I'd love to see how well todays hardware lasts after 30 years in 2054. This unit is super clean. That condensate motor housing looks to be cast aluminum ! Bravo.
Obviously you found a clearly visible failure on this one, but a place to check on these Rheem tubular heat exchangers people often miss is where the small tubes attach to the transition box connecting them to the larger tubes. The tubes can come detached from the box. Just give each of the tubes a tug and if its loose, that's a failure. If you still have this heat exchanger, would be curious if you found loose tubes and if so, how many.
Our winters are not as bad as up north so a 20 year heat exchanger on today's units should be possible. Coldest it got this year was I think 28 degrees.
I found a Duncan 1997 excel 80 percent furnace in a basement with a new roll out switch laying in bottom under burners, aluminum foil wrapped around second new smart valve, and flames burning back under valve from burners ,plastics on valve body were being burned like a cigarette. Condemned his furnace, told customer if he had any idea how close his house came to burning up ,never use again his last heating tech. 10pm Roanoke Rapids n.c.
My Straight Talk phone has been out for about 3 days so I couldn't watch You or Steve Lav and Ms Molly. I think Straight Talk turned it off because it wasn't time for My Data to run out.
30 years she did good.

100%
Well Ted it done well for a 30yo furnace 👍 Au
A Carbon Monoxide detector in the house is just as important as a smoke detector.
They are however, if my source is correct, residential CO detectors don't sound off until about 100 ppm. Does anyone know?
Good Job Uncle Ted!!!!
i like the way you talk and work good job
Love all your videos like this!

Not bad for an almost 30 year old furnace. I'll be happy if I get 12 years from my Lennox installed in 2016. No issues yet. Thxs for the vids!
30 years old.
Almost 30 years
Holy compromised heat exchanger Batman! Wow!
Great job,as always Ted
Looks pretty darn good for a 1994 unit. It was going to kill them anyways.
There you go ! Nice work
Nice catch Ted ... Customers live to fight another day ... Thx
Always in that spot when I see it
F5093 is probably 7th day of the 50th week of 1993
F5093 means that it was made the 50th week of 1993 at the Fort Smith, Arkansas Factory
Nothing a little JB Weld won't fix. Run it, then call the Fire Department. LOL
30 is good. Thx.

Good video Ted
That is an aftermarket inducer, the original ones were plastic
Rheem / Ruud redesigned it because the plastic was cracking. Rheem / Ruud & after market went to all metal .
Also a Crusty One Mr. GRINCH.
Yo, Steve.
Condensation over the years the cause?
