    This is the one I want. The Limited is the only trim level that you can get an interior color other than tomb black. I would rather get >40mpg and 600 miles of range than the high performance version. A number of reviewers have complained about lack of driver’s seat headroom so that is a concern. I too wish this was a lift back.

    • @rightlanehog3151
      @rightlanehog3151 2 роки тому +5

      The lack of driver's seat headroom is in keeping with the lack of passenger seat headroom in the back. 🤨Why couldn't they have lifted headroom 4 inches the way they lifted the seating position 4 inches? The design craze kicked off by the original sloping Mercedes CLS sedan in 2004 is still distorting the shape of sedans from their original practical mission. Is it any wonder practical people are forced into CUVs?

    I purchased the Crown Limited 3 months ago. So far, it’s been absolutely amazing. I consistently get better gas mileage than projected. Usually I’m getting 48-54 mpg. The ride is very smooth, the advanced driver assistance and technology is spectacular, and the interior is sheer luxury. The seats are unbelievably comfortable which is really nice for longer drives. Overall, I love it and do not regret the purchase one bit. I also agree with Kirk, the limited trim is the way to go. I test drove both the limited and the platinum. While the platinum is faster, the fuel economy definitely suffers. The only big difference is that the platinum gets the automatic parking assist. I preferred the smoother, more fuel efficient limited trim.

  • @baldheadlogic
    @baldheadlogic 2 роки тому +18

    I like this Crown. I was hoping you could get the Limited tech package without those 21s. I feel like the ride will be smoother and tire replacement will be more reasonable with the standard 19 inch wheels.

  • @Mike-ru9ht

    I test drove a Limited and a Platinum today. After driving the Limited, I almost left. I didn't like the sound or feel of the 2.5 with the CVT at all. When I stepped hard on the gas, the car seemed to say, "please don't do this too often." It did not feel like a $45k car. Then I drove the Platinum. To me, it felt totally different. It was smoother, quieter, the steering felt crisper. Maybe that's because of the rear wheel bias of the Hybrid Max system. I wouldn't consider buying the Limited for $45k, but I'd consider the $50k Platinum. The engine/drivetrain felt more than $5k better. As for the looks, It's a love/hate thing, right? To me it's different look in a good way. I really like the Crown, but like others have said, a liftback would have been preferred as would a contrasting interior option on the Platinum. But I'll tell you what I do hate - the front end of just about every Lexus. I despise that spindle grill. Even Lexus admits it's a polarizing look, and yet they tag every car with that front end. However, since we're talking about $50k vehicles, we have to take a serious look at an ES. Then the problem becomes, if you want AWD you're looking at the ES250 with a non-turbo in-line 4. Only with the ES350 can you get the nice V6, but you lose the AWD and have to settle for front-wheel drive. To stick with the hybrid idea, you're now looking at the ES300h with the non-turbo in-line 4 and only front drive. That's like the worst of both worlds. For those saying it's an easy choice to run to Lexus, I'm not seeing it yet.

    Thank you for the coverage of the new Crown. Some will love it and others will be totally turned off by it. IMO it looks like it should be a replacement for the Venza not the Avalon. It makes me even happier that I bought the new 19 Avalon Limited. I'm hoping it gives me the same carefree service that my bought new 2000 XLS did. On a recent road trip with cruise set just above the speed limit I got over 34 mpg with one tankful getting 35.1 mpg on interstate driving. Not bad for a comfortable cruiser with 301 HP. As for the 2000 XLS, I passed it down to my granddaughter when I bought the 2019. It is still her daily driver and still only requires regular maintenance.

    Thank you for your ride review. This Crown might be the best everyday commute vehicle, a quiet, smooth, and comfortable ride. I cannot wait when Toyota to introduce the 4-Door Sedan version of Crown. That's what is famous and popular for Premium luxury sedans in Japan. Love Crown and Love Toyota.

Very big and heavy but doesn’t take advantage of the size and doesn’t seem any more practical than my IS 350. Lucky to live in a country where this wonder of automotive Japanese industry, comes year after year, is my opinion this brand doesn’t fit in America.
    Is like to try to adapt a ford mustang in Japan.
    The philosophy behind the real crown is exclusively to Japanese way of thinking, which is opposed to America’s.
    It is a sacrilege to bring such a unique brand to a society that doesn’t understand the value of this brand.
    The real Toyota Crown is not just a car.
    Is a blend of refinement , durability and luxury but on the interpretation of Japan philosophy.
    How many will consider buying a GT 500 made in China?.
    Every hands that touch that sheet metal,most be American,because there’s a vibes that comes from the love and pride of the guys who make this icon of American muscle.
    Same thing happening with the Crown.
    If you don’t understand what’s behind the Crown..?
    Is a very prestigious brand
    For all of that , I don’t think , this market idea will last.
    Just like the Supra
    Another Toyota Legend ,been misplaced.
