Keep being critical. Nothing wrong with it. I looked up the menu. If you are going to charge $36 for shrimp and grits, it better SLAP. You put yourself in the bullseye with prices like that. There can't be ANYTHING wrong with it at that price
Visiting as I comment please heed the warning. Darius I thought you were being a little extra but I once was blind but know I see. And AMEN to everything that you said.😒😒
@@wendyjordan5124wow! I couldn’t agree more, my recent trip here was underwhelming to say the least. This place misses the mark. Best thing I had was cornbread and pecan pie smh.
When I moved to the DMV 25yrs ago, Georgia Brown's was the spot. The brunch was nice with a live jazz. Haven't been back in years. P.S - With all the food you have leftover, can you get it to go and give it to the homeless? Unfortunately, there are lots of people around the area that could use it.
DC is the south. Not the deep south but the south. Also, there are SO many generations of people from the deep south who moved here. The metro DC area or the DMV has great representation from the dirty south. However, finding good soul food in DC is hard. I have been here since 1983, and the pickings are very slim. I have had better luck with "hole in the wall" places. Unfortunately, those establishments are out of business or sold to "others" who just cannot get the recipes right. Great places that had excellent soul food but have lost its "favor" are: Florida Ave Grill (DC), Johnny Boy Carryout (DC), Suburban Seafood (MD), Henry's Soul Cafe (MD), and Hillcrest Carryout (MD). Many of the original owners have passed away. For the ones whose families have taken over, the food is not the same. A few of these are owned by people who have co-opted the culture but not the soul in the cooking. There have been other restaurants that tried hard but they are out of business and are too many to name here. DC is a foodie town for other cultures and have great options. Ironically though for soul food, the formerly known "Chocolate City", ain't it.
Once again, for those prices, I’m disappointed in the mashed potatoes, not being real potatoes and a dirty rice🤦🏽♀️ and the fried green tomatoes😕 not the shrimp and grits to😫
An egg ain't gonna make a difference with all yhe shit he eats...gtf outta here...been eating eggs his whole ass life then wanna play holier than thou 🐔 🐥 edition...BLACK FOLKS KILL ME DOWN!!!
Darius, I'm a Newbie to your vlog, and I love it! You're honest, straightforward, and gives YOUR true opinion of each dish. Keep giving us the truth and great content! ❤
They used to have a great Sunday Brunch...part buffet and then a full meal. Couldn't eat the entrees and so we used to give it to unhoused families across the street at the park. I will still give it a try, but won't be at the top of the list. Try Kramer's Books and Afterwards (Kramer's) and Lauriol Plaza for absolutely fantastic food!!!
I went here in 2008 they had the best grits I had ever tasted! It was brunch and it was amazing. I went back after the pandemic and was disappointed. Quality went all the way down!
I stopped eating at restaurants a long time ago. I found out that good cooks are hard to find in a 90% blak area... An African Restaurant had Hispanic cooks. No Sir!! The food reflected its error.
Poor thing. I wrk in DC & live in Baltimore. I knew this was a no as soon as u said it. It was a no 12 years ago. Sorry. U go to Georgia Brown’s for ambience. But u can’t eat ambiance, okay?!
Darius, I'm done with you, lol. When ppl tell me a place has good food, I need them to be descriptive. Everyone's palate is not created equal. Keep the video's coming.
Just because people say its Southern or from Louisiana, really what they are saying is that is the way they are used to having it or it is what they are use to eating. Not all cooks, are good cooks. Need to come to my house and its the real deal. Nothing but the trinity! If you don't know what that is, already done. . .lol.
Bro I really enjoyed ur review it was funny, I like ur personally. I'm a DC native and nobody from DC eats at Georgia browns, it's to expensive for soul food but I guess they have to pay that expensive rent. Carolina kitchen would be a better choice and that's not saying much. Good soul food left DC by the 90s, I mean like the best hole in the walls ever, family run places. Now we got poshy black people opening up "soul food" places and it comes off expensive and awful.
I was laughing already from the beginning with you saying your grandma didn’t eat dats and mine either 😂😂😂😂

My daughter went last week! She enjoyed it!!
“Come on bring ya ass! Bitch! That’s my non dominant hand. Tell ya friends. Well ya can’t tell them they’ll smell ya.” I’m cracking up!!
Almost every place in DC had a different version of Mumbo Sauce 😂
I would love to see you check out some African and Jamaican spots
I love Georgia Browns
I’m so grateful I don’t have a restaurant.

If Im not mistaken they do take the food with then because Corey eats it since the DWDC food goes home with guests, if they bring tupperwear
Yes, I worked in the area for years and it was one of our go to restaurants.

@@diva70smusic - I used to love Florida Avenue Grill
@rlight7666 Me too!! It was always crowded when I used to go there. The food was so good!!
Spent my summers in Greenwood SC. We ate dates and all kind of stuff people don't consider southern and regular southern foods.
“They’re instant”. I cackled!!!
Man, all the shade is giving me 😂😂😂😂. I kinda like this raw uncut vibe to the review lol.
re the cornbread skillet, some may argue to never soak it
Prices are high!
I’m so glad you did this review. I was going for my birthday on July 19
Ohhhh they still open. Wonderful. 🏆
Once again, for those prices, I’m disappointed in the mashed potatoes, not being real potatoes and a dirty rice🤦🏽♀️ and the fried green tomatoes😕 not the shrimp and grits to😫
Again I say cornbread is made with eggs...so why not try the macaroni?
Good point

That, “i’on like it” took me out!!!! 😆
When he said “ahhhh fawk” at 20:27. I’m crying!!! These reviews are everything!
The DC perspective is the same for that restaurant! I had the same reaction when I ate there years ago, so they obviously have not upgraded.
I thought pot liquor was a thing my family made up but, boy was I wrong lol.
Been here two months. There's a shortage of soul food in DC. 😢
I like you sticking up for us in Louisiana
Georgia Browns isn't a Black owned restaurant at all. It's a restaurant that's serves black inspired foods.
Georgia Brown would not survive in Georgia. We take our food seriously.
You’re in “my neck of the woods”. Welcome to the DMV area! You are always welcome!😃
Oh u was all over the DMV, I love the grits yummyyyyy😋
Have you been to Ruby’s southern kitchen in Bowie? Please try them out - the food is delicious. I love the oxtails. Yummy😂😂😂
Excellent 👌👌❤

Where is your restaurant at so I can visit it?

Not killing that fly...lmao
Hope you will try Due South in the Navy Yard in the South East section of DC. Southern cuisine , but not soul. Food is good.
I went here in 2008 they had the best grits I had ever tasted! It was brunch and it was amazing. I went back after the pandemic and was disappointed. Quality went all the way down!
That part I don't know nothing about that😂😅😅
And too pricy. I’m a DC resident.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 love your review.

😂 No I am not paying $36.00 for good peach tea! I want gooooood food.
South Carolina red rice
I haven’t been there since 1988. The food was good to me but not good enough to justify the price.
Im sorry to tell you it was bought out back in 2010 the just use the name of the restaurant
Id
they have a great happy hour
I loved the shrimp and grits
So I want to know how is the fried chicken 4.5 instead of just a 4? 😂
The fried chicken was moist and good when i went there.
I'm a washingtonian and never visited because we do this food and I just don't want it to go south.
Listen, my auntie lives 15 minutes from there. She will get my money and I'll have leftovers for tomorrow. And her food looks better than that.
Lol what black grandmama is making ceviche 🤦🏽♀️🤣Lolol😂😅🤣🤣😂
Lol😅 twice on Sundays😂🤣😂 about the biscuits☺️
the shrimp and grits looks promising. Looks good.Yum
Ah do shut up.
Did he swipe the fork in the dirty napkin he killed the bug with....the guy came and gave you a clean napkin sir...smh

You can tell the potatoes are instant just by the look alone 🥴
Please be good…girl it’s not good😂😂😂😂
Sorry but the gizzard and livers makes the rice "dirty. Anything else is Rice Dressing.
Them real biscuits
Eggs do not go in macaroni & cheese 😂
Have Brunch. It's the best.
I see how you try to make it positive at the end. But no thanks I would not go there.
He should have prayed over the food before he started eating any of it lol
Didn't your mama tell you not to talk with your mouth full?😂
I'm sorry for the attempt 😅😊😊😂😂
Gordon Ramsay could identify the rice perlao ingredients.
Wowww...U take hatin to a whole new level. And what happened to your restaurants?
Yeah really arrogant. No table manners...eats with his mouth full, smacks his food and Gordon Ramsay would not be impressed with him.😂
He does not have any?
Brunch!
Yea I don’t do eggs in Mac n cheese anymore… it’s just not my thing.
Darius, you should have eaten in the dining room. It’s over the top and it has not been updated since the early 1990’s.
Everybody in the area know Georgia browns is soul food that has whitewashed and gentrified and priced for the yt ppl 🎉
I’m from Louisiana, terrible That’s not Dirty rice or Gumbo.Shrimp and grits look terrible. Please stop putting Louisiana dishes on you’ll menu
so you like the way the biscuit tastes but its not homemade so it gets a 1
Please give your leftovers to the unhoused in the area
He has explained that he doesn't want to give partially eaten food. How unsanitary.
My grandmother ate dates.
Great review!
I know you're revving up to open a restaurant...
Looking forward to supporting ❤
Please have some meatless options available 🎉
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hi Darius
I didn't enjoy it.. I never returned
Georgia Browns been trash for a long time 😂😂😂
What’s up Darius💜💜💜🎁🤴🏾
Ol hatin zesty arse
U make sick
None of the food looks appealing to me, especially the gumbo. It looks anemic!
Southern cuisines NO soul at all.
He needs to stop..
She's cool. Her gut was big as her butt💯
The nerve!!!
What does your mother’s look like?
My daughter went last week! She enjoyed it!!
