Hey man I finally got everything installed and had my first real ride session and it was a total blast! I was with a friend that had the same setup (literally put together in 4 hours day of) and we were sending it like crazy at a regional park. We were using 48v 14ah lithium batteries (could be the same exact one you have) and everything worked fine. We also really liked having regen and set it really high: braking was incredible. I hit a top speed of 35mph (could've went faster but there was a turn in the road) with field weakening set pretty low. (I weigh about 108 so I go extra fast). But yeah sorry for the long message but I just wanted to say thank you for your effort towards the build guide and inspo videos! I will try to upload my go pro footage to youtube asap. Let me know if you need anything!

@@JMilky7 that is super awesome to hear! I'm not sure which mount you went with, but I let my chain get too loose (from stretching I think) and didn't take care of it in time and the sprocket teeth got worn down. So keep an eye on that.
Also instead of making the mount twice as thick, for the time being I used a bolt the length of the entire front and sandwiched some washers together with two nuts so they press up against the front of the mount to keep it from flexing.
I still can't bring myself to spend 60 bucks on amount without trying my damndest to make it on my own first.

I am really happy to finally have gotten this thing together. I ran into some problems but took a breather, researched things I did not understand, and managed to fix them. There was extra noise coming from my chain not being lined up quite right as well as the Allen key for the sprocket getting stripped out. Then everything was acting strange due to the battery I was using being nearly dead. I was extremely frustrated!
My current important settings in this video:
    Max amps from battery 30
    Max amps to motor 100
    Max watts 2200
    Field weakening 60 amps
Field weakening at 93% duty cycle
If you don't know what field weakening is, check the parts list for links to some articles. If I had not understood what it does and why, my settings would probably not have been what they are. Good luck to all of you!
P.S. I'm laughing at how obvious some these other channels are with their bought views and subs. It's pathetic behavior.

I really do not like the episode type of short release, even though that what I've done. I really want to make a master video with chapters. a real, thought out, scripted, one-stop-shop covering every last bit of knowledge and tips about modding. Due to that, I don't know that I will release anything until then, but you are welcome to ask questions. I might add a build guide to the parts page to tide people over until I make the video. With it being winter and cold as balls, plus me wanting to sell my red cart this week, I need to take as much footage and b-Roll with it that I might need before it's gone. I think the template will be that best ingredient I can provide for people who will not be buying it from chargedup3d. I will try to get that uploaded to the parts list tomorrow.

YES! I appreciate your VESC video man. I ended up doing more research and diving into the desktop app as well. My idea after understanding field weakening was to only use it at the top end of the duty cycle so the motors normal torque could take it farther. Also after riding it with the 55t sprocket I felt like it had the torque to still pull alright on the 47t.

@@vicstfu9133 well the low end currently beats the pants off of my 500 w XL motor that's getting me 32 mi an hour so that's saying something. The cool thing about this is it's tunable. You just have to factor in the added weight. They sell a larger motor for about the same price that would probably dissipate heat better.

I think you should try doing the top speed with a different app bc according to one guy it is innacurate...
"Top speed of 54 km per hour with 40 volts of field weakening at 50 continuous amps. Whatever speeds these guys have been showing you, There not correct, In fact they are way off, by a lot more than I thought.
When I was riding this, it said I was doing 80 km per hour through the app, but on my phone which is correct and has been tested to my car speedo. I was doing 54 km per hour. Massive difference. "

    • @TheCrazyCartModChannel
      @TheCrazyCartModChannel  2 місяці тому +1

@@bubbachuck1 it literally measures motor speed, and if you have the math right about your gear ratios and tire size it is accurate. I confirmed it with GPS on my phone as well. @@Boemel Thank you for the input. It seems that this tiny motor might actually run into heat issues pretty quickly with these high amp draws. While you are making a great point, my channel is more geared towards readily accessible and relatively cheaper options than others are providing.
I just wanted to make videos I hadn't really seen others make when I got into this.
