Yeah that was a "black sparkle" kit I had them make me. Definitely an awesome finish... And I did have a blast playing those songs every day. Not the easiest drum parts, but fun to take on the challenge.
Yep, that's Ableton, running a click and some backing percussion (especially on this song...think the triangle patterns in the middle of the versus), as well as doing guitar patch changes during the songs, which I found fascinating how nobody on stage had to stomp on any pedals throughout the show.

SJC Drums titanium snare. I believe 6.5" x 14". Unfortunately this exact alloy/shell of titanium is no longer available, something about it being military-grade titanium and the military barring the use of it for anything else besides their own (I think that's the story I heard). It's definitely my "secret weapon" because it's LOUD and has an insane tuning range. Check out some of the other videos on my channel to see/hear what I'm talking about.
I've had my fair share...worst one though was probably a gig in "the early years" where I realized (the hard way) that drums and alcohol do not mix. Needless to say, I rarely (if ever) have even a sip of something alcoholic before I play. Being in a band is a job, especially when you've been fortunate to have done this for as long as I have. Most important is bringing your best game to the stage each night...everything else is secondary to that.
Usually every 3-5 shows, depending upon the length of the set. On Warped Tours, it was usually every 5 shows, although for this particular summer I made it more like 3-4 at the most because with the exception of the kick drum, I was using the same drums for two different bands each day (New Found Glory and Yellowcard). Also, recently I've switched to using Remo Clear Vintage Emperors on my toms, and I've noticed that I can actually stretch them out for more like 6-7 shows sometimes. I think it's because they're slightly thicker than "normal" clear Emperor heads, and also being a clear head versus a coated head, since there's no coating to wear off, means that the sound stays more or less the same for longer before it becomes hard to get a good tone out of the head.
It's running Ableton, with a click track going and also has all of the guitar patches on running through it (it will automatically change the guitars from clean/dirty etc using timecode and MIDI messages at certain points in a song. Pretty sophisticated stuff, but it was part of the gig when I was asked to play for that summer. I was just responsible for pressing the space bar to start/stop the songs and following along.
