    I’m a retired police officer and firefighter. From the firefighter side I can tell you I went to many house fires that were caused by those multi plugs and power strips. You are correct about the overloading warning. The overload causes the wiring to become super heated and thus a fire. And honestly RV plugs are scary anyway in how they’re made. Bottom line is most people plug those in and then plug all kinds of stuff never doing the math. And was that a Spyderco knife?

      Thanks for sharing Captain. The wiring in RV's can be a bit of a concern. Best to keep a sharp eye out for any plug that get's too warm or a breaker constantly trips. Something's up. Yes, it is a Spyderco Delica. I have a couple. These are my working knives. They take quite a bit of abuse. Favorite is my Maxix 2 for general EDC.

    Jerry good video it’s good that you prefaced the issue with the multi outlet device as a electrician I have replaced probably a dozen of those devices after they have got hot and melted the outlet behind it after it was overloaded

      Agree. Don’t want to recreate the scene lighting the leg lamp from the Christmas Story movie.

      Simple. Verify the wiring before installation and wire to the labeled lugs.

    It amazes me that the money you pay for an RV - mines is a 25ft - Jayco Redhawk 22C - SE - the cheap materials they use such as these electrical outlets - Saw one video when researching that an outlet had burnt that powers the microwave conventical oven- lucky the person caught it in time. I'm in the processing of replacing all my outlets with some of the USB type..safe than sorry. thanks.

      It is amazing Victor. It’s obvious the manufacturers have reduced quality control. I love the life style, but to much effort on profit and less on quality.

    Good video Jerry. Do you have a video on how to add a DC distribution panel to a travel trailer? I recently purchased a TPMS and it has a repeater. I don’t have anywhere to plug or wire it into. I also have a wireless camera at the back of the trailer but again, nowhere to connect the repeater. A very simple, easy-to-follow video on installing a DC distribution panel for these repeaters and other accessories would really be a great help! Thanks for your consideration.

      Hi Milo. Unfortunately I don’t have a video on a panel. But, the backup camera is simple. Borrow the wiring from a marker light. We use Haloview for cameras. The have a direct replacement marker light with built in camera. Install was a couple minutes. The video shows the install on side, but could have been done easily on the back as well. See this video ua-cam.com/video/Tu5oPBRHquU/v-deo.html

    Great video Jerry. How do you verify that the black wire is actually the hot wire and the white is the neutral wire? This become even more important if the wire color is blue or something else. Thanks.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  3 роки тому

      Thanks. I used a digital volt meter. Carefully touch one probe to the ground wire and the other probe each wire to be tested. The hot wire will show voltage. Then kill the circuit to complete wiring.
