Lyrics
Yankee cutter, trade wind breeze
Wayward soul on the 7 lost seas
We ran in boulder til it was time to go
Worked the Klondike in the ice and snow
As I watched the sun go down
The night is just begun
This is my home now
For I am a new American
Eddie the butcher was a stevedore
We sailed together to the Singapore shore
That’s where we met calico Jim
We drank his money and his bathtub gin
As I watched the sun go down
The night is just begun
This is my home now
For I am a new American
Sixteen days
Dead-end street
Ironclad
Pride of the fleet
As long as I can live to tell
The butcher and I can still raise hell
As I watched the sun go down
The night is just begun
This is my home now
For I am a new American

RANCID! Did it again. The entire new album is SO GOOD! #eastbaypunx
That's because they view sunlight and dont drink coffee when they wake up.
Right? Dr. Huberman is a Rancid fan. I had no idea. I remember seeing them at Berkeley Square with Green Day and Tilt. Been a fan ever since. The new Samiam is a great one, too 🍻
@@StopDropandRoll17 lol
Rarely see someone in neuro and punk like myself lol. Love it!
Well initially I was surprised to see good ole Dr. Huberman on this thread. But then I realized how many geniuses dig good punk rock. I went to a Descendents show a few months back and half of the crowd had tattoos and a Master's degree or higher. Quite the night.
Rancid still kicking ass
PUNK IS NOT DEAD!
Best song of this album. Bass lines are glorious.
Matt Freeman holding down the bassline vibes since Op Ivy. So fucking good.
Matt freeman is just so fucking good. His basslines are and always have been superior!
Best bassist in punk rock, past or present. Just my humble opinion.
Mixing on the previous was a crime to his bass. Hardly audible. Glad it’s back!
Hope not. The first song from the album I’ve heard. Definitely not in their top 20 songs.
I can say, because of the lyrics and the melody, this a perfect pirate song to sing it like pirates drinking and toasting with beer mugs.
Street dog vibes "there is power in a union"
Started in '87. Never will end!!!!
Greatest punk band ever and forever!!!
RANCID IS MY HERO 1980 - 2023
Damn, they haven't missed a damn beat! Nearly 4 damn decades, and they've still got it in spades. When you think of all the ones who come and go, and then see Rancid as raw and authentic as ever, it really puts into perspective how the exemplify the genre. Seriously, nothing but respect to these guys.
Yea bro, Tim is a worker too man. He's always got a project going... a lot of people done realize that he's wrote songs and produced for pop stars like Pink!...then his Tim Timebomb records are great. Did you hear his new band Bad Optix ??? It's him and Jesse Michaels from Op Ivy on vocals....fuckin sick man. Loved these guys since I was 12...I'm 35 now...had my 6 yr old jamming out to "Tomorrow Never Comes" when it came out...he loves when Matt's "tomarowwwwwwwwww" parts kick on.
As a wise man once said "Last one to die'
Fukin rights 🤘🏽
So glad to continue to receive new Rancid injections after almost 30 years!!!
I've been waiting so long for this. It's Rancid 2000 now for the fucking times we live in.
gives me those first and second album vibes
Wow I’m impressed. they went back to there greatness . Old school rancid .
damn right
Just embrace being old.
Tim Armstrong 🐐
Tim’s voice is the Molotov Cocktail I wanna drink
Got my tix for Boston, HOBs, September 18th! Seen Rancid every time in Boston since "Let's Go" wasn't missing the only US tour date, want to see Grade 2 also, have been into them since "I'm tired of it" this should be an incredible show, I'm 68 and still got tix on the floor. See you in the pit!!
I'm 31 and will see them for the first time ever in 4 days. Btw. it will be their first concert in Poland ever. Can't wait for this and I'm counting the days.
Know anywhere cheap to stay or camp around there? I'd like to go but I don't live in the region.
@spaceghostcqc2137 Plenty of places, parks ect. within walking distance to the show. Also go about a half mile away, cheap motels.
@@EddieC3336 Thanks dude
Ain’t nobody like em
Instantly addicted to this song. I love it
I sing "for I'm a new AUSTRALIan" just because Tim won't come to Aus. We've got more in common than you remember Tim. Please come. You'll be welcome.
🎉 come to a South American tour!
Esquece.
I spent the last 20 years living in China. Moved back to the USA at the beginning of this year. It's like being a stranger in a familiar place. Or a native in a foreign country.
Brasil here rancid forever
rancid 🏴☠️🏆🌷
THANK YOU
BURNS LIKE RUBBER!
Best song off the new record and the new record is all good!
What a coincidence, I'm Singaporean and there's Singapore in the lyrics!
29 years after I heard my first Rancid song, I sit here exitedly listening to a brand new Rancid song. And Rancid sounds as good as the first time I heard them. Life is good. Keep making excellent music guys.
They still sound fn great.
Same here
Personally I'm pleasantly surprised with how good this album is. Let's Go was one of the first cd's I ever bought, and from there to Indestructible it was a hall of fame run they had. But everything after Indestructible just all sounded the same to me. It was like they were just pumping out the "typical" Rancid song. I was so sure I'd probably never hear great new music from them again, but I've never been more happy to be wrong.
Almost thirty years i've been listening this fuc..king amazing band punk rock street 🤘🏿🤟🏿👊🏾👊🏾🤟🏿🤘🏿
Got my tix for September 18th at HOBs in Boston, seen every Rancid show in Boston since "Let's Go" and I was not going to miss the only US tour date with Grade 2, had my eye on these kids since "I'm tired of it", this show will be epic, im
67, got tix on the floor,
See you in the pit!!
どんだけカッコいいんだよ!!
めちゃくちゃパンクだぜぇ!!
best album since indestructible!!!
His voice🥲🥰
the rancid comradery, respect, honor & holigan brotherhood will live forever!!
THANK YOU for the best sounds & best times of my 46yrs!!!
New Rancid?! I didn't know! And, it's GOOD!
Punk is far from dead and is still kicking arse! Long live Rancid!!!
Sounding like the old days....love the energy!!
Keep rocking!! 🤟🤟🤟
I was just thinking the same. It's great to hear they still got it. Makes me wanna mosh and jump around like a maniac 🤘
Its the most Pogues song that Rancid ever wrote. Not directly but some lyrics and some chords are so McGowanesque, its a perfect marriage and a really solid tune.
Yeah, it's the drum (and after) intro that starts that thought
I have said the same on " the smoke clears" track. His diction reminds me of Shane.
I love Rancid thank you for your time and I didn't think it was really you guys I saw the Ruby Soho match lol well from the picture of Lars and his gorgeous lady's living room.
Love you❤️RANCID
Love! Since 90

Masterpiece of P❤R
I would love to see you guys live upstate ny I’ve been a huge fan since the late 90s never got to see you guys live
Favorite song of the album 🖤
RANCID !! My forever band ..Love you guys ❤
People who accuse Rancid of being a pop-punk band, I say bunk lol! To each their own, but to me, they’re storytelling song writers, like Bob Dylan.
I've said it for many years, Tim Armstrong is our modern day Dylan, absolutely an epic poet, songwriter with massive talent heart and soul. He has made his mark in the history of great music.
punk rock pioneers
One of the best songs on the LP that's full of great songs.
New Rancid, life rocks!
Danm there still so good
Brazil needs Rancid, let's go guyss
quietly amazing. God bless.
最強にかっこいい😎ずっとファン❤
Troublemaker was an amazing album. This album sounds like it freaking rocks too. Great job Rancid.

Rancid has been the best and my go too since my cousin showed me when I was 10 now I'm 32 and love them just as much even there side bands they had or have good work boys keep it up and stay healthy n strong thank you
The name of this album should have been "Punk's not dead".

Love rancid since '92
Love this
Temas melos ❤
Me being a bass player, all I hear is Matt Freeman showing off his chops :)
Nothing can't stop 'em. Rancid never disappoints.
when I hear the rancid song entitled "new American", it's like the Thema song saund the sheep....😁😁😁
Huberman on Hanes' brought me here!!
I love it
NOT DEAD!
IF YOU HAVE A GUITAR..IF YOU HAVE A DRUM..THE SONG STILL ALIVE.......
🤩🤩🤩🤩🔥
Now64 and seeing them live love these guys.
I went to Gilman when Tim Yohanon was still alive. I saw incredible shoes and watched that scene grow and morph and new blood add their own distinctive marks on this East Bay thing that was happening.
I'm so glad to see that Rancid still carries on with that same energy and spirit that we had at that time. This track is anthemic and I love that I know it's a Rancid track, but you guys never just remake the same albums over and over again. LMFAO --- I've found myself able to see Op Ivy back in the day and I've seen Old Firm Casuals a couple times ( BTW--- Lars thanks for being a really approachable and truly nice guy) ,but somehow I always have plans fall through when I'm gearing up to see Rancid I need to make sure I do.before I take a dirt nap ,cuz you guys have been one of those seminal bands that have helped keep Punk alive and have influenced generations of bidding musicians. Anyway, thank you all for many years of great music and this track is gold.....from the music to the lyrics
This album is fire man. An absolute banger
Bigup the mans dem like Rancid! Massive respect to Tim, Lars, Matt & crew!!
The Bash 2016 in Sac was a great pit!!!
🤘😎🤘😎
top demais irmãos - Luiz São Paulo - Brasil
My right arm is full of tattoos from rock bands I have enjoyed since my teens. There are 17.
I'm glad that Rancid is the biggest. Just on my shoulder.
God Damn, i love this album....Branden's drumming is loud as hell; perfect, love it all, feel it all...for this 46 year old, this is what the Dr. ordered...needed some new music in a bad way....Devil in Disguise is #1 for me, this is a VERY close second. Hope to see you guys in Orlando, SOON
🤩🤩🤩🤩
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! I love you Rancid!
The rawness of the video fits their personalities perfectly, so great!
A big thanks for the life-altering journey I was fortunate enough to get on board with you 29 years ago!
Such a great record! I can't believe I've been listening to these guys for almost 30 years now! I was ten when I first heard Rancid, and they still rock!
I feel like this could also be a Dropkick Murphys song. 😃
It has a sea shanty vibe for sure. Love it!
Rancid never faltered.
This was definitely my favourite song on the album. So glad it got the video treatment!
The drumming is fantastic .can't wait to have this new album .
Back to their best aggressive short and sweet tunes
