    Yes. With the Motodynamic fender eliminator, I had no problem mounting the Givi bracket that attaches to the sub frame. But if I tried to attach turn signals, they would hit the bags. But I don't have turn signals since the bags have LED lights, and when the bags are off, the tail light has integrated signals.

    Love your bike color man, the black front with the blacked out windshield, looks S-E-X-Y! I think the color scheme with the blacked out exhaust looks awesome too. I hope they add cruise control and heated grips in their next version.

    Great looking bike, My current ride is an 08 Yamaha FZ6. Right now I would not change it , 2017 will be my 3rd year of riding. Love riding more & more every time I go out, thinking I will upgrade in 2 yrs or so and I like what I see in the Ninja 1000. Looks amazing without bags but great with them too. I like the upright riding style , seems similar to mine from what I read & see.
    The reason to upgrade , I want to do more distance touring and like the hard saddle bags to carry clothes and extra stuff for several days on the road & the safety of ABS and traction modes it offers ( as of 2014 models ) I think.
    Again, great looking bike though.
    All the best , Tom.

    Hi MIke, thanks again for the informative video! Curious on the wiring cord and connection used for the phone charging. I now have the same mount as you (thank you again) but concerned about charging directly with a cord directly from the battery. Usually the cord would have a current limiting charger built in limiting the charge to say 900ma.

    • @gtobruin
      @gtobruin  9 років тому

      I'm not charging directly to the battery. I wired the charger to the auxiliary plugs behind the left fairing. I think it has a 2 amp fuse. The charging chord also is limited.

    Hi Michael!
    Brother, you're a lifesaver!!
    you answer all the questions that I have... I just bought a 2012 ninja 1000 and I want to do exactly what you did already in yours!
    thank you so much for making this video!

      Hey. No problem. I'm glad the video helped. Almost everything I did, I learned from the forums. But there weren't many videos. Since I made the video, I added bar end mirrors. I'll add the link to the I bought. They bolted right in.

      Michael, I got a question ... when you bought the adapter for the bags plxr4100, you have to buy also the 4100kit?? what's this kit does??

    • @gtobruin
      @gtobruin  9 років тому

      To your question about the kit for the Givi bags. When buying the racks they make you buy a "kit". That's because there are different grab rails depending on whether you are going to use a top box or not. The kit gives you the correct mounting depending on your choice not to use the top box.

    Nice set up. Where and what did you specifically set your bike up with and how much did it cost. I can't seem to find what you have in regards to the Givi Panniers. Thanks

    • @gtobruin
      @gtobruin  9 років тому

      +blthetube1 Sorry for the late reply. Below are the links to the GIVI racks I used to mount the GIVI V35 panniers. I purchased the racks and bags from Motorcycle Superstore. But I had a bad experience with their customer service, so I don't recommend them. I also added the lighting kit from Admore Lighting from their website, and the fender eliminator and integrated tail light from Motodynamic off of eBay. I did the installation myself, so the only set cost was the purchases. If you are going to do the Admore lighting kit and the fender eliminator, do it all at once since you have to drop the subframe to do it. Might as well do it once. I did one, then the other months later. I had to do a lot of duplicate work.

    That is a beautiful bike, I'm looking to get a Ninja 1000 as my next bike after a lot of research. It seems that it will fit my local and distance touring needs. I like the clean look with having the integrated taillights and turn signals. Are you looking into doing any future upgrades to the bike? I'm itching to get mine :)

      Michael Fok Yeah, sounds good. I usually use the winter to clean, maintain, and upgrade my bikes. Kind of rough not being able to ride, but I know spring is just around the corner. You going to do anything to the head lights? I've seen some very neat custom headlights.

    • @gtobruin
      @gtobruin  5 років тому

      salah-eddine salahuddine Hi. Congratulations on your new ride. Yes, I still have mine, and since this video, I've added bar end mirrors. But I still use the stock exhaust. Mostly because my other two bikes are loud, one a Cafe bike and the other a cruiser. It's nice to have one that is quieter. But this bike is still amazing. Very torquey for a sport bike and the seating position is comfortable. It is a little buzzy above 7k RPM. And I actually don't use the bags that often. I found that a tail bag is fine for most days. I use the OEM expandable tail bag from Kawasaki. Good luck.

    Thanks Mike! I'm coming off a 2014 BMW k1300s and have been really thinking about a left over 2012/2013 Ninja 1000 or a 2014/2015 Ninja 1000, but have been leaning towards the 14/15 simply because the bags thats available through Kawasaki...I absolutely love the new 2014/15 bag system Kawi has, but the Givi seem to be just as nice but a bit more hardware...Now i have a better idea what id like to do...Ejat part of MD do you live? Im right over the border of MD & Pa, Chester County Pa...If youre close, maybe shoot me a email and we can m,eet up for a nice twistie run! Thanks again!

    So with that fender eliminator, you were able to use the Givi mount? I was unable to use the Givi center mount, where the eliminator would mount. Might have to look into your fender eliminator.

    hello I'm sorry I know this is an older video but I was trying to find out what kind of bags are those

    • @gtobruin
      @gtobruin  8 років тому +1

      Bags are Givi V35 panniers. On 2011-13 Ninja 1000, these were the bags Kawasaki offered as optional equipment. The racks are from Givi, and not the racks that Kawasaki offered.

  • @GTOOtt

    If you still have this bike can you make a video that shows how the givi bracket under the grab handles is fitted? I asked my dealer to fit givi panniers and he removed the grab handles. I can't figure out how to install the grab handles with the bracket.

    • @gtobruin
      @gtobruin  9 років тому

      There are no brackets that attach to the grab handles. However, Givi provided new grab handles as part of the package. Presumably the stock ones don't fit with the racks.

    • @GTOOtt
      @GTOOtt 9 років тому

      Thanks for the reply.
      I've figured out that I can get by without the brackets as long as I don't overload the panniers. I have the exact same mounting points as you but it looks like these brackets could be a new addition from Givi to provide more support.

    • @gtobruin
      @gtobruin  4 роки тому +1

      Pretty sure the bags are still made. Givi V35 is pretty standard. Not sure about the lighting. Quite honestly, after owning it for several years now, I ride with a tail bag most of the time. Hardly use the hard cases.

      @@gtobruin thanks so much for the reply!
      I'm hoping to do some touring with it. I've got a givi monokey setup from my previous bike, but it's all beat up and ratty looking, so the thought of mounting it on my shiny new bike isn't very appealing. the color matched bags are just so slick, especially with the quick release racks!

    • @rileybush6459
      @rileybush6459 4 роки тому

      I should specify that the old monokey is a top case. I've seen rail sets that would probably work for this bike, but I'm really interested in having the option of having the super clean look yours does when I don't need the storage.
      What tail bag do you have?

    • @gtobruin

      To tell you the truth, I'm not sure. I think so. But I ride with my bags on 75% of the time. You see from my video that they are wired for lights. So I don't really think too much about the tail light not being bright enough.
