Lucie has her mother’s mannerisms down perfectly during the “Cuban Pete” clip ... loved it !! Great job Desi and Lucie ! A beautiful reincarnation of a classic ❤️🎼... Thank you so much for posting this rare find ! 👍🏻
I'm so glad that their kids are proud of Desi and Lucy's career, especially of their cuban roots. Some children of celebrities, don't want nothing to do with their parent's past accomplishments, nor the family lineage. They were definitely a tight nit family!
If it was filmed then, then it was filmed in March 1982, for it was then, and not in 1976, that Desi Arnaz was the guest of honor at Carnival Miami, staged at the Orange Bowl in Miami. Desi Sr was then aged 65 years of age.
rostycosy , Lucie Arnaz is an accomplished Broadway actress and singer. Theater and club dates are her passion. I saw her years ago in the Tommy Tune musical my one and only and she was fantastic.
@@lasbagman1 I tried to get a ticket to one of Lucie's recent cabaret shows and it was completely sold out. I have friends who have been to her shows and said she's amazing.
Desi was only 59 years old here. I've always been shocked at how bad he looked as he aged - testimony to how a person can literally destroy themselves by heavy smoking and alcohol abuse. Sad.
Most people looked older back then. Assuming the year is correct, Lucie Arnaz was at most 25 here and she looks like a woman today in her mid-to-late 30s. Here, Desi, Jr. who was 23 at most, looked like a man today in his early-to-mid 30s.
@@mistercool3859 Desi looked much older because of the heavy drinking he had done for the past 20 plus years. He was an alcoholic. Drinking heavily ages you.
I used to really love him, he was my first crush, but since I found out that Babalu is a pagan song to a pagan deity, in the Santeria religion my feelings changed. I have known people who were involved in that religion and I can't support it. That and oh, the serial cheating. I still love Ricky Richardo, but Desi had a lot of problems. They both did, they made us laugh but to glorify this family especially now when they seem to be denying a supposed unclaimed grandchild of the late, great Lucille Ball's as well as Desi's, seems to be a bit much. I love the show, and always will, I own the entire series, I first heard and fell in love with Spanish also part of my heritage that I was denied for many years, when I heard him speak it as well. That show, and his speaking spanish, was somewhat instrumental in my seeking out the other part of my heritage from Sudamerica years later. I hope before he died and also before she died, they both found peace, but by all accounts it doesn't seem as if they did. I feel for the children having to have to live through such a public scandal as well, but I suppose that's showbiz. RIP Desi and Lucy. Que ambos se acuesten con los ángeles...
Lucy Roth, the mother of that grandchild you refer to was 20 at the time, and Desi Jr. was only 15. First of all, consider the times and the scandal that would have erupted. While it's true Desi Jr's two parents should have been more attentive to what was going on with their son (and protective), and should have known he would have had vulnerabilities as the son of major celebrities, that doesn't change the fact that he was a minor and the mother of this child was an adult. The law in California at the time is the same as it is now, and Lucy and Desi could have taken legal action if they wanted to, but that would have been in the press. But just imagine yourself as the parent of a 15 year-old and this happens with a 20 year-old, and on top of it being in the society of over a half century ago, truly very different times. How welcoming would you be? I think most parents would be extremely angry. But that's the past. Desi Jr. has come to terms with his past and has a relationship with his daughter and granddaughter, and that's all that really matters now.
Ain't a bit weird doing chick chicky boom with your daughter? Oh well At least they seem very much like a dad and mom on stage there's no chemistry other than that
It is a recreation of the "Cuban Pete" Skit that Lucy and Desi did on "I Love Lucy". He looks at her and holds her in a very non sexual way. For all his faults,he was not incestuous.
I love it! Lucie is such a great performer. She dances GREAT.
So amazing!!! Father, Daughter, and son, so beautiful!!!
I’ll always love him. My heart has a big soft spot when it comes to Desi and Lucy. ❤️❤️❤️
I love that Lucie is wearing her mother's costume and dancing with her father. What a sweet clip!

Aside from the drinking and smoking, running desilu from 1951-1960 aged desi at least 20 years

Great dad!

So incredible. Caught forever for us to cherish.
I believe this was when Desi Arnaz was the grand marshall of the Calle Ocho Festival in Miami. I've been looking for this !! Thanks for posting.

Great to see those three together. I am certain that Desi loved his kids .
Excellent ... don't why these kids didn't make it higher in Hollywood.

This wonderful, The whole family so very talented, the apple does t fall far from the tree. RIP Desi Arnaz. You shall never be forgotten❤️
This was actually in 1982, when Desi was the king of Carnival Miami. Sadly he would die four years later.
Desi Sr. may have aged faster due to a number of factors, but he still has the voice.
Read the book
“excuse me Mr. Pete…. have the Cubans a different beat” Original lyric Lucille Ball sang on “Cuban Pete” in “I Love Lucy”.
wow time really flies. and too think Lucie Arnaz this year is actually her fathers age now when he died. I hope I can see one of her shows soon.
Kids closer to Dad
Wow That’s the same dress Lucy wore in “I love Lucy”
Such a fun video!!
This is actually Carnival Miami - 1982.
she is so real!!

Very true! My dad is around that age and looks 5-10 years older.

All of that drinking and smoking really buggered him up.

I lived "back then" and trust me, not everyone Desi Arnaz's age (not Jr.) walked around looking like that at 59.

CLarcholey That’s so cute that you think that people today look so much younger. Let’s talk in 25 years.
Yes, alcoholism really mess up a person's looks as well as others that do drugs.
John Leguizam can play Dezi

Not really. He had it coming
Lucy arnaz will never be a actress like her mother
Poor old Desi he did not age well at all
