    How would you try to teach children
    1. How to not be afraid when seeing a kick fly at them?
    2. How would you teach kids about learning their fighting stance?
    3. How would you yearn TWD sparring into a real life situation?

    Really great video. There is a big shortage of good videos like this one on UA-cam. Im an advanced green belt and I was always looking fro something like this when i started. Id love to see the second addition of this video with some light sparring with someone of equal skill level . Keep up the great work.

      @@Wolf-xu1fj Idk, sounds like your mind is the one in the gutter. He/she was probably asking because one of the most common problems for people new to TKD or any similar sport is foot and ankle injuries.

      trust me I am 40 and almost there. Hold your leg in the air like in side kick motion , it warms legs up pretty well. Do it to both legs then attempt slit with heels digging into floor with toes straight up. Rinse and repeat and you will have full straddle in three weeks.

    Useful (and very convenient timing) video for me! My instructor is focusing on sparring in particular tonight, so thanks for this haha! Just one question, you said you "definitely" don't want to be moving straight back.. what's so wrong with moving straight back during sparring?

    • @SupremeMeme
      @SupremeMeme 5 років тому +2

      SuperMisterKory it is really easy for an opponent to just do a skip roundhouse or pursue you

    • @SuperMisterKory
      @SuperMisterKory 5 років тому +3

      @@SupremeMeme Ahh I see. As it happens I've literally just asked my instructor about 20 minutes ago and she said it might be an "old school" way of sparring? In the sense that stepping back is a less "aggressive" approach and would in turn, give your opponent more marks during a competition, so avoid stepping back. She also said it's (obviously) easy to not see where you're going and so there's a chance you could step out of the ring. Lastly, (I believe she also said) it's harder to defend a kick when you're stepping backwards, whereas if you step sideways, you could avoid getting kicked and kick them easier in return.
      Safe to say, my question has been answered anyway, haha. Thanks!

    Alex, this is very helpful regarding setting up basic kicks and footwork; I notice however there's no use of chops to the neck, punches to the face or back fist to side of head. Further you carry your hands pretty low which would make it difficult to block an opponent launching a head high attack. Any suggestions on how to add the use of hands to your sprring attack?

    • @ari2540
      @ari2540 4 роки тому +1

      Allen Schneider hand attacks to the face aren’t allowed in World Taekwondo (I’m assuming this is her style), those rules are used in olympics and any WT tournaments. ITF style taekwondo does allow punches to the face though so fighters will keep their hands higher than WT fighters.

    What is the difference in a cut kick and side kick? Is cut kick a TKD term? You are using at and have defined it as a low power technique but I have developed my front leg side kick into a very powerful weapon that can double opponents over.

      It's really just a stop and distance kick in Olympic tkd it's better for points since the goal isn't to hurt your opponent but score points
