In terms of gameplay, Kobe is the nearest to Jordan.
Probably right. The thought of a combination of the athleticism he had back then combined with the feel for and understanding of the game that he has now is scary.
vince was compared because of his ability on dunking and his effectiveness on his team, but now he has slow down, while jordan was still a top player on his edge years
He was fearless his first few years. He was headed in the direction of greatness until his injury which left him too shook to go to the basket. Then he fell in love with the jumpshot and became passive all together. A mental thing as someone suggested early.
I love how players are immediately written off because they couldn't meet some sort of insane expectation. MJ is widely regarded as the G.O.A.T., yet when someone is compared to him it's the kiss of death. If that player (Kobe, VC, Grant Hill, etc.) pales in comparison, then they will go down as having a lackluster career.

didier48 I respect your opinion, but MJ played fewer games (400+ fewer games) than Kareem. MJ also averaged 30ppg for his career. Wilt actually played in fewer games than both MJ and Kareem - I think you could make a better case for him being the GOAT. But in my opinion it's MJ.
IN MY HEART MICHAEL IS THE BEST BUT MY POINT IS HEY GUYS ITS NOT SO OBVIOUS THAT MICHAEL IS THE BEST IT IS VERY DIFFICULT.. AND MY REAL POINT IS DONT PUT KOBE OR LEBRON IN THE SAME SENTENCE WITH MICHAEL KAREEM WILT LARRY MAGIC OSCAR OR RUSSELL...
didier48 If you include college then yeah, Kareem has the best resume. Professional basketball is MJ. You have to consider competition, era, 10 scoring titles, many playoff records, 6 playoff MVPs. Playoff MJ > regular season MJ. Kobe and Lebron should go past Kareem and Wilt first to be compared to MJ.
01:13 RIP Chuck...but MJ came on subtly lol....wtf? r u nuts? he blew up like crazy his rookie year....shoes, commercials, packed out crowds, massive scoring over 2000 points lol....hell nah it was not subtle

Well to respond to your question;that's true to a certain extent, but take in for example when Shaq was also the main focus in Orlando between '92-'96,Penny Hardaway(arrived in '93&played 3 positions PG/SG&SF)averaged numbers between '93-'96 were:19ppg/4rebs/7ast/2.0stls and shot 49% from the field.Kobe while sharing the ball w/Shaq for 8 years averaged:21ppg/5rebs/4ast/1stl and shot 45%. And Kobe was only a bench player for his 1st 2 seasons, after that he avg:25ppg/6rebs/5ast/45% shooting.

He never had a shot cause he prime was during the late 80s so their was the Bad Boys Showtime and the Celtics. Then after they fell off he had to face MJ . Sometimes I wonder what would happen if MJ never played or won.
@june0024 You have a good point and I agree with you, but one thing for sure is that VC will never compare to jordan , he's a good player but that's it..
Jordan led the league in total points in his rookie season. Pretty crazy. Dude though had all the skills early on. Post up, fadeaway, stop and pop, up and unders, drives, dunks, jumpshooting, moving without the ball, etc. With Vince he didn't necessarily have all those skills from the beginning. What he developed very quickly was his shooting. Greatest dunker in history.
thx for the upl. VC...just wasn't meant to be. Ppl mention the injuries and what not, but I don't think he ever had the mentality, the toughness, the ultimate competitor's will. Kobe, a lesser talent, had that. Unfortunately, one has to say Kobe is the closest to MJ between the two.
Jordan as a rookie was already the best player in the nba, vince wasn't even close during his rookie season or any other season for that matter, people are out of control with these stupid comparisons.
+LovingLife I think you got it reversed. Vince came out being the most electrifying athlete next to tiger woods in 1999-2002. MJ was kinda low key, remember he didnt win a championship til like years and years into the nba.
cotegt in case you forgot Jordans Rookie Season stats 28.2 ppg 6.5 rpg 5.9 apg 2.4 spg compared to Vince 18.3 ppg 5.7 rpg 3.0 apg 1.1 spg Now remember they both played approximately the same minutes, so there is no excuse. Unlike Kobe who started on the bench his Rookie Season. And to put into perspective, Vince never got close his entire career to Jordans Rookie seasons numbers, yet Jordan topped himself several seasons during his career. Jordan was electrifying fans with his aerial play from day one. How do you think he became known as Air Jordan ? Vince gets compared to Jordan because he was exciting too. But showboating isn't the same as being the Greatest to ever play the game.
+Thank You Jordan was chasing stats and played somewhat selfish. not to take anything away from his greatness. but he would not have the same success against the teams that peaked in other eras....Lakers Celtics spurs rockets...etc
make whatever excuses you like but Jordan was the best individual player in the NBA from day one to the last title, even though he improved as a team player through his years. And no one comes close to being compared to him, least of all Vince who never had the same impact or desire. He had abilities and gifts, but he did not get the most out of it, like Jordan did. That is the thing people forget, Jordan played to his full potential, not many great players did that for their whole careers.
You're right for the most part. I disagree about him being a quitter though. The media definitely twisted that a lot. At the end of his Toronto days, he just had enough of the false promises. The GM promised to bring in talent year after year and never did, so he packed his bags and decided enough was enough. He didn't feel wanted. I do agree that if he did have the work ethic and passion, like a Kobe does, he'd truly be up there as one of the best players ever, not just dunkers.
This is simply stupid. Vince and MJ are nothing alike. Their games are so dissimilar that you can't really make a valid comparison. Vince reminds me a lot more of Julius Irvin than MJ per se. The media gets ridiculously stupid with all the MJ comparisons. They would compare any small forward or shooting guard to MJ no matter how different their styles are. LeBron is a bigger, stronger, faster and more powerful and athletic version of Magic Johnson, in my opinion. His game and style is nothing like MJ's either and yet the media constantly compares the two. I guess they are tired of Kobe and are now looking for a new kid on the block. Kobe is a copycat, he is a self created copy of MJ. But he too falls short of being MJ or being better than him.
Vince Carter in his prime was a super athletic version of Paul Pierce. Vince was a lazy defender. Kobe Bryant is the closest to Michael Jordan than anyone else.
Carter just chucks 3s throughout his career . MJ probably never took more then 100 a season. The only reason why VC is still playing is because the Grizzlies needed a sharp shooter and Vince shot 29% from 3 . YIKES . MJ was a slasher . Vince's game is built almost entirely off athleticism. During his Career he should of changed his style from athletic to a more kobe type of style. Thats why players like Dirk Duncan And Kobe are now because the base of their game isn't athleticism. Thats what made the Spurs great. MJ is a different thing. He could still fly during his later half of his career 95-03 . I dont know what to say about him besides the fact that in Washington he was still better than most Superstars
Jordan led Chicago to their Championship thrice in a row,he retired, came back & won another three ! He was a good scorer, dunker, player, defender. He could do everything. He made NBA popular all over the world with what he could do. He was soooo good that Detroit Pistons had to make a different strategy for Jordan "The Jordan Rules". No disrespect.Wilt was great, one of the best center. But one of the greatest players ever to play NBA,MJ is at the top!
notice that john elway's retirement is mentioned at the bottom of the screen, which means this was made in 1999. at the time, vince was young and had the athleticism of jordan. he just never had the drive, which has become apparent today. he sure as hell is the best dunker ever though
Bro Stephen A Smith said the EXACT same thing a few weeks ago on First Take. He said every time he looks at Vince Carter he cant help but think how he could have become like a Kobe Bryant
Also, the 2nd run of the Bulls had Ron Harper at PG and Luc Longley at C. In VC's second tenure with NJ he has one of the best PG's ever in JKidd, a perfect complimentaryI SF. He had talent around him, and he never got out of the 2nd round, and you're trying to compare him to a guy who has 6 rings?
It's amazing that this was a conversation at one time. What's even more amazing is that I see comments about VC possibly being better than MJ. Youngsters are so blinded by sportscenter highlights. MJ was at 31PPG at 50% from the field at the time and is one of the most savage defenders of alltime. And MJ did it in the brutal 90's. This eras rules are made for players to have easy dunks. See how often VC get impeded or hit at the rack now go watch MJ and you'll understand. Kids are so dumb.
@TheMyth619 He played in the tail end of the 90s so he did experience a bit of the era You don't even have to mention the contact he didn't have to face to see there's no comparison. Jordan was passionate and willing to improve, Vince started strong in the beginning, and stopped caring after team success didn't come easy for him.
Wow...Jack Ramsey was already talking shit at that time (just like he did later on when he compared Lebron/MJ and the dream team to team USA). Jordan ALREADY had a post game in his rookie season. In fact he had all the aspects of his game as a rookie as Chuck Daily would OFTEN say but he just developed them. The only thing that he didn't have yet as a rookie was the 3 point shot. And how in the world Jack Ramsey can conclude by saying Carter has a little edge on MJ as a rookie??? Statistically, It's not even close. In terms of level of play, it's even further ! But that's the war the media did to Jordan ever since he retired (even the first time). They try to do everything they can to destroy his status as the GOAT by paying some guys with a little credibility as a basketball persona and misleading the general public. That's a shame...
+Air Magic Hey, huge MJ fan here, but I think you look at it from a wrong perspective. I think the basketball world/media/fans and so on, at least a big part of it, was DESPERATELY searching for a guy, who could carry the league like Jordan did. Because there had never been a player who drew so much attention to the NBA, worldwide, like MJ did in the 90s. Once this gap was produced, they had to come up with the next big superstar. I don't think they were trying to destroy MJ's legacy...I mean if every fan thinks like that, 80's fans might say that the media destroyed the Bird and Magic legacy by putting Jordan above them. And of course, they want us to debate, to talk about, to compare, to have different opinions...to me MJ was the greatest, because he was the one who made me wanna play basketball as a kid. My dad says, there was nothing like the mid 80s Bird. Now the young generation says "Lebron" or "Curry is the shit!" "GOAT" whatever...
If I'm not mistaken, Kobe had the most dominant center ever on his team. Vince Carter was the #1 option to pass the ball too ever since he was drafted. Kobe was a bench player. Shaq had the ball most of the time while Kobe was the second option.
in my opinion carter is the next jordan, he may not have the skills mj had on the court, but his dunks are unreal and he's got alot of hangtime in the air like mj..nuff said!!!
@TheMyth619 let the youngsters think what they think man. theyll never be convinced. only people that understand basketball through EVERY era can appreciate how great MJ was, cause like you said the 90's was quite possibly the physical decade in pro ball history. i agree with everything you said, but the reason this was a conversation at one time is because people will always look for the next jordan, they anticipate it, and because of that players who have done nothing draw that sad comparison
@TheMyth619 Yea but you can never compare 2 players by their stats because it all depends on who's on your team. A VC fan could argue that Vince had a bad team.
Peeps drank the Vinsanity Koolaid for 4 seasons...Even had the injuries not hit, I never thought Vince had the heart or the competitve drive as MJ...Vince was too nice.
@TheMyth619 I'm actually more of a hockey fan to be honest... But with I would agree with you that MJ is one of the greatest if not the greatest of all time
Everyone Vote Vince Carter Into 2014 All Star Game, His career is coming to the end and us true NBA fans would want nothing more for the upcoming year then to have him on the team (Spread The Word ) #VC2014
Umm,Vince wasn't with Orlando during the 2008-09 season. He was with them in 2010 though. But they lost to the Boston Celtics in the East Finals that year. And plus,Vince Carter has been washed up for the last 4-5 years now.
I remember way back in the day. Me and my pops were watching a bulls game. Pops said.....you are watching the greatest player ever! And the greatest you will ever see! Vince.....better by a far sight than Kobe....James and Curry. But not on Jordan’s level.
MJ lead the league in total points. Bernard in ppg. What's interesting is that Bernard wasn't even in the top 5 in total points that year. MJ was also 4th in steals (per game and total).
look at what they were saying at that time...get guys on T.V. to say V.C. had an edge on jordan, the same guy they found to say that 2012 team would have a chance vs dream team... after V.C.,it was "K.B. is better than M.J.", and then "KB is as good as M.J." and then M.J. is better but K.B. is there" LOL... now it is LBJ but it is even more ridiculous...it's all hype. but what I love about V.C.,he has the exact same kind of creativity as M.J. and no one else comes close...maybe prime WADE...
@gottgaame Would would you rather have a player that can put up 30 at 50% shooting with contact or someone that can put up 24 at 45% shooting with open lanes and no contact. Simple math. Not even adding being able to create his own shot, is clutch, and knock down freethrows. Don't need to add play lockdown D. The players you mention can shoot all they want. You might get a lot of 40 point games and 40% or less. Basic math.
If You want,I'll give you the stats for Kobe from '98 to 01,to be fair. Kobe-98-01 24ppg/5.9rebs/4.6ast/1.6stls/0.8blk/46.6% shooting/22.0PER/54.9TS% Vince-98-01 24.6ppg/5.7rebs/3.7ast/1.3stls/1.2blks/46% shooting/23.1PER/54.2TS% I just gave an example of why from 1997 to 2001 that players like Vince,Penny,A.I. and Grant were considered the successors to Jordan more so than Kobe was at the time. And plus they were all the leading men on their teams, while Kobe was 2nd to 3rd best in those years.
If I'm not mistaken, this peace by ESPN,was done in 2001,and Kobe wasn't even close to being mentioned with Vince Carter,Allen Iverson,Grant Hill,or Penny Hardaway, let alone Jordan. Vince's average between '99 to '01 was:24,6ppg/3.7ast/5.7rebs/FG%46%/3pt%39.5 Kobe's average between '97 to '01 was 18.5ppg/3.4ast/4.4rebs/FG%45%/3pt%32.5 That's facts that Vince was better than Kobe during that Era,and Vince showed promise, that he was the "next Jordan" but like others his career was derailed.
Where was Vince now ??? In His Toronto and Nets Era Vince is not consistent as he was as a player Vince is not improving as for Kobe Bryant he keeps Gettin better every year even now 34 years old still dunking on two people , blocking lebron , hit 3 clutch 3's , carrying the struggling lakers I bet The Prime Vince cant even do what Kobe is doing in his 34 years old
It was a different era, the competition back then wasn't as good as it is now. MJ didn't have to play against the superior talent thta's in the league now. I don't think MJ would be as popular as he is if he started his career in the late 90's like carter did.
Grant hill, iverson, bryant, stackhouse, carter, lebron: they all are compared to the same guy but at the end this guys will be forgotten and JORDAN will always be known as the best of all time...
WE ALL KNOW,Vince is done, bro.I was just pointing out that Kobe wasn't better than Vince during those days. Vince Carter had a lazy a mentality.......unlike Kobe Bryant..........personally I believe that's why Vince Carter didn't last as long as Bryant.
I also disagree about him laughing. That's another way to show that he loves the game. He just shows it differently. It shows he has fun on the court. He's not Mr. Serious all the time, though he can be when he needs to be. Overall, he had all the talent, just not someone who wanted to be the go to guy. Though if you look at his numbers, he's been very clutch in his career on last second shots.
I got to feel bad for Vince. He had/has talent, but he didn't have Jordan's WIN OR DIE!!! approach and people bega hating on him when he didn't play like Jordan.
ESPN doing it like always.. trying to compare to MJ.. not even the best players of today have lived up to MJ's resume.. the closes is still falling so very short.. Kobe Bryant or Lebron James.. They are talking about physical skills.. but.. thats only half of it.. there is also intelligence on the floor.. making it even further to come close to MJ's leadership....
well im 13 now and know a lot more 26blks 55rebs againts B Rizzle (Bill Russel) im the biggest Bulls fan ever but Wilt and MJ r tied for 1st place in my opinion
Its a shame that a lot of great players keep getting compared to Michael. Can't ppl just give Vince credit for being an great and explosive player? smh
VC got the legs and now has his injuries... MJ got the hands with no to much injuries... but MJ is the real player who can shoot the freethrow on clutch time and everything is equal to his attributes ... i admit that VC is my most favorite player but he lacks of shooting skills and due to his high flying capabilities it led to his nightmares now when i see him dunking he is just an ordinary player but has a mentality of a superstar
Vince Carter grew to be nothing like Jordan Kobe or himself even, he grew to be a nobody with no rings no championship and just one dunk contest to his name, he was averaging 40-50 points in he's highest season stats, but now he's scoring 3 points and it's a bench player a broke man with a divorce marriage while Kobe Bryant grew to be a Legend, I loved Vince I'm just taking facts here, Jordan will forever remain undisputed king of basketball god made Jordan in a machine or something
Life didn't like Vince Carter he could've won rings and championships, he was good I don't know what lead his poor decisions and judgement and he ruined his whole legacy there will never be another high flyer high dunker raptor like him, we truly miss the old Vince, hopefully like me other raptor fans and management team can forgive him and let him retire in his original Jersey #15 Vince Carter Raptors
TakeFlightMJ23 Vince Carter is a Bitch Nigga, who betrayed Toronto Organization, Betrayed his fans, hung up his jerseys and he's talent and played the hurt game and cried like a bitch that ain't no greatness Jlo 😂😂😂 that's a bitch and the old generation of Greatness he's name is Michael Jordan, and in the new Generation his name is Steph Curry 👑👑👑
TakeFlightMJ23 next time you call someone a bitch make sure they don't eat you alive!! I bet everyone's laughing reading this shit looking at your dp and they're like he's right 😂😂😂
+Ahmad Omari wow! you need a serious chill pill. Vince is one of the best overall athletes ever, and was a super basketball player in all aspects. dirty playing by dudes like bruce Bowen caused him to change his game. you must be a Canadian.
@gabrielcarlothomas Well look at how stacked the Lakers are. When you took out Mj on the Bulls, the scoring lead decreased. When yo utake out Kobe, the Lakers can even extend the lead. They got Theo Ratliff coming off the bench and 3 good point guards and 4 All Stars in Odom, Gasol, Kobe & Artest and almost everyone on that team can shoot 3s. Thats crazy stacked.
@darekvc No offense man, but VC isnt even close. LBJ and KB are way closer but still a distant 2nd. Vince could dunk, but has a slower first step. To open up his game, he added the 3pt shot. Vince can dunk and shoot 3s. And even then, he cant make his teammates better. Vince wasnt a great passer, a great dribbler and has a lot more inconsistent. Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway were way better ball players, but their injuries cost them their potential. Vince Carter was jsut a dunking reel.
michael jordan is better, but you have to say michael when he won rings had scottie pippen like the 3rd best player in the nba then dennis rodman the best rebounder and defence. and always had great 3 point shooters
"MJ is often imitated never duplicated."
Describes it perfect.
WORD!!

Vince is a good player , but let's face it people you can't compare Vince Carter to the greatest player ever MJ23 ,
the comparison ends on the dunking ability
Vince was still a rookie at that time and people think he might potentially be the next Jordan if he improves and I think the reason they're being compared is mostly because of the style of them dunking. if its all about dunk , vince is better , but over all , mj is way better
vince was compared because of his ability on dunking and his effectiveness on his team, but now he has slow down, while jordan was still a top player on his edge years
Combination of Dominique and Jordan... Sick!
He was fearless his first few years. He was headed in the direction of greatness until his injury which left him too shook to go to the basket. Then he fell in love with the jumpshot and became passive all together. A mental thing as someone suggested early.

From that list in the beginning, Kobe
Stats may not show it but VC is a pretty good defender. He also had a more consistent 3pt shot. MJ is the GOAT period.
Vince carter problem was and still is that he didn't play for a team who has the capabilities to win many NBA Championships.
I think so too
Vince Carter is a legend without NBA trophies. sorry for him really. i see some players who don't deserve but they were lucky to play for a team which has great other players.

Difference was Charles Oakley made Vince Carter cry to his mamma.
Oakley was MJ's bodyguard, and whenever they played each other, MJ made Oakley shake in fear.
Nice to see some of my uploads make it to UA-cam.
@gottgaame I agree to a point. I think smaller quick penetrating guards like D-Rose, and Wade are definitely helped by the rules changes though.
People forget Dominique in his prime too. He played during the era of Magic, Bird, Barkley, MJ, so he couldn't advance. But he was a human highlight film.

I do agree that if he did have the work ethic and passion, like a Kobe does, he'd truly be up there as one of the best players ever, not just dunkers.
vince is wahsed up now, but back in toronto he was a monster so explosive. vince was one of the best players back in the day
This is simply stupid. But he too falls short of being MJ or being better than him.
good point
Agreed.
Their game was similar wtf are u talking about
Vince Carter in his prime was a super athletic version of Paul Pierce.
I've never seen Vince rock the cradle like Michael Jordan did in his rookie year Vince is a vette Mj is a Lamborghini enough Said!
Watch him in North Carolina. He rock the shit outta that cradle on the fast break.
then kobe's a mclaren!
But one of the greatest players ever to play NBA,MJ is at the top!
notice that john elway's retirement is mentioned at the bottom of the screen, which means this was made in 1999. at the time, vince was young and had the athleticism of jordan. he just never had the drive, which has become apparent today. he sure as hell is the best dunker ever though
he had so much potential and wasted it, could've been up there on kobes level
yes you are right,I think he is to blame because of his work ethic and dedication
Bro Stephen A Smith said the EXACT same thing a few weeks ago on First Take. He said every time he looks at Vince Carter he cant help but think how he could have become like a Kobe Bryant
I dont think he got shipped out for offending him. He was 37 years old on like a 3 year 21 million contract
Also, the 2nd run of the Bulls had Ron Harper at PG and Luc Longley at C. In VC's second tenure with NJ he has one of the best PG's ever in JKidd, a perfect complimentaryI SF. He had talent around him, and he never got out of the 2nd round, and you're trying to compare him to a guy who has 6 rings?
vince= best dunkel
Michel jordan = GOAT
Often imitated but never duplicated.
Did they realize that Tracy Mcgrady wuz on that team too...it crazy that they havent mentioned his name.
@TheMyth619
He played in the tail end of the 90s so he did experience a bit of the era You don't even have to mention the contact he didn't have to face to see there's no comparison. Jordan was passionate and willing to improve, Vince started strong in the beginning, and stopped caring after team success didn't come easy for him.
mj is born to be greatest player while vc is born to be greatest dunker.
+Qiao Chi I'd take a prime Vince > MJ on my team any day
+Josh Dugan LOL I hope you're joking
+Josh Dugan troll
+Athanasios Kyriakidis yeah, but it's kinda like Ali and Tyson or whoever else you want. they hit prime at different time.
If I'm not mistaken, Kobe had the most dominant center ever on his team. Vince Carter was the #1 option to pass the ball too ever since he was drafted. Kobe was a bench player. Shaq had the ball most of the time while Kobe was the second option.
Vince is an elite player and will be until he retires. If he could move like he used to he'd be the best player in the league right now.
Michael Jordan Only.......not Vince Carter! :-!
As far as what? Not dunking...
Vince Cater is my favorite player Period! the 2 things that let him down are his injuries and fg percentage at times.
in my opinion carter is the next jordan, he may not have the skills mj had on the court, but his dunks are unreal and he's got alot of hangtime in the air like mj..nuff said!!!
What the hell are you talking about?Vince Carter never got to the NBA finals.
@joshua han he won a ring with dallas two years ago
i agree with u about fundamental skills ,but determination and leadership?
@TheMyth619 let the youngsters think what they think man. theyll never be convinced. only people that understand basketball through EVERY era can appreciate how great MJ was, cause like you said the 90's was quite possibly the physical decade in pro ball history. i agree with everything you said, but the reason this was a conversation at one time is because people will always look for the next jordan, they anticipate it, and because of that players who have done nothing draw that sad comparison
Not to mention in Slam Magazine Kobe said if he and T-Mac had stayed together they would have won CHAMPIONSHIPS! Plural!
and now we can all see what separates MJ from the rest... his abillity to get better, stay great, and never give up.
you're talking about 96-99, right? Then yes, kobe was sitting on the bench alot and shaq was the undeniable first option on every play
But with I would agree with you that MJ is one of the greatest if not the greatest of all time
Everyone Vote Vince Carter Into 2014 All Star Game, His career is coming to the end and us true NBA fans would want nothing more for the upcoming year then to have him on the team (Spread The Word ) #VC2014
i juss attack the basket and uhh whoever is in the way... kan be on the poster... ahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Hard work beats talent, when talent is not working hard.
Vince had more natural talent, but Jordan was smarter and practiced harder. No one practiced harder than MJ. Which is why he became the greatest ever.
Basic math.
@DW1014 You're exactly right.
what could have been... good luck in orlando, and finally get that ring!
@DW1014 he's also the greatest dunk contest participant in nba history
If You want,I'll give you the stats for Kobe from '98 to 01,to be fair.
Kobe-98-01
24ppg/5.9rebs/4.6ast/1.6stls/0.8blk/46.6% shooting/22.0PER/54.9TS%
Vince-98-01
24.6ppg/5.7rebs/3.7ast/1.3stls/1.2blks/46% shooting/23.1PER/54.2TS%
I just gave an example of why from 1997 to 2001 that players like Vince,Penny,A.I. and Grant were considered the successors to Jordan more so than Kobe was at the time. And plus they were all the leading men on their teams, while Kobe was 2nd to 3rd best in those years.
But also MJ had THE LOOK: he was smooth and balletic, he was powerful AND he was DARK-SKINNED.That is a plus😍 Particularly for us females!
Vince NEVER could do the LEANER 🐐 and the FREE THROW LINE 👍🏿 both of them considered 2 of GREATEST DUNKS EVER
carter was suppose to play for the bulls at first but he went wit the raptors.he would of really got mj comparisions if he woulda joined the bulls.
If I'm not mistaken, this peace by ESPN,was done in 2001,and Kobe wasn't even close to being mentioned with Vince Carter,Allen Iverson,Grant Hill,or Penny Hardaway, let alone Jordan.
Vince's average between '99 to '01 was:24,6ppg/3.7ast/5.7rebs/FG%46%/3pt%39.5
Kobe's average between '97 to '01 was 18.5ppg/3.4ast/4.4rebs/FG%45%/3pt%32.5
That's facts that Vince was better than Kobe during that Era,and Vince showed promise, that he was the "next Jordan" but like others his career was derailed.
no one is close to michael jordan.. lebron, kobe, dwayne wade and vince carter they are good players but they are not close, not even close. PERIOD...
Where was Vince now ??? In His Toronto and Nets Era
Vince is not consistent as he was as a player Vince is not improving
as for Kobe Bryant he keeps Gettin better every year
even now 34 years old still dunking on two people , blocking lebron , hit 3 clutch 3's , carrying the struggling lakers
I bet The Prime Vince cant even do what Kobe is doing in his 34 years old
It was a different era, the competition back then wasn't as good as it is now. MJ didn't have to play against the superior talent thta's in the league now. I don't think MJ would be as popular as he is if he started his career in the late 90's like carter did.
@eiroight he's on the Phoenix Suns now :)
They come close to him but there will never be him again in this era!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grant hill, iverson, bryant, stackhouse, carter, lebron: they all are compared to the same guy but at the end this guys will be forgotten and JORDAN will always be known as the best of all time...
its like comparing heaven and earth. There is no comparison.
They are talking about physical skills.. but.. thats only half of it.. there is also intelligence on the floor.. making it even further to come close to MJ's leadership....
you're right, but no one does man, NO one
well im 13 now and know a lot more 26blks 55rebs againts B Rizzle (Bill Russel) im the biggest Bulls fan ever but Wilt and MJ r tied for 1st place in my opinion
LOL! at the time, who was to say that Vince wouldn't do that?? LOL!!
Its a shame that a lot of great players keep getting compared to Michael. Can't ppl just give Vince credit for being an great and explosive player? smh
Nick Anderson: If i've had the ball, run the fastbreak. Vince Carter is on one end and Jesus on another.. i had to thrown it to Vince Carter.. LOL
Shut the fuck up and appreciate greatness bitch
VC deserves a Ring..
Vince Carter was jsut a dunking reel.
michael jordan is better, but you have to say michael when he won rings had scottie pippen like the 3rd best player in the nba then dennis rodman the best rebounder and defence. and always had great 3 point shooters
ahahahhaha 1:44 hilarious comparison jesus and carter hahahaha
Comparing NBA players to MJ is like comparing MLB players to Willie Mays!!!
