20SX are getting a lot cheaper" By it I meant the R36S; meant to mention it as you can find it for close to $20 with coupons, and sometimes around $25-$26 even without them (but not in every color, usually transparent black, t purple, and white). If this does get around $30, that would then make it a much better budget option compared to the RGB20SX or RGB30 even with a sale, and of course all of those are already cheaper than the RG Cube XX (which does look real nice, just pricier). As for the game systems for a 4" 1:1 screen, it's an excellent fit for GB/GBC (10:9), Turbografix-16/PCE (8:7), SNES (8:7), Pico-8 (1:1), Neo Geo Pocket/Pocket Color (20:19), NES (8:7), and plenty of arcade games as mentioned in other reviews. The 4:3 systems, though they don't fill the screen entirely, do take up a lot of it, and though the GBA's 3:2 is not the best fit, it still can hit a 3x integer scale (if I remember right). These are all systems that work well on the RK3266. Stacked DS screens are also very vertical and work (though individually are a bit small, and an individual screen is 3:2 just like the GBA). I haven't played a lot of DS to comment much on how well some games run on an RK3266, just some on the RK3566. I've just been looking at games that fit a 1:1 well since I got the RG Nano on sale for everyday use on the go and for small bits of game time and to use as an mp3 player. There are a lot of other systems that have a 4:3 screen if you play the majority of games on those systems, and plenty more powerful. If this was a bit cheaper and the OS unlocked, it would be a contender since so many systems that work with a 1:1 screen don't require a lot of processing power and other aspect ratios are still playable.
Good review! I would have liked to see a top down shooter or two since that would be the reason for me to purchase, but I can imagine what that might resemble. I can live with the same chipset since why on earth would you want to run something like psp on this thing? I'm interested to know whether the DPAD resembles the same quirks as the R36S, where they tend to be improved by loosening a couple of screws, but if they're being made by a different factory then perhaps the design is different?
The max would be worth it at the price but the pro is just the same R36S 640 x 480 screen with worse changes on the hardware IMO. If it's a max then I say that's a deal
@deadfred69 yeah it's the Max on sale for $35 on BF deals. Good to know to steer clear from the Pro model, was really hoping the Max was a 3566 though, would've made more sense for the Max name on it. I'm guessing the Max is the screen size & soccer ball lol
Why do some people dislike so much emuelec? I get the part of the r36s clone situation, and that some handhelds use locked versions of it. But once unlocked I dont get the issues. Yeah, non officially supported consoles dont get updates, but there are some people already trying Emuelec 4.8 on r36s clones. I'm just curious. Am I missing something that makes emuelec no so worth it?
It's probably a bias on my part since there have been versions of it that have been shipped and locked down the actual full experience is probably not that bad

does emuelec come with a video player?
Love the intro
Thanks for the review. Does it work with an R36S sd card setup? It uses the same chip so my guess it would work.

Yes I did not really show off those aspects but I will remember this for future content

I appreciate what you do, brother thanks for the reviews checking these out and saving me some money lol
Glad to help
I haven’t even opened the box yet. Fred is the Best he’s quick
To be honest it worked and then when I tried to play the game, it was showing on the screen sideways. I don’t know how to fix this.
Try playing a gameboy game for it to realize it's sideways so it will fix maybe bc it worked on me
Maybe logical but is the 128 gb comes with more games ?
yes bigger sd card more games but most times these are bad sd cards so might be best to take games from card and make new one

Aliexpress now says it'll be $35 on their Black Friday sale, might order a purple one then

Same UI as the XU10
Rob better watch this lok

Arkos is expensive 😂
No gracias. Prefiero antes la K36 🥰
Lo tendré en cuenta
So what difference with 36s screen and? What do you think is better
@Minkspider r36s is 3.5 inch 480 p while r36 max is bigger 4 inch 720p screen. Screen wins on max but too many other compromises
