This is a good version, but the original is AMAZING. The song is about an outlaw and his girl trying to outrun a posse. He refuses to go back to Texas with the posse to face whatever justice for what he'd done, so he decided to stand his ground and fight or die. He was taken out, Seven Spanish angels took him home (to heaven), so she prayed to God to forgive her, because she picked up an empty rifle to cause the posse to shoot her too and send her to be with her man. Seven Spanish Angels then took her home as well. "She reached down and picked the gun up That lay smokin' in his hand She said, "Father please forgive me I can't make it without my man" And she knew the gun was empty And she knew she couldn't win But her final prayer was answered When the rifles fired again AND, on a side note, Allyson and Keith Whitley duet is the best. It is Keith Whitley's song (When you say nothing at all) that she covered many years after his death, but there is a version where the two were merged on the song, it is great.
This version is beautiful; Ray's & Willie's is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION- Willie's pure country soul paired with Ray's incomparable blues style- IT'S TEARS & GOOSEBUMPS!!!
Nothing makes me happier than watching new folks discover Jamey Johnson. I'm 33 years old and unfortunately when I go see him live, I'm usually one of the youngest people at the show. Most of his music will probably never be requested for you for reactions, so I highly recommend checking out his albums in your personal time. I promise you won't be disappointed. As for some good reaction material, I'd suggest "Between Jennings and Jones", "My Saving Grace", "My Home's In Alabama" live, "If I Needed You", "Mowing Down The Roses." The list could go on and on, but those are some of his more popular songs. Thank-you for the reactions and enjoy the heck outta this rabbit hole 🙂 Discovering an artist like Jamey for the first time doesn't happen very often..
The line that Allison sang was 'When the RIFLES fired again'. The movie that plays in my head during this song... an outlaw, with his woman by his side, are on the run from a posse. they crossed the Rio Grande river into Mexico... but the posse caught up to them and forced a final showdown... he gets shot and killed.... and she, not wanting to live without him, picks up his gun, knowing it was out of ammunition, and pointed it at the posse, who not knowing it was empty, shot and killed her....
Please listen to That Lonesome Song by Jamey Johnson! It is another one of his classics. Live or recorded is great! Give it away is also amazing and His cover of Georgia On My Mind is great too.
Not only does Willie and Ray have Seven Spanish Angels together, but they also have the underrated Sinatra cover It Was A Very Good Year. That was Rays final album Genius Loves Company which has some other wonderful underrated hits.
I find it fascinating that Alison Krause has won 27 Grammy’s. The only woman who has won more is Beyoncé. She is the 4th in the list of most Grammy’s won. But you should fall down her rabbit hole. Not only is her voice fantastic, her fiddling skills are incredible.
I met Allison when I was 8 years old at a bluegrass festival we walked by and I asked my dad if that was the angel voice lady...he said yeah son and she told me I was cute gave me a hug and her and the cox family gave us signed pictures
Krauss has a great voice for this song - it's like hearing an angel. And Jamey's voice is so masculine, they go great together. Ray & Willie made magic on this song- Ray had an extensive Country & Western career. Love this song - a tribute to the longing of love and freedom. As a songwriter, I think Jamey really focuses on the lyrics, which I like. Traditionally this is considered a song about an outlaw and his love. in my head, this is from the time before Texas was part of the U.S. Have you reacted to "Whiskey Lullaby"? Krauss takes Sad Duet to new levels.
You need to do more Alison Krauss songs. Her cover of Johnny Cash’s “Captain’s Daughter”, or her and Union Station doing “My Love Follows You Where You Go”.
Britt, Alison sang another song at this Willie Nelson event. "Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground". Very beautiful, plus, it brought Willie's companion (and me) to tears (not sure who she was). It on UA-cam also. It will amaze you. If you've already done it, sorry, I didn't see it in your list.
Three things: The seven Spanish angels represent the seven angels who stood before the throne of God in the Book of Revelation. The first time you reacted to this song was a country awards-show performance by Chris and Morgane Stapleton and Dwight Yoakam. And three, I loved the look of appreciation on Willie's face as Alison and Jamey sang one of his all-time favorites. One other thing that might surprise you -- Ray Charles is in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
I will echo the throngs of people calling for the Ray & Willie version, especially since you have reacted to this song by Stapleton & Yoakam and now this awesome duo!!
if you like Harmony....look up Linda Ronstadt ADIOS arranged by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys who wrote incredible harmonies and this is one of his best...and Linda is incredible. she holds notes forever and really shows off another side of her voice..
You should check out Alison Krauss with Union Station live. The lineup from the early 2000's with Jerry Douglas is one of the best live bands I've ever seen. The 2002 live in Louisville show is amazing. I love the song, "Forget About it," but the whole show is great.
allison held the grammy record until beyonce recently broke it. i think she has around twenty five grammies. incredible artist vocalist and damn she can play the fiddle.
I tell you what , when you see Ray and Willie do the OFFICIAL version, you won't only hear the magic but it will fill the voids you appropriately point out in covers... Get ready for the best, live and official version only 👍 Ray takes lead
Britt, you should try Alan Jackson and Patty Loveless singing Monday morning church! It's right up there with George Jones, He stopped loving her today!
I'd suggest a reaction to Alison's song "Jacob's Dream". Based on a true story. A couple of other songs with a similar theme that you might enjoy: "Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde" by Travis Tritt and "Bullets in The Gun" by Toby Keith. As always thanks for a great reaction.
she couldn't live without her man, so she pointed the rifle at the posse so they'd shoot her dead too. And seven Spanish angels took another angel home. She asked for forgiveness first, because suicide is frowned upon and she knew the gun was empty.
Hi, I love your channel! I would love you to do a first reaction to Earth Wind & Fire "Reasons" from their "Gratitude" album. It's the best live performance recording of this song. It's only audio, and there are video recordings of the song (which a lot of reactions do to) as well as the original album version, but this one is the best version, which if you hear you will understand why. At that time EW&F were jamming on stage so every time they played songs it sounded different, but this version is perfection beyond words. If you already know this version, can you do a reaction on the live video? All version are different, but again the version from Gratitude is unique. The words are so powerful, the music is so enchanting, and Philip Baily's voice is perfection. This specific version supersede any other version online. The album also has "New World Symphony" - it's long, it's completely instrumental, but if you never heard it, it's simply going to take you to places you never felt before with music. I promise you. Both "Reasons" and "New World Symphony" are the highest pick of EW&F as a band and as live musicians. You heard the crowd reaction to confirm it. People who saw EW&F live described their shows as a spiritual experience. It is. "Gratitude" is my favourite live album ever. Deepest love, E
Please download lyrics when you do a reaction, it helps YOU to understand the song. Often if you keep listening it answers your questions so you don't have to stop and ask us.
You should do a reaction to "In Every Dream Home A Heartache". Lyrics could be a bit uncomfortable but they depict the desperation of a man with only his own materialism to accompany him, and well, an inflatable sex doll. One of my favorites
The 1st these reactor if find history about the author and music composer of the different songs we as their listeners are also curious about them and we think that since you guys make a living from songs it would be easier for them to find out details like the ones mentioned here
Yes, please do a reaction to Willie and Ray’s version of this. It’s a classic! 👍🏼
This is a good version, but the original is AMAZING.

Jamie and Allison's voices are like Earth and Air. Solid and light.
Nothing makes me happier than watching new folks discover Jamey Johnson. I'm 33 years old and unfortunately when I go see him live, I'm usually one of the youngest people at the show. The Ray Charles and Willie Nelson version is the ultimate one to listen to.

When the Rifles fired again but you have to do the original with Ray and Willie!!!!
Please listen to That Lonesome Song by Jamey Johnson! It is another one of his classics. Live or recorded is great!

A favorite. Completely agree the voices combine well, and I'm glad you noticed the background singers.........the cherry on the sundae. Lovely.
Lovely version of this great song!!

If I ever win the lottery, I'm hiring Ailson Krauss to record one of my songs. Her voice is perfection.
Whiskey Lullaby is a great song to react to!
Jamie Johnson studio version of lead me home...
The organ and those backup singers.... OMG..
You need to do more Alison Krauss songs. Her cover of Johnny Cash’s “Captain’s Daughter”, or her and Union Station doing “My Love Follows You Where You Go”.

Ray Charles sarted out in country music. This song has been covered by countless singers.
Jamey Johnson's "In Color", much of anything by Alison Krauss. Also, Alison has 2 albums with Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin)
I will echo the throngs of people calling for the Ray & Willie version, especially since you have reacted to this song by Stapleton & Yoakam and now this awesome duo!!
Alison Jamey love you
Absolutely look up Ray and Willie's version. Jamey is from about an hour from me in Alabama. Bama born, crimson bleeds
This version is great but I grew up on Willie & Rays version and it is heart warming…

Ray and Willie wrote the song together and performed it. It’s the best.

You need to do Ren "Fred Again Mashup" fire 🔥 vocals!!!
This is the song they did together, Ray Charles and Willie Nelson.
You should check out “should have seen it in color” by Jamie Johnson
she couldn't live without her man, so she pointed the rifle at the posse so they'd shoot her dead too. And seven Spanish angels took another angel home. She asked for forgiveness first, because suicide is frowned upon and she knew the gun was empty.

We hunt fish farm plant and we don't dial 911. Texas. Stay well and groovy my friend. Good night Graceland
Rifles . It’s back in the cowboy days with horses and posies.
Just a beautiful song. Willie and Ray Charles’ version is fire.
when the Rifles fired again.....she basically pointed his empty gun at the posse, knowing they'd shoot her...cuz she couldn't live without her man
Another good reaction video. Well done - don't change. See you in your next one. God Bless you and yours.
And angel 😇. Her and Robert Plant the singer of led zeppelin did work together should check them out..
I think the seven Spanish angels is a reference to seven angels in Revelations
If you are obsessed with deep voices, go listen to Trace Adkins - Arlington.
I'd like to see your reaction to Jeannie Seely's "Don't Touch Me" year was 19661966
You need to listen to Whiskey Lullaby, Allison Krauss and Brad Paisley
Yeah, gotta say, as big an Alison Krauss fan as I am the original is tough to top.
Rifles fired again
FYI... it's "rifles fired again".
Here's A Request 😊 Listen To Gary Puckett And The Union Gap's Song .. Woman Woman .. We'll Be Looking Forward To Your Reaction
Singing slow is what he has in common with Alison Krauss because she likes very slow songs.
Gotta do original Willie and Ray. Also have to do Chris Stapleton and Dwight Yoakum live version. I can't pick between the 2
it takes place in mexico lol at a mission in mexico RIFFLES
Sierra Ferrell's rendition of this is crazy too. Check her out you will not be disappointed.

Yes! This is a great version but Willie and Ray……..no comparison! It’s amazing!
Ray Charles and George jones also have a song together
This is very good, Alison has a voice of an angel. But the original is 100% the best. And it is the rifles not rivals.
When the RIFLES (A Gun) fired again
Willie and Ray have the best version
