Really useful content. I've been freelancing and being the everything-guy for so long, I'm really not very familiar with team structure and studio functions these days. It's a liability. Would be very happy to see more of this nuts and bolts content. Cheers.
How much design is too much design? I've been learning web design for a couple of years now but pivoted to front-end development in the last 6 months. I have to say I love mixing my design and illustrative skills with technical skills in web development projects, but it gets difficult to balance between both. In your opinion, what should a professional of any field know to be able to incorporate good design practices in their workflow? Is it better to specialize in one skill, or do you think it's achievable with modern tools (for knowledge management & assistance, not replacing any key ability)? I guess what I want to ask is: Is it possible to be a designer who codes? thank you for the content! 🫂🫂
Absolutely! I code myself but entry level. Most of my site work is customized by myself. I honestly think being a front end developer is great. This is best of both worlds. Developers miss many details because they don't design, a front end designer can be a great addition to a team. I do love the satisfaction I get from coding something, but its too much work and I get frustrated often since testing browsers is always a real pain. But yeah I think you found good niche, go ahead and stay strong. As for your question, which is a nice one and might make it to a video, how much design is too much design? well remember this quote from Milton Glaser: "Just enough is more."
Just bought your books. Thanks as always for the video.
