Yet another Hercules H901 camper tire caught on its way to failure. Should I change it?

  • These tires have been real losers for us and now that our local Hercules dealer close up shop, Hercules is refusing to give me any other options to warranty these failing tires. These are more expensive than Goodyear endurance load range e, they are actually quite possibly the most expensive 225/75/15 trailer tire out there. So far, they’ve been falling apart. We tow at 65 mph and we are well under the weight rating of these tires. They are kept properly inflated and the hubs are greased and the brakes properly adjusted and working correctly. We have had them fail at all positions; not any single axle or or side.
I used to recommend these tires but I no longer can.

That’s not the tires fault, that’s an axle alignment issue.

Incorrect, it is 100% an internal tire failure. It was eventually covered by Hercules under warranty and pro rated. I used the money to buy another brand.

Wow I was thinking about getting hercules. I wont get them. What brand did you get afterwards? Im looking at the kenda loadstars for my toyhauler

@@CashMoney5280 I have heard good things about kendas but after spending so much on the Hercules and having such bad experiences I just bought the all steel venom primo hauler load range G. They are a 14 ply all steel and I can’t imagine they will be any worse than the Hercules. Long term I may eventually swap these hubs to 8 lug or buy 6 lug 16” wheels to use 235/80/16’s. There’s a much better selection of higher equality tires and they just seem better built than the 15” tires. My Hercules on my flatbed have been flawless in 235/85/16 load range g.

I am in the process of replacing the tires on our 5th wheel and these were my first choice too. Hummmmm!!!!!

I also have 4 of these tires. I also had 1 of the 4 running noticeably warmer than the other 3. Did not have a temp gauge but I had my hand!! Coincidently on my 5th wheel it was the same tire. I had the axle alignment's checked they were out of alignment....a LOT! This was a new 5th wheel. Actually considering there is NO quality control to RV's today you shouldn't be surprised. I had the axels bent and aligned at the cost of $700 at a local truck repair shop! Go ahead, ask your Trailer dealer about this and watch them laugh!! They are 7000 lb.Lippert axels,
After alignment all 4 tires run the same temp!! It's been known for yrs, at LEAST 30, hot tires will separate and eventually blow!! My Hercules H901's on a 15,000lb 5th wheel, Towed over 7000 miles in the hot summer heat, considerably heavier than TT in the video, look new!

I agree that’s a common cause of issues and my first thought was wait a minute is my axle out of alignment? Here’s the problem: three Hercules failed in three different positions on my four position camper. The previous tires wore evenly until one failed catastrophically after three years of ownership (castle rocks).
The Hercules were replaced with transeagle primo haulers which are so far wearing evenly. I’ll keep an eye on them, but the only common denominator of my failures has been the Hercules tires. I’ve replaced separated Hercules on two trips with a new load range e power king I keep on the spare and it has no odd wear and have had no issues.

Also on that weight I’m guessing you have 16” wheels. I run 16” Hercules on my flatbed and have had no issues with them.

@@jadensorenson6305 they are at 110 psi and have been for years. Send it. If yours has aluminum contact the manufacturer but these are steel wheels. They are 4x thicker than the air compressor tank in my shop with 160 psi in it.
