Just to point out something about the X51: it isn't usually as quiet as that.
Much like the X6 example, it is normally busy all day, and at rush hour especially, you are very lucky to get on and find standing space at times, let alone get a seat. (There's certainly been times where I'd argue that the X51 is the main service on that corridor now, over the all stops 51.)
A little bit of a correction too - the 15 /65 plates never had USBs fitted when new. The announcements are also programmed on that batch too, but very few of them actually do talk. Not sure why on that one.

The 529 is the last 500 bus service in Wolverhampton as Wolverhampton bus routes were 500 numbered routes such as the 525 and the 558 years ago

The only difference with later batches of Platinum spec MMC'S (from the 67 plate batch onwards) is the positioning of the USB ports. They are located into the seat backs, rather than mounted underneath.
The first batch of Platinum spec E400MMCs (The 15/65 plates, 6701-58) were delivered without USB ports.

At National Express West midlands and Coventry, the platinum livery and Buses do not mean express buss any longer as the National Express West Midlands and Coventry livery is now Grey/Platinum on all new buses.

Aye they have changed the brand slightly now

@@AndMoreCentral I have been interested in buses for 35 years now and living in Birmingham have always been interested in the local buses, mainly from when the WMPTE started in 1969 upto National Express West Midlands days and what you said " Changed the brand slightly now" is not a new thing, the only time Buses in the West Midlands have stayed in one livery for any length of time is during the WMPTE era when all the ex Corporation Buses and Midland Red take overs were repainted Oxford Blue and Birmingham Cream, when it became privatised I don't know why as soon as the buses started to get into a standard livery then they would change the livery of the West Midlands buses so now National Express never seem to get the fleet into one livery and stick to it.

You should try the Stagecoach South Bus Network

'Platinum' routes really seem to have lost their meaning. The Platinum buses can end up on any route and other buses such as E400s can end up on platinum routes

Yeah, NX gave up on "Platinum" Routes.

Aye it is a shame to see the end of it but was a nice contrast travelling on these vehicles to the older buses I'd been on in previous visits.

@@AndMoreCentrale still have platinum busses it's just that they're not strictly kept on platinum routes like X8, 9, 16, 23/24, 82/87 anymore. they can basically be on any old route now given its popular enough, examples are 80, 101, 35, 45/47, 61/63 etc
