RE: PAUSING, EXPRESSIONS & AIR-INSTRUMENTS:
Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. We are expressive by nature and are truly very quirky in every sense of the word. This is who we are and this is what we’ve got to offer. We understand it may not be for everyone, but here's to hoping you all enjoy and we absolutely love positive comments and feedback.
RE: LIVE VERSIONS vs STUDIO:
Check out why we haven't uploaded any live versions... yet. They will be coming, we promise!

That guitar player is my husband :) and I am INSANELY proud of him!
That is so cool! Thank you for sharing and tell him he is AMAZING at what he does! 🎸
All of us who are fans are proud of him too! I still remember when Neal did the video tryouts for the band like 10 years ago, your husband's playing hit me right away and still does! Looking forward to the Seattle show! God bless you guys!
Yep Eric rocks! So underrated, and keeps improving every day!
JaciLynn, forgive me for not knowing that and for not remembering your husband's name!! I was just in hurry when I posted earlier and at age 61 I don't remember things like I used to. You have every right to be proud of him!!!
Please know I was not trying to be dismissive of him in any way!!
Steve Morse actually plays with Neal Morse in a band called Flying Colors!
Flying colors is extremely good, like seriously. One of my favorite bands
And Transatlantic ! 😉
You guys would love Neal Morse Bands album called The Similitude of a Dream
One of the best albums of all time
Well said, it's trully one of the best albums of all times!
If combined with The Great Aventure.... It's like PERFECT
Yep. One of the best albums it is.
TSOAD's in the talks with the all time greatest category IMO.
Right there with Quadraphenia & The Wall.
Mike Portnoy and Neal Morse have done 24 albums together!!! 24!!!
And I think he has done all of his very best drumming with him too.
Since this comment, they released 4 more albums
@@musumechem Lol....5 now...
Much better than Dream Theatre. All these instruments and vocals are magnificent. When I listen to this music I need to cry. The bunch of harmonies are incredible and I can't get enough of it. Neal Morse is the GOAT in this world, in the next world and in any world!
YES
More Neal Morse, or Neal Morse Band !
Funny that you looked up if the guitar Player is John Petrucci, when actually the Drummer Mike Portnoy is Ex-DreamTheater :-). By the Way you actually reacted to Neal Morse before, because he was in Spock's Beard and he sang on At the end of the Day, which you reacted to. Neal is a great Songwriter and is also in the Prog-Supergroup Transatlantic, also with Mike Portnoy on Drums, Pete Trewavas (from Marillion) on Bass and my favorite Muscician Roine Stolt (from The Flower Kings) on Guitar. I suggest checking out the Song Duel with the Devil, from Transatlantic, or Stardust we are, from the Flower Kings. If you liked this one, you're probably gonna like these too!
And Portnoy likes to call Eric "Little Petrucci".
Great choice
I was going to write exactly about what you already have written!
Eric plays a Musicman John Petrucci signature!!
Is this Max Portnoy “brotherofmelody” ?
My favourite Band!!
Neal Morse!!! My favorite artist of all time!!! Spock’s Beard, Transatlantic, Flying Colors, etc. Pure genius!!!
And don't forget Yellow Matter Custard. Neal, Portnoy, Gilbert and one other. Beatles covers.
Neil's best solo album IMO (and in many others opinion too) was "Question Mark", every single song on that album is a gem.
As a non-Christian, the fact that I love Neal's first four born-again solo albums is a testament to just how great a songwriter he is. _Sola Scriptura_ and _?_ are regular listens for me.
Sola Scriptora is incredible.
Neal on all instruments except drums.
@@giehayes8983 Yes, I think it's the same for "?", he is a very fine guitar player.
Ok, I am hearing right. It does sound like Yes to me. I was a teen in 70s. I loved Yes. Tge heavy keyboard sound n like this. Who is the singer?? I do not remember hearing of this band band in 70s, but there was so much amazing talent to choose from...I am learning of new to me now from that era.. wow! This is amazing . I must check out more. Thank you NicknLex!!
@@mstewart109 Neal Morse Band formed in 2014.
Neal has been a major actor of the prog rock scene since nearly 30 years as he leaded Spock's Beard and was involved in a huge number of projects since he left the band. Christian influenced music provided with talent of another level. Dig in it !
No matter how many times I hear the buildup and transition into the last hook, it will always make me tear up. It’s such a beautiful and powerful crescendo to the song.
Alright!!!! So happy you are exploring this artist. Neal is one of the most prolific artists in the prog genre for the last three decades. Lookup his discography on progarchives. He also performs faith based music. FYI Steve and Neal Morse are in a band together called Flying Colors. The guitarist in this song is Eric Gillette. He is a monster. Dream Theater sound similarity is most likely because you hear Mike Portnoy on drums. There is so much to explore with this artist from Spock's Beard through Transatlantic and other bands in between. NMB is simply stunning live. I am looking forward to attending Morsefest in Tennessee later this year to see NMB and also seeing Transatlantic at Morsefest next year and on Cruise To The Edge. Speaking of Steve Morse you should react to the Dregs.
Steve Morse was in Deep Purple and Kansas....
Nice! Had not heard any of his solo stuff....
Don't believe that "Steve" was on this album. Are you referring to "Neal?"
Steve Morse was also in the Dixie Dregs
@@stevejones18 And the Steve Morse Band, some of his greatest work.
@@milton1448 my mistake... you're correct
@@alberthilt Hey Albert, no biggie, just confused me.
Be well-
The Neal Morse musical rabbit hole is absolutely incredible and well worth going down. From all of the bands he is involved with to the individual bands and side projects of the musicians he plays with. Neal Morse Band, Neal Morse Solo, Transatlantic, Flying Colors, Spock’s Beard, Flower Kings, Marillion, Dixie Dreggs, Steve Morse Band just to name a few...I went down that Rabbit Hole nearly 20 years ago. What a journey!!
Totally unexpected gem. This is one of many examples of why this channel is so great. The requesters almost always seem to come through with interesting stuff. Keep on keepin on! Shocked, and very surprised this is from 2015.
Amen!
I LOVE when folks are discovering many bands that we have loved for many years :D.
Steve Morse the guitar player you refer to at the beginning was part of the G3 tour with Joe Satriani and John Petrucci. He also is ion a band with Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, Dave Larue and Casey McPherson called Flying Colors. Check out a song called Open Up Your Eyes.
My favorite band!
I was a DT fan for years before I heard of Neal w Spocks Beard.
Gonna get my fill next weekend at MorseFest 2021.
If you ever get a chance to attend Morse fest it's the musical experience of a lifetime..
This is so cool because The Call is the song that kept drawing me in, even though I wasn't quite ready to dive into the deep end with Neal Morse yet, it was the seed that eventually produced an entire Garden of Eden for me. I finally quit resisting and started truly exploring Neal's music and then discovered all his fantastic Worship music after I became "Born Again" because I had some very real Spiritual experiences eventually including a moment when the Spirit of Jesus came to me, no joke, very profound once in a Lifetime thing but no mistaking it. Next, the new NMB album-2021's Innocence & Danger was released on the weekend of my Birthday and that record is EXPLOSIVE, BLEW MY MIND. So yeah my Life has been changed by this music, seriously.
Problem is, now, nothing compares, and has left me a bit jaded about all my old past loves 🤣
I'm freakin hopelessly addicted to Neal Morse music 🙈
Ken tell me about your experience with Jesus, please.
Please don't. It's enough that Neil tortures us with his lyrics since his conversion.@@dougboz00
Got to see them a month ago in Seattle, and got a pair of Mike Portnoy's drumsticks and a autographed drum head of his.
One of the best bands have ever seen in my life.
Welcome in the great musical world of Neal Morse. In my opioion the best Neo Prog Composer today. Spock's Beard, Transatlantic, Flying Colors and The Neal Morse Band and his Solo works are insane. What i love is the great harmonising in his music and all members are great musicans. 27th August 2021 the new Album Innocence & Danger of the Neal Morse Band is coming.
Hear the song Waterfall (great harmony singing near acapella) and So far gone (great song). Live they are insane ( see videos from Morsefest).
Another home run for NicknLex when it comes to introducing me to new bands. At first I thought this band reminds me of ELP and then it merged into an Gentle Giant/Asia mix. By the end of the song I had no classification for this band but I do know that they kick butt.
This song was so good it is hard to believe that it wasn't a Michele Michele request.
You did a reaction to spocks beards "at the end of the day" ... that was neal morse!
Neal Morse was the former singer and keyboardist for Spocks Beard .. is also in the supergroup Transatlantic with Mike Portnoy, Roine Stolt of the Flower Kings, and Pete Trewas of Marillion. Mike also plays drums for most of his releases.
Thank you for reacting to this one. After reading all the comments I don't think I have anything more to add. If you feel like tackling more concept albums do The Neal Morse Band's "The Similitude of a Dream." It's 100+ minutes, but full of very diverse musical styles, often paying homage to 70's acts the band are fans of. It's based on a novel written in the late 1600's called The Pilgrim's Progress. Along with the lyrics, multiple musical themes interweave through the songs and tie the album together as the main character is led on a journey from the City of Destruction to the City of Light via dreams. Party on, Nick N Lex!!!
Albums Neal Morse Band:
2015 The Grand Experiment (here is The Call on)
2016 The Similitude of a Dream
2019 The Great Adventure
2021 Innocence & Danger (Release 27th August)
Please react to Transatlantic. A prog supergroup consisting of Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy (Dreamtheater), Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings) and Pete Trewavas (Marillion).
Steve Morse plays in another band with Neal Morse, known as Flying Colors. The drummer of Flying Colors is Mike Portnoy who was in Dream Theater (original drummer.) Portnoy is also in another band formed by Neal Morse, known as Transatlantic.
Now you HAVE to hear Transatlantic!! Transatlantic are a modern prog supergroup featuring Neal Morse (Neal Morse Band, Spocks Beard) on guitars, keyboards and vocals, Pete Trewavas bass, vocals (Marillion), Mike Portnoy drums, vocals (Neal Morse Band, Dream Theater) and Roine Stolt guitars, vocals (The Flower Kings). Lots of epics, the band is about epics. Their album 'The Whirlwind' is a whole 82 minute epic which can be split into parts.
Album is The Grand Experiment, you would also like Flying Colors another band to feature Neal and Mike Portnoy.
11:28 to 12:45 was so trippy, almost hypnotic. portnoys drumming is a able to change the way a pattern feels so easily
Mike Portnoy, formerly of Dream Theatre, on the drums! This is just one of the many bands he's in currently.
Since you've left this comment, Portnoy has joined another 3 bands. lol
@@milton1448 That's it?? You know, I think he released 9 albums last year between all his projects.
@@RushTrader No doubt- one busy man
Just for the record the Neal Morse band is Mike portnoy's actual main band now. Everything else is a project.
Prog on guys
Nick right away is like where have these guys been? The greatest band no one has heard of.
Welcome to a whole new world. NMB, Transatlantic, Flying colors, Spocks Beard, Flower Kings, and on and on.
I love when folks first hear of Neal Morse...it truly is amazing music. He has a huge amount of music that he has made and contributed towards.
Happy day ☀️ Thx so much for this one. No one can write progressive rock/metal like Neal Morse. This is an amazing band. I remember you reacting to At The End Of The Day by Spock’s Beard… Neal Morse’s first band and this was just as great 😊 Now onward to All Of The Above by Transatlantic…another band with Neal Morse and Mike Portnoy which is a supergroup with Roine Stolt from the Flower Kings and Pete Trewavas from Marillion. All Of The Above is one of Neal Morse’s masterpieces. 🎸 🥁
Great great song!
You should also do Flying Colors band (Neil Morse, Steve Morse, Mike Portnoy, another guy from the Dixie Dregs, and someone else too). Do the song (with video) of "A Place In Your World". Phenomenal! Also, more Spock's Beard! (Neal Morse, Nick D'Virgilio - now in Big Big Train)
Flying Colors - Neal Morse (keys), Steve Morse (guitar, no relation), Mike Portnoy (drums), Dave LaRue (bass), and Casey McPherson (vocals, guitar). They were phenomenal at Morsefest 2019. Another group with Neal is Transatlantic (Neal, Roine Stolt (guitar), Mike P. (drums), and Pete Trewavas (bass).
@@stevepreskitt283 Thank you for the additional detail and Info!!
Check out Transatlantic! Has Neal Morse with Mike Portnoy on drums. Great super group. Please check them out.
This band is Epic live!! I saw them a few years back and it just blew me away. To hear all those harmonies live is just an experience.
Sounds like Mike Portnoy brought some of his DT influences with him to this band. Neal Morse was formerly in Spocks Beard which is another prog band that I think you guys would enjoy. I would recommend "the kindness of strangers" as a good intro to Spocks Beard.
They've already done "At the End of the Day."
The Neal Morse Band is also incredible live (duplicating, and even exceeding all you hear on the albums). Hope you get a chance to experience them someday. Embarking on tour again this fall to 15+ nations.
Greatness all around both the music and reaction..appreciate you guys..also do a reacton to the band Glass Hammer, one of the most underrated bands ever....all my best,
Kent.
from the 90's. Neal was the founder of SPOCK's BEARD, he is a member of Transatlantic, and his drummer in that band is Mike Portnoy a founding member of Dream Theater, the guitarist is Roine Stolt , founder of The Flower Kings, and Pete Trewavas, bassist and founding member of Marillion
The Best Band I Have Ever Heard, and I'm Old.
The instrumentation was wonderful. Nice request, Dennis. Fun reaction, N&L. Thanks. ✨🤪
Thank you dennis
I really love all the Neal Morse/Mike Portnoy collaborations. I'm trying to spread the word about them because they aren't widely known about.
Yay Neal Morse Band!!! Most of Neal Morse's stuff is not on spotify, but his discography is VAST. He has several albums with his original band Spock's Beard (you reacted to their song At the End of the Day!), then his solo material listed as Neal Morse, his more recent stuff with the Neal Morse Band, and his side projects Transatlantic and Flying Colors. My favorite all time musician and the epitome of what modern prog rock should be. Check out his song Author of Confusion because it absolutely SLAPS
TNB is a force! You just dipped your toe in the pool! You have hours and hours of material to wade through. Let the journey begin! Great Channel! I will be back!
Now its time to react to Flying Colors - Infinite Fire or The Storm
Love, love, LOVE The Neal Morse Band. They are every bit as good as Dream Theater and they have at least two absolutely stellar albums. Those being The Grand Experiment, where this song comes from, and The Similitude of a Dream, which is a double album. They do have a third album that came out in 2018 called The Great Adventure. While it’s good, the previous two are superior in every way, IMO. They just have better and catchier songs. Neal Morse also has many solo albums that he recorded after he left Spock’s Beard. You have to check out Testimony and Sola Scriptura. If you don’t know, Neal is a Christian who has devoted his music to being more spiritually based than what he had been previously. Mike Portnoy has been Neal’s primary and almost exclusive corroborator since the very early 2000s on various projects. Neal’s solo albums, Transatlantic, The Neal Morse Band (different from his solo band), and Flying Colors are their best known projects and bands but they have a few others. They’re all worth checking out. Nick’s spot on in his assessment of their influences. I’ve always heard Kansas, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd and even Electric Light Orchestra in many of their songs. Well done! Anyway…Here’s a list of songs with Neal Morse and Mike Portnoy that I highly recommend.
Neal Morse:
California Nights
Colder In The Sun
The Door
Neal Morse Band:
Waterfall
The Ways of a Fool
So Far Gone
Breath of Angels
Freedom Song
Flying Colors:
The Fury of my Love
A Place in Your World
Honestly, I’m not nuts about The Grand Experiment. The Call is the only song I ever return to from it. I think The Grand Adventure is far better.
Thanks guys, Love NMB. They have many great albums. BTW Neal Morse is in another band with Steve Morse and Mike Portnoy- Called Flying Colors
Neal Morse - The Creation (Album: One from 2004)!! And Author Of Confusion (from the same Album)! Thanks :-)
Great songs. My favorite song off of One is The Separated Man because the middle instrumental part is so good.
Great songs. My favorite song off of One is The Separated Man because the middle instrumental part is so good.
I love these guys and go way back with them. Neal Morse...musical genius, Mike Portnoy...one of the best drummers of our time. Neal recruited high quality musicians and individuals to form his latest band. I can't say enough about these guys! If you would like an excellent song to react to, find "The Doorway" by Spock's Beard. This is Neal's earlier band. There are many other great songs by these musicians!
So, I changed my mind again, I think you need to listen to more Emerson Lake & Palmer. You love Yes, and I think those two band and Genesis influenced a large number of later bands, like Rush, Kansas, Stys, And Boston. Try "Take A Pebble" Or "The Barbarian", then try "Tarkus" and "Karn Evil 9 !st and 2nd Impressions".
Kevin Marsh - With those 3 bands you nailed it, they were true pioneers along with 1 or 2 others like PF and notably the very underrated Renaissance.
Speaking of Steve Morse, if you want to watch an amazing live performance of his guitar playing skills, I recommend you watch The Steve Morse bands performance of the song called 'Tumeni Notes'
First time listen. Just finished listening to Neal on new album D'Virgilio, Morse, & Jennings Troika
You have some Steve Morse coming up. He was the leader of The Dixie Dregs who's 1977 song "Odyssey" is on my list. This guitarist was pretty good too.
Steve Morse played guitar for Kansas on a couple of 80s albums after Kerry Livgren left. 😭
As others have stated Neal was the main singer\writer in Spocks Beard (who you already reacted to i think) for their first 6 albums. Then he went solo and also has this great band with Mike Portnoy and co. Spocks along with Dream Theater, Flower Kings, and many others were part of the "second wave" progressive rock resurgence of the 90s and on. In fact he, Mike Portnoy, Roine Stolt from the Flower Kings and Pete Trewavas from Marillion have another supergroup called Transatlantic. Neals stamp of songwriting runs through all of those bands. Great reaction!
You chose a good single track to start with, but Neal Morse band has done a couple of double concept albums that will blow your head apart. It's great that you really like this one, but just wait...
Agreed I saw them live twice amazing
Neal comes from a band called “Spock’s Beard” very progressive challenging music.. the Neal Morse band is very much like another band he plays in called Transatlantic, another very awesome group of super prog rockers!!
Next reaction by The Neal Morse Band must be "The Way Of A Fool". Masterpiece.
Please react to Liquid Tension Experiment - When The Water Breaks (Studio), too!
And one last thing: you have GOT to listen to King's X, but ESPECIALLY the solo work of their lead guitar player - Ty Tabor. I can recommendations if you like. ALSO: Ty Tabor is in a side band called the Jelly Jam with the bass player from Dream Theater and the former drummer of the Dixie Dregs (Rod Morgenstern), who was also in Winger, The Steve Morse Band, Rudess/Morgenstern, and a few others). Ty Tabor's solo stuff is just ridiculous. If you want to know more, reply and I'll send you some suggestions. (Ty is also one of the nicest guys in the world as well. I keep in touch with him via email from time to time as well). But he is one of THE most underrated guitar players out there. Killer guitar tone!!! He is well known for his guitar tone.!!
I will 2nd and 3rd that motion. King’s X are amazing.
I hope to be "helping" with that in a few weeks ;). I just don't want to get my hopes-up though . . .. I do hope they like them, but EACH song/style can sound different from another. One of may all time fave bands :D.
Thank you Dennis! This band is freaking amazing! The bands live video's are fantastic and the musicians are all top notch not only on their primary instrument but all play multiple ones. Mike Portenoy from Dream Theater on Drums and backing vocals, can't be beat. This song is among my favorites, the way it circles back to the main theme after some awesome solos is just perfect. I would happily contribute ($$) to the video viewing of the long but amazing live version of "Alive Again"
ua-cam.com/video/YIb8BBKJt2w/v-deo.html
Great reaction! Great song, please react to "the light" from Spocks Beard, amazing song. Saludos desde Perú!
Neal Morse Works & The Neal Morse Band, the best band prog rock 2005-2023
Neal only has a small selection of his music on Spotify. He actually made his own music streaming service called Waterfall, since he has such a massive discography between his various bands. He also features a few other artists on there too.
I second what someone else said: you should eventually do an album reaction to Neal Morse Band’s “The Similitude of a Dream” from 2016! An epically EPIC double-disc concept album, to say the least! Reacting to the whole album will have a greater impact, IMHO, but some songs that are highlights are “Long Day/Overture” (the opening two tracks) and “Ways of the Fool.”
BTW, just want to say I really enjoy your channel! Keep the videos coming!
Neal Morse band is the greatest band in the world...there are many albums...
Portnoy’s drumming is tight! Beautiful fills. Dig the harmonization with the lyrics. Reminds me a little of Yes especially when the keyboards kick in. I give it a big 👍
Thank you Dennis. Steve Morse and Neal Morse (not related) have teamed up (with Mike Portnoy and Dave LaRue) to form Flying Colors. They are progressive rock lite but have a mixture of styles. Check out Cosmic Symphony and Open Up Your Eyes from their Second Nature album.
I highly recommend a full album reaction to Kansas - either Song for America (2nd album) or the fabulous Leftoverture (4th album).
Hopefully this comment won't make this worse...
There is a Neal Morse Band, and then there's Neal Morse as a solo artist...same guy. When he releases a solo album, he basically does the writing himself, at least initially. When all of the artists are involved in the writing together, then he releases the album as the Neal Morse Band. Both incarnations are freaking amazing!!
God bless!!
Neal Morse is a progressive rock legend. You'll also want to check out Spocks Beard. That was his 1st foray into the genre.
The guitarist, Eric Gillette i call the Swiss Army Knife. He plays drums and keys equally well. He does it all. You may want to check out some of his releases as well.
This was really, really good. Thank you for doing this reaction.👍
1st time hearing this. Nice!
To add to some others comments Neal has been recording prog music since the early nineties with a Band called Spock's Beard (1992). With Neal the band recorded 6 studio albums. He left around 2003 to become a solo artist. He has several prog records, several singer songwriter type albums and a few praise album (he is a christian). Also almost none of this music is on spotify or other streaming services by his choice. There is a difference with albums released under his name which he writes all the music and those under the Neal Morse Band which is an actual collaborative band. (The song you played today is from the latter). The Neal Morse Band started in 2015 and have had 3 studio releases with a fourth due out later this year. Mike Portnoy, ex Dream Theater drummer, has played on all of the prog solo albums of Neal as well as being the drummer of the Neal Morse Band. Same goes for Randy George on bass. Eric Gillette and Bill Hubauer while members of the NMB have only guested on the solo Neal Morse prog albums. Neal and Mike are also members of the band Transatlantic (1998) with Roine Stoldt from The Flower Kings on guitar and Pete Trewavas on Bass from Marillion. TA has 5 studio albums . They are also members of a band called Flying Colors (2010) along with guitarist Steve Morse, bassist Dave LaRue and lead singer Casey McPherson. This is not as proggy as the others as they are more song orientated but still some really great music. They have 3 studio albums out.
Steve Morse is also IN A BAND WITH NEAL MORSE AND MIKE PORTNOY....
Finaly.......!! Transatlantic and Flying Colors for the next!🤟
Please react to The Neal Morse band "So Far Gone"
Neal Morse was the singer and main singwriter of Spock's Beard from 1995 to 2002. Mike Portnoy was a huge fan of Spock's Beard from the get go and became a close friend of Morse. Portnoy played drums on all Morse solo albums since 2002. They are also bandmates in Transatlantic. I'm pretty confident that DT and Spock's Beard were an influence on each other. Also I have to point out that DT was quite obviously influenced by the big shots from the seventies and also by Saga.
But DTs stylistic blend of metal and prog was unmatched for a very long time. Then came Haken🙂
You should definately check out Transatlantic and The Flower Kings.
Who’s Steve Morse? WHO’S STEVE MORSE? Alex, your husband is failing in his husbandly music duties! Try out the four layered guitars of Great Mountain Spirits, or the bangin’ Good to Go, or the spiritually beautiful southern tones of Country Colors. And that’s just The Steve Morse Band. Try out the Dregs, his other band. Trust me. This is important for your marriage.🥰🧡💜❤️💛
Neal Morse became known as the brain child of Spock's Beard and as a member of Transatlantic. He is prolific. The Neal Morse Band is amazing. If you want to do a monster album reaction, do The Similitude Of A Dream.
As for other other Neal Morse solo, do Author Of Confusion.
For Spock's Beard, do The Light.
More Spock's Beard suggestions - "The Doorway", "At the End of the Day", and "Harm's Way"
I love The Similitude of a Dream. And even though it's not, I like to think the second verse of Sloth is about me. LOL
Okay, disregard "At the End of the Day" - just now saw you guys reacted to that back in April. :-D
Eric Gillette definitely has a lot of John Petrucci influence and definitely Steve Vai and Randy George's bass also reminds me of the late, great Chris Squire from Yes. Amazing band!
Steve Morse and Neal Morse are also in a band together called Flying Colors. You should check them out too! Mask Machine is really cool.
Correction... I looked at Steve... not Neal.
Neal was in Spock's Beard...
Listen Infinite Fire or Open Up Your Eyes by FLYING COLORS.
Hey, Mike Portnoy is in this group. From DT. The ex-drummer. Good job guys.
Neal Morse came from the band Spock's Beard that he had with his brother Alan (guitar player and composer). Then He joined Transatlantic, another great band, and then he formed his own band. Mike Portnoy (drumer from Dream Theater) it's now in the Neal Morse's band! Very cool, ah?. Thanks for sharing guys!!!
You should check out Transatlantic's cover of Santana's Soul Sacrifice with Mike Portnoy on drums. PHENOMENAL!!!
Love the comment that the song has influences of Dream Theater. Haha! Of course there's some Dream Theater influence especially when the drummer was from Dream Theater and a founding member.
Also, Steven Wilson side bands (his own solo stuff of course, but also Blackfield, Storm Corrosion, No Man, Bass Communion). Blackfield, at some point listen to the title track off their first album - Blackfield - Blackfield, also the songs "Once" and "Open Mind").
Neal Morse story and his music very Christian based...listen to the lyrics..they marry the music....they are amazing for sure so glad you guys had a chance listen and experience NMB..much more to hear..
Spocks beard transatlantic bands Neal was in Dream theater learned from them much
The Great Nothing by Spock’s Beard is the bomb 👏🏻
Guys how are you! Neal Morse! I'm a fan of him !!! A great musician indeed! I tell you that I see his "First time", by La Maquina de making Pájaros, Spinetta and I really love his videos and his analysis, well I am Argentine and that is why I love the skinny Spinetta and Charly Garcia who was in La Maquina, a great musician in Argentina, one of the best, we would say many musicians here, along with Spinetta. Well going back to Neal Morse as I am a fan I like almost everything, haha. The Call is a very good song but it is already something of the last of him, perhaps, so that they take into account the best of Neal Morse was the 'Sola Scriptura' of the year 2007, for many musicians and fans it was the best he delivered Neal Morse, although that if the first song of the album "The Door" lasts around 29 minutes, it is very long but incredible. But there are also other bands, the so-called "super groups", where the greatest references are found (or the less for many too) of Progressive Rock or Neo Progressive Rock, where they have formed for example Transatlantic that have very interesting things, such as "Duel The Devil", "All of Above", "Stranger in your Soul" or the album "The Whirlwind "but it's a concept album with all the songs running. They're there (Transatlantic) Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, Pete Trewawas from Marillion and Roine Stolt from The Flower Kings in my opinion and that of several also the best of neo rock progressive, maybe they can take it into account.
And something newer a broadcast cut is for example "So Far Gone" by Neal Morse that has something interesting.
By the way they do a good analysis without knowing him since he started doing Progressive Rock for Yes, particularly for listening to "Heart of the Sunrise" from "Fragile", he explains that it changed his life and he is also a big fan of Kansas, hahaha so yes it's going to have tints of them. It would be great if they upload a reaction to some of his songs! And finally I really like his "first time" and I find them very good, I enjoy them! Greetings from Argentina !!! Kisses! ;)
Please do Neal Morse alive again from the album the great experiment
Neal's band are all amazing musicians, try the great adventure or the great despair for starters or alive again a 30minute + epic.
Hi guys, thanks again for your channel and the variety of content, from a huge Yes, DT, and Neal Morse fan. I guess you've realised the Neal -Mike Portnoy connection by now, they've done a lot of great prog together.
In the early 70's, while in Yes, Rick Wakeman began a huge solo career. His first 3 albums are legendary, but "The myths and legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the round table" is one of my all time favourites, recorded with a full orchestra and choir. OTT Prog!
Anything off the album is good, but could I suggest "Sir Lancelot and the Black Knight" for your consideration.
Amazing album.
Blessings!
Hey Guys,
This song is from their debut release called The Great Experiment and they have 4 albums to date and their latest is Innocence & Danger with 3 tracks that you must react to the first 2 songs have the same title although they are different but the message or the theme is still the same and the titles are #nicknlexrequest I'm Not Afraid Parts 1 & 2 and the last track of the album may hurt your back but it will be so worth it and it's an epic called Beyond The Years!! It's over 30 minutes but the payoff is so worth your effort to try to react to this amazing track!! Please forgive me for not posting this sooner!! Can't wait to hear from you soon!!
Thanks & Keep Rockin'!!,
Walter - 🤘❤🙏🤘
