A couple of weeks ago, my Son Konnor and I were invited out the the Yamaha Press Event for the YZ450FX, YZ250X, and YZ125X in South Carolina. We had a blast learning about the bikes and being able to ride them for a couple of days. What follows is one on those rides. Hope you enjoy!
We will have full reviews of the bikes in a future video!

I love when people from out west or higher elevations come to ride in my neck of the woods. Even a 125 is just a completely different bike at lower elevations. And our single track is tight, muddy and rooty. Which is why I prefer a 125 in NC/SC.
yeah. I wish it would have been a bit drier in most of the spots. It was so muddy in many areas, I didn't turn the camera on. We were paddling with our feet off the pegs and moving really slow.
@@DirtBikeChannel If you are ever back in SC there are two places you should check out. Carolina Adventure World and Enoree OHV. Enoree is a state park, but has some of the nicest, well kept, flowy trails I've ever ridden. 24-48 hour ride ban after rain though. CAW is kind of pricy, but they have over 100 miles of trails, MX track, dirt circle, dirt dragstrip, food and pro shop on site, cleaning stations, camping and cabin rentals. It's a big place.
My 350 is sometimes too much in this stuff I think a 250f or 250t is perfect slick and roots is terrible on small bores but it is funny to watch people from out west ride this stuff that track was so destroyed on day 2 of the sprint enduro I wish they ribboned off wider like this at the sprint enduro
450fx no complaints on single track with mapping
This is a perfect depiction of 90% of hare scramble and enduro racing in NC/SC . Sometimes drier sometimes wetter but always fun, some parts are sandier and deal with the rain better but we seem to always get enough rain to keep it wet in spots especially this time of year.
Welcome to the East Coast.
Don’t ever stop making 2 strokes !!!!
What absolutely GREAT bikes the 125X & 250X are. Looking forward to the review video.
That's what it is like to ride in Ohio almost 90% of the time. It's slick as all get out from the clay. Just a little moisture and it is is like ice skating.
Sounds challenging.
Keep up the amazing work man! I think I speak for us all when I say that its super nice to see you ride. It really shows that your how to and tip videos come from a place of knowledge.
I appreciate that!
I have a 2019 250hrs kept up with basic maintenance and the bike rides like the day I got it
That’s awesome to see you ride in South Carolina. The dirt is definitely different and can be slick but its fun. If you ever go to North Carolina go to Brown Mountain. Its 2 hours up the ride but completely different.
Great to see you woods riding back east, YZ250x makes a great woods bike as I have one for riding in Mississippi
I got a yz125x the other day and it is so fun
Looking forward to your review of the yz250x. And putting in another plug/ request for you to review the Beta 390rr. Lots of changes since your last review of that bike. Keep up the great channel and I really like you having Conner review a bike.
I wouldn't say lots changes. I'd say some very minor updates. I don't really do a full review like I would if I bought the bike. I just give some thoughts and that is in a coming video.
I have an older yz250 that i converted to use in the woods. It is a very good bike set up right. I bet the 250X and 125X are both super fun
Your son look good on that blue 125. Now you'll have grab one of each, Apex heads, skids, FWW, and put on some hours. Did they say how they were jetted, curious particularly the 250.
Great video! The 250x is a great bike. Definitely my pick for a new Japanese woods bike. In my opinion the wr250-450f are just too much maintenance. The simplicity of 2 strokes rules!
Good choice!
Not many choices to choose from if you’re limiting yourself to Japanese only, and even less if also going for two stroke only. Why limit yourself to Japanese only? More off road choices than ever out there if you don’t.
Yeah most def but the prices for new European bikes is outrageous
@@bmusic0912yamaha 250x would be the number one selling bike if it had a e start.
Not that much maintenance on a WR250F
Great video, if the put an estart on them, Id buy 2 !!
I would really like to ride that back to back with a regular yz250. I got to ride the regular one at a Yamaha event last year and it was more rowdy than I remembered 250 two strokes being back in the day.
Good to see you making vids I want to watch again.
You used to have a formula.
This is the bike I got, how I set it up, and my experiences riding it.
Then you got away from that, and your content suffered.
Wish I hadn't sold my yz250, they are a handful but super fun!
I've still got my '06 i bought new. Great bike, but yeah it ain't got that built in stability like a 4 stroke.
Man these trails look awesome. It's so rocky here in North Arkansas it's rough
I’m in Arkansas too. The rocks suck to ride on. I miss living in Utah and just having nice dirt trails
If you liked SC, you should give WV a try.
I was invited out and they paid for airfare and hotel. I"ll make 10-$20 on this video from UA-cam so it doesn't make any sense for me to travel to ride. I spent WAAAAAY more in airport parking, food, and such than I'll ever make from these videos. Plus it's all the time away from home. The numbers don't make sense for me to travel just to make a UA-cam video.
@@DirtBikeChannel yeah definitely understand, I’m just recommending if you ever get a chance to get out there aside from working the UA-cam channel. It’s some awesome riding.
@@DirtBikeChannel this response really shows that you are doing this only to make money and you've lost the passion for it. Sorry to see this. Lots of us save up all year to go to destination rides and it is absolutely worth it.
Right in my backyard.
This model YZ 250X is not found in Brazil only the YZ 250 😮
I want a headlight on the 250X
Yep
And electric start so you can use it in hard enduro
@@rogermty1971 I want a dirt bike with a kick only and a headlight.
In this video type of terrain which do you rather to take yz450fx or wr450f ?
Awesome! What do you think about our East Coast conditions compared to riding out west? Are you going to review the beta?
It rained for 3 days straight before we got there, so it was a bit slick and muddy in spots. I didn't show the really bad spots.
How does this bike compare to the XCW in the slow, tight and technical stuff?
Are those trails available to the public? I live here
Heres the only issues with the Yz250x
1: It does need a e-start option
2: It needs a 6 speed gearbox like the yzfx/ Wr models
3: Here in my country at least you cannot legally ride this bike on the public roads. Which will result in a $1000 fine. I was really considering it until they told me it couldn’t be registered. So why not just buy a Sherco, Beta or a Ktm?
Once they have a electric start I’ll think about it.
That is Big Buck GNCC?
How bout those Pine Roots Kyle?
I have a yz250 built for woods and a yz250fx. I’m faster on the FX. But have more fun on the two stroke. Needs a 6th gear
Are those still carbureted? It's odd that Yamaha doesn't have modern features like electric start and a hydraulic clutch.
The '23 was. 8k bike. Can't have all the toys for free. Yamaha is def taking a if it ain't broke, don't fix it approach on this bike. i have an '06 YZ250 I bought new, buddy has a '17 250x pretty damn similar.
I really do not like the exhaust note of the Yamaha. The Euro two strokes have a pleasant sound but the Yammie is just piercing.
What did you think about riding in South Carolina?
Sounds a bit rich but i approve
Is that Randy Hawkins place?
I believe so, yes.
I currently ride a CRF450L, but have been considering selling it and going with the YZ250X since I no longer ride on the road and will be only riding off road trails and woods. What are ur thoughts?
Get a carb’d 2017-2019 KTM or Husky. No vibration, E start and they’re awesome bikes. I’ve been riding and racing for 43 years and I’ve owned a YZ250x, a 17 KTM250xc and now will probably keep my 19 Husky TX300 forever and unless you’re a really fast/aggressive rider you don’t need to do anything to the suspension on those bikes other than having the right spring rates for your weight. Don’t listen to the clowns who will say you need to spend thousands on suspension. You can find those bikes used for a really good price. I’m not brand loyal either. If Yamaha came out with a new 2 stroke I’d be first in line.
You need to look ahead more
Well made, reliable dinosaur with top quality suspension. Too bad Yamaha refuses to update the bike. A 6 speed transmission, headlight, Estart, hydraulic clutch, and a stronger charging system would let them sell lots more bikes. If Beta can do it, why can’t Yamaha?
Wtf is with the music
Ads and music are terrible and ruined decent content.
