Typical capitalist book.
Works for Bezos 🤷♂️
It's ironic because the subtle art of not giving a f*ck was actually the one book that taught me how important it is to take responsibility for the situations you face in life, rather than not giving a fuck.
It taught me to be more aware of my emotions and that the idea of perpetual happiness so many people chase after nowadays is a fool's errand.
Difference between pleasure and satisfaction was a nice piece of advice aswel.
Overal a nice little book in a time where everyone seems to be overthinking themselves into depression.

So as someone who has read Atomic Habits, I can comfortably say that the book is one of the only self-help books I would recommend. It not only says "get better", it explains the impact of creating good habits and how to actually go about doing so. Definitely worth whatever the current asking price is. Not a dig, just don't want people to miss out!
I agree, I like that it includes a ton of real-life examples along with very specific methods for building/breaking habits. That was exactly what I needed when I first read it.
Bot comment
Honestly wish I read a sci-fi thriller
@@OmniCheeksss yes, a bot comment with an account made in 2013, with a video from a game, totally
It talks a lot about systems. In fact I think the "1% rule" is only a small section of the book. Most of it is about how to actually determine what the end means of your goals will be (rather than someone else telling you what you should do with your life) and how to build and maintain long term habits that help You be better at being a better version of Yourself :)
This video couldn’t be more spot-on 😂. I feel like every time I pick up a self-help book, I end up shouting “JUST GET ON WITH IT” somewhere around page 20. Maybe the magic is in just repeating the same thing so many times that it eventually get drilled into your head lol
It’s hard to sell a 20 page book for 25 dollars. Gotta streeeetch it out a bit. 😅
Well, one sentence won't give you a concrete idea on how you can become rich for example. But 200 pages are way too long and mostly filled with own experiences that won't help you. If you can, read scientific articles and handbooks about psychology. There you will find the core results.

I have that on my bookshelf, I haven't read it yet, what you said makes me even more excited to read it thank you so much. This might sound unique or off but I am afraid to read the book, I still will but anyway I am afraid because what if I think too much on the now and don't plan for the future
@@tennisfreak8842 That’s actually not a unique or “off” take because your exact concern is covered in the book, in multiple sections. I’ll explain in my words because I don’t feel like it really spoils anything: he specifically says that you should spend time outside of the “Now” by planning for the future when required and by thinking back to the past for important memories, lessons learned, etc. But you shouldn’t dwell on past or future events too much because that often leads to worry/anxiety/self-consciousness. Additionally, dwelling on future events too intensely can get you into the thought pattern of “once I achieve X, my life will be great”, when in reality, your life is already great but you just don’t stop to appreciate it.
There’s so much great content in that book and I feel like it’s the kind of thing where you can take it as far as you want. I promise, it’s not the sort of thing where once you read it you’ll completely let go of the past and future, although sometimes I wish that were the case, lol. If you go into it just trying to be a bit more present, be more in touch with your emotions, and/or let go of compulsive thought patterns, it will absolutely help.
@@Wingedmagician good thing you know how to remove yourself from that pain body 😅

I didn't think "the Alchemist" was a self-help book. More a feel-good story about someone achieving things!
Yeah it was more of a parable than a self help book. If you want to feel motivated to follow your dreams this would be the book for that.
Also the thesis of the book is incredibly naive if its goal is to be applied to real life. I read it as an adventure and fantasy book and it was decent
true did not see it as a self help book
Have heard it described as "the most beautiful and poetic way a writer has said absolutely nothing."
@ I'm not sure I agree with that description. There's a whole heros journey, it has a plot. It's like "Go have an adventure. Be in the right headspace for adventure. Good job, you had an adventure."
TL;DR - Stop thinking and start doing things that benefit your future self and others.
Stop doing bad things aand start doing good things. Got it! You should totally write a book on that.

4. Think and Grow Rich: Because our thoughts, combined with how the Universe really works, creates our reality.
5. How to Win Friends and Influence People: Because being a decent human being is important.
6. Rich Dad Poor Dad: To truly understand that your house is not an asset, it’s a liability.

My take on The Alchemist (and bear in mind I read this literal decades ago) was more along the lines of "the journey to the goal will give you the tools and experiences to appreciate the goal, and life".
Consider a hypothetical scenario, that in one instance you get 1 million dollars right now and another instance where you get 1 million dollars after one year of hardwork.
Now what would be the difference in the 'appreciation'?

The problem is, the books are long because you're suppised to read a few pages daily, and use the info presented you slowly. Like a course. Its not meant to be binge-read and have 60% of it forgotten.
I read a few of them and can tell that you described the main idea of these book very good. Yet - they have a lot more to offer inside them. For example - Atomic habits not only show you the idea of 1%, but suggest ways to implement this 1% in your life. Which is practical and really helpful if you don't know where to start. Same comes to the Dale Carnegie - his book is a must-read for people who struggle to socialize and start conversations, not because of the idea, but because of practical approach shown inside of it. I can't stress enough how much easier my life turned out to be after reading it and how much cool people I know now because of it.
