  • Encore POV - Krane Production Cart Review
    Encore Multimedia uses the Krane AMG 750 cart, with the top-shelf option, to transport our video equipment. Encore’s video productions include traditional and digital commercials, along with long-form videos, and we create, shoot, and edit in-house.
    Since our field productions are typically a one or two-person crew, it is important that our equipment cart holds as much gear as possible. This reduces the number of trips required to get the equipment to the shoot location, set-up, and get rolling as efficiently as possible.
    We have used the Krane AMG 750 cart heavily over the last year. So, this is a video review based on real-world use in a variety of production settings.
    Encore Multimedia is headquartered in Longview, Texas. We are a full-service, integrated marketing/PR firm that serves local, regional, and national clients. Our comprehensive marketing services include strategic marketing, public relations, digital, traditional, and web development. Visit EncoreMultimedia.com to learn more about our company.

    Great video! Going to buy your add on clamp and cheese plate options! I've been using super clamps but they are not the best solution. -Adam

    I'm a mobile DJ who's looking at this cart. I like your enthusiasm and explanations. BTW, no one else gave the dimensions, or showed themselves walking through a door. That was convincing! Keep it up sir :)

      Kenny, I think this cart might work very well for you. You could place pretty good sized, powered speaks on the bottom shelf and other equipment on the top and, with hooks, hang speaker stands on both sides. It folds up so well it should all fit in your vehicle without problems. Good luck. Thanks for watching.

    Nice to see an alternative to the more expensive carts. The length concerns me, as I wonder if it's too long for some (most?) elevators. I have a cheap Rock N Roller R12 cart. It extends up to 52", and find it is often a tight squeeze on many elevators. I can easily reduce the length, but that's not an option with the Krane cart, so I wish the total length was shorter and offered a bit more width.

      Yes, I did find it tight in some elevators. I mostly when in at a diagonal and no one else could fit in the elevator but me. Luckily I never ran into a really small elevator. Had that happened I probably would have taken the top shelves off and folded the cart into an "L" shape when put one top shelf back on. I then would probably have had to make more than one trip from my truck to get all the equipment I needed for a shoot. Back when I used a Magliner cart (in another job), I found many elevators I couldn't fit into because that was a huge cart.

    Thanks Dave, great POV review. I have the base offroad 750, so this was very helpful in understanding the additional elements you've incorporated.

    Was just looking for some reviews for this cart and noticed that this was done by Encore Multimedia. I interned there about (gulp) 20 years ago when Dean was running things. Very nice to see Encore is doing well. Thanks for a useful review too!

      Dean retired two years ago and sold the company to a guy in Dallas. He's a nice guy and a good boss. Since I did this video, I retired and for the first time since the company was created in the 1990's, there is no longer a full time videographer at Encore. They now hire freelancers to shoot and edit video. All the great equipment I bought over the last 5 years or so, now just sits gathering dust.

      @@davepov I’ve been curious as to why I never see Encore with a video crew these days at events I’m filming. Honestly it’s been a benefit for my business, but now this makes sense! I appreciate the video! I’ve been going back and forth on so many different carts to replace my current setup and this was by far the best breakdown I’ve found so far.

      @@baldwinvp I retired and moved to Tennessee and they did not replace me at Encore. In fact, they are looking for freelance DP's to shoot for them.

    I have it !! Life safer.. a bit heavy, but necessary. So robust. I load crazy amount of equipment while traveling around the world 😊🙌

      @davepov  Рік тому

      It is a bit heavy but it will last a long time. We use our regularly and we are tough on it but it's held up perfectly. Good luck. Enjoy it.

    I bought this cart because I find Inovativ cart too expensive. But after using for 2 years I sold it and got myself an Inovativ voyager evo and never looked back. There is simply no comparison as Inovativ blow this AMG 750 out of the water for video production. There are so much vibration when travelling on flat tarmac from AMG750, the wheels are simply not good enough. In addition it does not fold as flat at Inovativ cart when travelling in car.

    • @davepov
      @davepov  6 місяців тому

      I agree with you. Both Inovativ and Magliners are kick-ass carts that can serve the needs of anyone in video/film production. We we bought our Krane cart, it was purely a financial decision, it was all the boss was willing to spend. So, good for you and best wishes for a great year of production for you in 2024!

    What is D.I.T?

    • @davepov
      @davepov  2 місяці тому +1

      Digital Imaging Technician. In Hollywood, this is the guy or gal who records everything shot in the production on to hard drives, then does a quick edit of the best takes, following the storyboard, to show the director and clients if it's a commercial shoot. The DIT's I've met typically have a powerful Apple laptop on a cart like this Krane along with a large capacity SSD array and a couple of monitors. They have to be fast at what they do. I've seen directors turn around immediately after a take and say, "Let me see that last take," and he expects to see it right away.

      @@davepov yikes. Sounds like a fun job. I've been using a tool (on my mac) called Lossless Cut. It's perfect for quickly trimming things up - without recompressing. Thanks for the detailed explanation. Sounds like an extreme (e)sport.
