- Here I’m sharing my granddaughter’s huwswif, which is finished!
TIP: For the curve on the front of the huswif, I joined a piece of bias binding to the straight cut binding. I started pinning this just before the curve starts, which took me around the curve smoothly, with no puckers. The rest of the straight cut binding goes along the huswif easily. I also share a special letter from my granddaughter and Flat Stanley! 😊

How precious! I would have been thrilled to receive this as a 7 year old! Everything about it is charming; the colors, designs on the fabric, the little pockets, the tine scissors, the button colors and shapes, the dainty thimble, the tiny lace details, the yoyo, her name tag, the darling pin cushion, the sweet little charms and the fancy flower and ribbon closure. What a wonderful treasure for your granddaughter to cherish and learn to sew. What a loving Grandma to make such a thoughtful personalized gift. You both are so blessed.

She has asked her Mom if she can do some stitching before school, which just thrills me. She also wanted to do some stitching when here the other day. I would have loved one of these as a little girl Becca, although I did have a wicker basket that my mother had filled with pieces of fabric and oddments, threads, pins and needles... oh how I wish I still had that basket.... Your hussif is so cute! I have an idea for the buttons that you might like: I tacked the buttons to an empty space on the inside. All you need to do is snip one thread to take it off. 😊

I'm thrilled that schools are still doing flat Stanley!! When my boys were young, we were supposed to mail him to someone else we knew, but they did not. We mailed the pictures to the child, while Stanley went on further adventures. This was repeated several times by a certain date & then he was returned with the last set of pictures and story. The map in the classroom ended up full of pushpins all over the world! TFS!

Thanks very much, Linda! The fabrics are mostly from Judy Rothermel’s 1930’s lines. They’ve been collected over years, so there isn’t one specific collection. You might check Etsy and EBay for some. I wish she’d bring these lines back. They’re so precious.

The fabrics are 1930’s reproduction fabrics by Judy Rothermel, and the kitty fabric is Cucumber Kitty. I’ve bought them from my local quilt shop, which is now closed, Etsy and from EBay. I’ve collected these fabrics over time. Here is one shop you might try
