- Lucie Hobart is 56 years old and says she has no idea what age means anymore.
“I started CrossFit when I was 52,” she says, “but here I am … four years later, so I’m 56, and I know I am the healthiest today that I have ever been in my entire life, which really blows my mind.”
Mother to James Hobart, CrossFit Games Affiliate Cup competitor and a member of CrossFit’s Level 1 Seminar Staff, Lucie says her perspective on aging has changed since she started CrossFit.
When James noticed his mom was complaining about more aches and pains as she got older, he knew it was time to help her make a positive change.
“What CrossFit … can provide for masters athletes is perhaps the single most important piece of information that we have to offer,” James says. “I think that’s who CrossFit is really meant for.”
Now, Lucie has achieved things she never thought possible-such as getting her first strict pull-up.
“That has to be so far probably the biggest milestone in CrossFit,” she says. “To be able to pull up my own body weight.”

Great article. Never to old to START. At 67 I have been doing it now for 6 months and just love it. I come from a running / triathlon background so some of the drills seem to flow easily but when it comes to weights, it has and will be, a slow learning curve. With that said, I am seeing progress but at the older age, I have to be real careful not to push myself into the injury zone. As she pointed out, being consistent is the key. But Crossfir is just fun AND those young "kids" are very supportive of us old farts. By the way, big acknowledgement to Jeff Rufatto's Crossfit 262 and all the supporting cast.

Great to see what you have done Lucie. We need more people like you to encourage the rest.Age is just a figure. I started mountainbike racing at 68. I,ve finished in the top two in the 7 championships that I have competed in. Now is the time to change so at 71 I,m starting Crossfit training and will compete in my first event next March. My wife is also now hooked on Crossfit too and trains every day...........wait for it............she is 77!!!!
I am 60; take a barbell and dance class some lifting at home. Want to do more. Age is no limit. I too used to smoke and couldn't run two feet but the more I do the easier it gets. Don't give up. For those encouraging your mothers, thank you, that is wonderful
James, you were one of my L-1 instructors at Mayhem and I learned a lot from you. I cheered you on at the games and when you won. But what you have done for your mom, is truly the greatest thing a child can give a parent, health and fitness. Hope I can give my mother the same gift one day.

Wow you are such a inspiration, and what an awesome son! I wish I had a motivator. I’ll be 49 his month, I’m in the worst shape of my life, sever sarcopenia from being inactive for about 8 years. I’m also trying to quit smoking cigarettes and I use pot to help me sleep. You give me inspiration! Thank you for sharing.

Really need more than a "like' button here! Tons of respect for this woman and all people that do something similar to this later on in life! Goes to show that age really is just a number and you can be fit well into your 50's, 60's and beyond!

This video made me cry and inspired me to do the same and even more for my mom. She's getting old, of course but is not the time to go heaven yet, there is a lot to do!
Absolutely inspiring!!! Im 46 and past years I've been dedicated to various fitness- bootcamp, yoga, pilates, cardio kickboxing.. hot and cold classes and lost 20 lbs and gained muscle and speed and i think i look and 10 years younger and i just became certified this year to teach and hopefully pass on the gifts.
I love that you started 10 years later than me and doing cross fit which is super challenging!!! You give me hope that i can continue this lifestyle into my senior hood. So thanks for sharing this!

Wow.....so inspired...I am stuck on the overhead squat......will keep working on it after seeing Mrs. Hobart rock it. =) I did the zone diet years back in the 90s. Still have the two books....will dust the covers and dig in again. Thanks for this video for us older folks. =)

My first pull up was a BIG THING for me too! Working to get my first muscle up now. It doesn't feel like I ever will but I know I always feel like I will never succeed then suddenly I' m there, so I keep going 💪🏼

I keep trying to get my mom to start CF but she's resistant because of her weight. Been trying to help her with a simple diet and exercise plan. I hope to get her to the point she's comfortable going.
Jatok when I started CrossFit I weighed almost 280 pounds. I was scared just to walk in there. I thought the owner would turn me away. It took 4 months for me to do a full squat, 6 months to do a burpee, 12 months to do a push-up, and 18 to do a box jump. I'm almost 54 years old and still can't do many of the movements, but slow improvement is still improvement. Tell your mom the journey is its own reward. For me, CrossFit has been a gift from heaven. Good luck to both of you!

I think the son just wanted a fit girlfriend I got that vibe I watched it again and still got that vibe.
You should drop the meat and animal products and go 100%#plantbased and look up intermittent fasting and Autophagy its so antiaging
Im 56 and i look much younger and i was a life time smoker.
Its so life changing to start with our true diet and do fasting.
Maybe you dont believe that you can be better and stronger,but believe me and many top athletes is doing so too

Start CrossFit and believe me, your body will force you to quit. You will lose the desire to smoke.

joined gym 💪🏻 no cravings whts so ever
The best way to stop smoking is by smoking with a transparent filter . Once you are done , just look at all the tar nd chemicals which are in tht filter. Say to urself , this shit is going into my lungs nd lungs look like this filter . :) so quit as soon as possible nd join gym. Hope this might work fr u as it worked fr me .

She looked healthier 30 pounds heavier in my opinion...She looks like a very fit 70 year old now....I bet she's healthy and strong AF but still...
