Is It Possible To Roll A Sherp? Sherp Pro vs Sherp N
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 чер 2020
- We were recently doing some testing on the new model Sherp N and comparing it to the Sherp Pro when things got interesting. This is the first video, the next video will have much more detail on the Sherp N. This was a trained Sherp driver on a controlled course with spotters, please do not attempt steep hill climbs in your Sherp
Thanks for watching!

So now that driver in the yellow sherp can write down "sherp recovery" on his resume under experience.
No one would believe him. 😉
That roll cage definitely put in work very nice i feel like if his rear tires would have been aired up a bit more it might have went up better but i have never driven a shurp either i could be wrong
Wouldnt putting more air in raise its Center of Gravity too much?
Dave Crupel not the Rear. The rear with more air would mean less give aka less angle diff from the front to start to come back.
Less air more grip
@@user-wu3ey5eo8j true but in that instance more air would have changed the angle and might "might" have helped climb without going over but i don't know i have never even seen a shurp in person
Yes I had the same Idea, maybe less air in the front and more in the back.
Not gonna lie, that was scarry at the moment when it started flipping backwards.
Agreed

The driver was kinda inexperienced. He should work actively with clutch and gas, to be able to feel the vehicle.
Unless it was his mission to make a viral video )
I am sooo amazed that the Sherp stayed up on its rear end, not tipping over all the way. Best promo for a roll-cage. And great center of gravity in the Sherp design !!
@@ostacruiser I'm sure you just about shit your pants buddy....
does that thing have a compartment for spare underwear???
That roll cage did an AMAZING job of protecting the Sherp. Well worth having !
5:18, wow cool a wheelie , oh never mind he’s doing a backflip. Lol
Awesome. Whenever i see a Sherp i think "Osta"
We can't wait to get our new Sherp N
ostacruiser will you come to the sandy lake rally

In romanatwoods vid i instantly thought of osta
"Osta" mean "buy" in finnish
I'm no Sherp expert, but would a bit more air in the rear tires have helped?
Seems they bagged out and allowed the rear to sag down lower...
Amazing that it didn't go over🤘
We were thinking the same thing. But didn't want to try it again lol
@ostacruiser Hook the winch up and keep it just under tight as a safety catch.
The Sherp N has more cab up front. Just enough extra weight to keep the nose down. It almost went over too. Strap a bag of sand or two on the front of the Sherp Pro and it would have made it.
Yes
They have a very specific amount of psi for these things. Mainly for water purposes, but I suppose if you plan on keeping it land based. These tires are tubeless and I believe kept at 2psi. I could be a bit wrong there.
Man you guys deserve the best review. You've taken that Sherp to a new testing le el. I'm sure not even Sherp Có has done it. Awesooome!
Love the channel, you guys are awesome but if there was no Sherp I wouldn't have subscribed. MORE MORE MORE SHERP; Never get tired of it

I have been close to doing that and I’m ROPSless. Thank god no one hurt and minimal damage. Great Video!
Watching your videos and you have been "VERY CLOSE"!!
So we are fixing the roll cage at my work right now... new one looks nice with texture paint. Not that I’m a professional but the mistake was... not enough air pressure in the tires so when the sherp started to climb the rock air pressure equalized and all the air went to front tires witch caused rear tires to go way to low in air pressure than had to increase throttle than disaster. Lol. Very little damage and hey what a great adventure. Have fun and love watching your video’s. cheers guys 🇨🇦
I just wish I had money for a sherp...always love the sherp videos ! Keep them coming! Heck I'd take the damaged one if I had the money
The yellow shirp makes me think of something you'd see at wildfire management.
They are producing special versions of Sherp for Emergency services in Russia, Ukraine and I believe USA and Canada bought some too.
@@praetorrus yes! Osta used to (think he still does) live in the same town as me. My dad is a fire chief and they tested it out. Lol.
I just gotta say man...telling someone to grab the tow strap by hand while you have the weight of a Sherp on the end of it. I was so happy to see him just back up and tip it down cause even just being a nylon strap it could cause serious injury to someone when it breaks it's like a shotgun blast! Absolutely amazing video tho man from a fellow Canadian 👍 always love your videos and hope to experience a Sherp someday!
Osta thank you for another good content!
You're welcome friend
Would love to see you take your sherp down to hurricane Utah take matt from Matt's off road recovery. For a ride in the dunes an maybe do a sand recovery.

Great video guys , makes me dream of having one.
I totally passed you guys on the highway the other day and didn't realize it was you, but seeing the sherps got me and my buddy talking about you on the way out to the cottage.
If he had stopped accelerating when the nose started lifting off the ground, wouldn't had rolled.
100% correct. I have had my front tires off the ground many times attempting steep stuff and haven't rolled it yet....knock on wood lol
@@ostacruiser mistakes are not bad if you learn something from it :)
@slugg The wheels all share the tire pressure (it's combined from inside), so when weight is mostly on back tires, they will be more flat as the air is pushed towards front tires with less load.
The tires looked to be more aired down than the first one. Even as the first sherp's front tires lifted a bit, the rears didnt sag as much. Once the rear end dipped, it rolled back.
@@brickswisher7672 No
"Was that my fault?" you made his day by asking him that LOL
Man that's bad ass. Them sherps are amazing. I didnt know there were so many out there.
The grass rides very beautifully, it almost does not crumple, and it breaks the bushes, this all-terrain vehicle takes good care of nature!
When going up steep hills you need to be able to reverse instantly to keep from rolling. The driver seemed to freeze. Maybe a few practice runs getting into reverse quickly next time. Even just neutral probably would have saved it. That and the flat rear tires did it mostly.
“Devin has a shhhhcrap load of hours” nice catch 🤣
🤣🤣
I like the escape hatch on the sherp N do to the roof relaxe and fish capabilities.
That yellow Sherp by far the coolest real all terrain vehicle!!
Africa needs a car company like this
no one can afford it there tho
Look up Brandt BRV, offroad and road legal. Manufactured in South Africa
Ostacruser spend so much money to give us great content! Second
Im glad the drivers ok.. but that was awesome and funny.
That is one awesome vehicle! Tough little climb, still havn't seen one that has rolled...dang. Cool videos btw
Thanks Brian
If the strap came off and smashed the guy in the face he would have died.. why didn’t he shut the window or pull the other way round.
to be fair they did have the rope 'fuse' as seen, most likely break point by far was on the drivers side, but yea, otherwise agree some protection would be a good idea.
Extremely stupid. These guys arent the brightest.
I don’t see how anyone could have died lol.
I hope the sherp company gives you either money or a discount for all the awesome footage of sherps!
I think if rear tires had more inflation, second sherp could have climbed rock. Definitely a marvel in engineering. Thank you for sharing.
Man these things are impressive.
5:37 How the bull screams😂
I cannot believe that didn't go all the way over! Seriously!!! How did it stay on its back?!
Besides the roll-cage it must have been the low center of gravity in the Sherp's design.
Yes Mrs Osta, Go Blue!!!!
I love your videos!!!
"Someone just needs to pull on the rope"... Umm no thanks!
I cringed so hard when they started walking towards it, then a large sigh of relief when it snapped *without* anyone pulling on it.
"Hey guys go and get killed by that obviously not load rated, shabby old rope"
as a fishermen, u know to never play with a rope hauling that much pressure , if it breaks or comes off quickly it could wipe your head right off
I didn’t even know this existed that’s dope asf
Welcome to 2020
i only know it from gta
There's one for sale in Tampa FL right now, $80k.
Those things are pretty cool love to try one out, but if you keep going off road like I do . Always have good quality straps and more that 25 ft, lol you got the room and portable electric winch wouldn’t hurt
Rear tires looked low on hill from weight transfer, caused vehicle to squat making the vehicle tilt back steeper then the hill so it flipped.
Awesome vehicle, what I want fir Xmass.
had a huge flood here in my town two days ago and the whole time i was thinking about saving up to buy a sherp so i can buy supplies if there's ever an unexpected flood again in the future lmao
yeh you'll have to do a good bit of saving, they are a bit out of my range
@@badlarry172 yea i know, its expensive af lmao.
Buy an inflatable boat, preferably a local surplus military one (you'll have some problems with old rubber, but it's miles above commercial stuff). You don't need much else if there's a flood. And if that's too impractical, then just build a hovercraft. Cheap, easy to use, can move quite a bit of heft, all terrain, and you can make it from cheap stuff. The skirt for example, you can use the thinner variety of pond liner. To seal it up and glue it to your sizes, you just have to make a heat rolling g*n, which is a soldering iron with a washer rolling in ther head so you can seam weld stuff with it. Motors are tricky, but anything with sufficient HP to drive a big enough fan blade, should suffice.
@@aserta Had a buddy build an airboat with a 454 cranking out 700hp. Thing was a beast.
These units would be great as a rescue unit, even ice rescue.
I can’t believe that thing didn’t flip over lol
We were all like....wow! Lol
The rear tires were underinflated for that climb (even for the low air pressure in Sherp tires). As the ascent steepened, the weight transitioned toward the rear of the Sherp, it caused the rear tires to compress too much, moving the center of balance far enough back for it to lose balance. Had the rear tires had more air pressure it would not have flipped back.
Clearly shows the improvements in the Sherp N
It looked kinda funny when it fell like a cute big toy lol
Can am yellow... Maybe lol
Just when it started to go up I thought he would of let off the pedal. My instects would of been too an rite into reverse lol
Yes that would have saved it for sure
rollcage is a must on such boxy vehicles!
Sugest posibility to 1# block air pressure in tires, to prevent air shearing. 2# To inflete axles diferently (for example to block front. You adjust pressure in front, block, andjust in back.)
Miss ostacruiser would of made it!! 😂😂
Awe thx .That was definitely a steep climb
Mrs. Ostacruiser just sub to you now you can put mr ostacruiser to work editing your videos😂😂 my wife and I love watching you two! It helps us escape day to day stress. Braaaap.
I wonder how other rigs do on that same spot- like Jeep, Hummer, pickups...
Sherp is way cool but huge tires means higher center of gravity.
It happened because the driver applied brake @5:38 which locked the rear wheels resulting in flip. During such very steep attack, if the climb is unsuccessful then best bet is to brake lightly or let the brake off so that it can roll back easily
These things are just too cool. Such a basic concept that's so effective.
Could weld on a departure angle restrictive wheely bar?:)
It is very possible to roll a sherp I've been in one when it rolled the salesman looked at us and said wanna have some fun ? Then next thing I know we were rolling over
I know people here in Newfoundland that have rolled them too
Cool video, I wonder if they can invent something to get them out of being flipped over...imagine they were doing some srs offroading and got stuck by themselves? Maybe in this case they'd have to tie the front end to some tree and reverse and hope for the best?
Should put wheelie wheel in the back, like dragsters ...or counterweight swivel arm on top ..
I guess somebody was glad they didn't listen and did not pull the rope x)
that could have been a DARWIN award there... NEVER in your life go between two vehicles and a rope....my gosh. Stupidest idea ever.
I could only imagine buying an adult powerwheels
watched a suzuki samurai do basically the same thing today, the difference was me and my buddy grabbed his front bumper one hand each and set him back in a good position.
Can't imagine how much work it took to install those power lines out there

You got really lucky there
It was way too lightweight to hurt anything or anyone
@@ostacruiser If you looked at the video again, the entire buckle was dislodged as well and came flying out. The rope itself might not do any damage, the metal buckle certainly will. If it hits someone in the face or the head, he is a goner.
Lucky bastards.
@@sgtjyf01 I don't have to look at the video lol I was there
@@ostacruiser He's right though, nobody should EVER stand there let alone grab the rope that's under tension between two vehicles, and with a metal hook wrapped on one end?
Literally people die in situations like this. It's all over this site that you're on if you look for it.
Get some longer recovery straps/bubba ropes and soft shackles.
@@farlesbarkley1022 People die when a vehicle is completely buried in mud and the extraction vehicle takes an insane run loading the recovery gear with tens of thousands of pounds of force, this was far from the case here. I will be first to admit that we did not have proper recovery gear on this demo run, we made due with what we had on hand and everything worked great, the cheap rope we tied at one end was the perfect fuse to make sure no crazy loads we applied to either machine. I have seen some crazy stuff in off-road recovery in the last 20 years for sure lol
Anybody else clicked on it because it looks like the zahba from gta

Definitely the older sherp had less air in the rear tires. It changed the angle just enough to roll over. The newer sherp had more air and created the perfect angle to get up and over the rock. These are amazing machines.
Excellent video hopefully sherp replaces it for free for public service video ! Love these machines!!!
They are Sherp Canada. They'll get her fixed up and looking new in no time
That flat tire didn’t do the sherp any favors
It’s not flat. Just low psi
Roll cage bars prevented Sherp from rolling. hmmmm.
The purpose of a roll cage isn't to stop the vehicle rolling, its to protect the people in the vehicle when the it does roll completely over so the roof doesn't collapse and crush its occupants.
A little lateral reinforcement (some bars up the sides) for the rollcage and you wouldn't have even had the inconvenience of that stuck back hatch. The sherp is darn near perfect.
Man these sherp vehicles are awesome 😁
I always consider rollbars a 1 time use kind of thing
you can use it twice? awesome, thats profit!
have to replace it? then it did its job and absorbed all the damage
That roll cage definitely did it's job, but it's a bit concerning that there's nothing pinning it laterally in the whole rear half. Even some plate sections welded in at the bottom corners ending at the window, then continuing on the outside of the bars would give it a ton more stability.
Hey is this testing in the Kenora area?
What if he filled his back tires and lowered his front tire pressure, would he have made, or would he have done better
That yellow Sherp is awesome
Tyre pressure was too low it was running on wheel, was it carrying a load as at a point load shift would also pull it over?
I was never fond of cars, but this car would make me very happy.
I like that yellow Sherp
Lower pressure in rear tyres increased climb angle.
Legendary car. Sherp is awesome.
Awesome video and I am sure your a great guy but your giggling is over the top. Cheers!
