Soul X-Pipe Porsche 911 Turbo Install (Project Turbo EP01)

- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- Welcome to my new Porsche project series.... Project Turbo! In this episode I'm teaming up with my friend Chris, the owner of this gorgeous 2015 991.1 Turbo, to install a Soul Performance X-Pipe to give his 911 the true flat six growl it deserves. The Soul X-Pipe is a direct bolt-on component that simply replaces the factory center muffler. In this video you get to see the entire job, step by step, followed by a before/after comparison of the stock Porsche exhaust vs. the Soul X-Pipe exhaust. Stay tuned for more Project Turbo videos coming over the next few months and Chris and I take on several other mods including powder-coating his OEM wheels, some exterior styling mods, red seat belts and much more.
As ever, thanks so much for watching my videos and supporting my channel. Keep the comments and chat coming! More videos coming soon. Cheers!

Now who wouldn’t want James as their neighbor…what a bloke who helps you put on a Soul exhaust system. 😂😂😂. You have a very good heart James 👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤷♂️
That Turbo is so clean!! James, I’ve always appreciated how you do sound comparisons. You give it to us 3-4 times in 2-3 different ways. It really lets you grasp and hear the difference. Another quality video out the the (not quite, but close enough) Auto Amateur Garage!
Hahah. Cheers, appreciate it!! Yeah, Chris' garage could pass for mine with some floor tiles, right?? (To be completely honest, I stole the idea for the PORSCHE lettering on the wall from Chris.... he copied my cabinets though.... ;-)
Thanks for this video. It has given me the courage to tackle this project myself!
Awesome William! Go for it!! Let me know if you need any help as you do it.
Saw the thumbnail and thought you bought a turbo!
Hahah. Sorry, wasn't intended to be click bait! :-)
What an amazing difference! Well done James! 🙂👍
Thanks, appreciate it!
Wow..what a difference! Very nice sound.
Thanks! Yes, makes such a great difference.
Superb sound from the new pipes!! Nite and day...btw give it the beans! haha...thanks for the share!!
Soul is by far the best exhaust for Porsche. Love mine, sounds amazing!
Cheers! -Mike
Couldn't agree more!
Love these kind of videos. Well done
Thanks so much, appreciate the feedback! Cheers.
THIS IS THE WAY to give an impression of exhaust tone differences. Switching back and forth a few times! Car UA-camrs take note! Great video James…. I see a Turbo in your future if you keep going like this.
Haha, thanks Rob!! p.s. I always appreciate a good Star Wars reference too. This IS the way. :-)
Big difference! As always a bloody great way to show how achievable certain projects can be even on a modern Porsche! Nice work as always Pal!
Cheers mate!! Appreciate it!!
Great video. I wish you could have seen HERcules’ response when you played your “tuba” on the Soul x pipe. Priceless.
Hahahahahahahah.
Glad to have found this video which just has the x-pipe install which is what I really wanted to hear
Not a huge fan of white vehicles, but that ☝🏻is one sweet looking Turbo, just beautiful 🤩 . As a DIYer myself, I really enjoy these videos and the fact that you have installed this X-Pipe (just incredible Soul Performance product) yourself on this magnificent machine is just awesome. Keep them coming….👍🏻
Thanks so much! Appreciate it!
Love the soul X-pipe. Have on my TTS and sounds amazing.
Right on!
Thank you so much for yet another excellent comparison video! All killer, no filler! -Mike
Cheers Mike!! 🙌🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hmm need to get this sorted for my C4 991.2. Thanks for the video!
Get on it!! You will love it. It sounds SOOOO good.
Great job James! Another amazing video! Soul Performance Valved Exhaust is my best upgrade on my 991.1 C2! I can’t wait to hear this turbo in a few days!
Cheers Mike! All the best!! 🙌
Cheers! -Mike
Nice video. Soul makes great products. It's what i'm running on my 991.1 Turbo S as well.
One minor note: It's not a factory "Porsche Sports Exhaust" PSE. The 991 Turbo and Turbo S did not come standard with any sort of switchable or "PSE" exhaust, nor was there an option for one. Just your standard factory Turbo exhaust... The 991 base/S/GTS that came with the smaller 3.0L turbo engine (as opposed to the 3.8L in the capital-T Turbo) did have an optional PSE exhaust, but that is a completely different exhaust setup.
Aha! Thank you!!
Nice video, James!!!! I look forward to seeing your next car!!!👍🏻🚗🚙🏎
Cheers Antonio!! Looking forward to lots more fun in 2022.
Sounds way better.
Cheers Manuel!! 100%.
James I have a 997 Turbo which sounded ok stock but got a local Melbourne Australia Super Car expert to remove the baffles only from the muffler. Revs cleaner and sounds great. Also no drowning on freeways. Great show.
Nice James, nice! You’re The Godfather of Soul 😉🤣. Have a great Holiday Season & Christmas 🎄, take care & beware of Omicron (that’s a real game changer). Cheers, all the best, Irwin 🖖
Cheers Irwin!! Hope you’re well mate. Take care! 🎅🏻🙌
Huge shout out to SOUL performance! Upon initial start up you can hear just a little bit of the difference but once that car is driven and it’s revved past 3000 RPM, boy is it an unbelievable sound difference.
Now that I saw how easy it was to get the cats off I’m really thinking I just replace them with SOUL sport cats. lol
Thank you for trusting us to enhance your Turbo! We greatly appreciate the enthusiasm both of you have towards sharing your experiences. -Mike
Happy holidays I see ya still grinding the vids!! BLESS UP!!
Hahaha. Thanks!
excellent video as usual thks
Cheers!! Appreciate the feedback.
Great content, as always!! Thank you!
Thank you Andres!!
Fantastic video! This helped me make my decission to get the SOUL X-Pipe on my 991.2 Turbo S. I love the car, just felt like it was missing a little SOUL. HA!
That's awesome!! Congratulations!!
As powerful as the turbos are, I always thought it odd that they sounded so asthmatic. That made a huge difference. BTW, for some reason I think your next 911 is going to be an air-cooled one. Yes? ;-) Cheers!
Sorry to disappoint dude, but I don't think so. :-) Only if I can find a way to stretch out an old air-cooled 911 to the sort of dimensions I've become accustomed to with the 991 and 992. Haha.
@@AutoAmateur Their interiors are a bit cramped for us big guys but still very cool. OK, it's either a Turbo or a GT of some flavor. LOL First World Problems LOL Wishing you and your family nice holidays.
Now to put a Cherry on Top. Put on the Soul High Flow Catalytic Converter as I did on my 992. Wow, it will add to the Low end Rubble and make it sound MEAN!!!
Oh just wait! :) -Mike
Cheers Bernie... watch this space!! :-)
Not much with X pipe a little deeper Sound. Since i did the Full Soul Exhaust & Headers on my 991.1 (PSE) I like the Bigger Sound and Faster Acceleration.... Soul is Amazing...
YES!! Awesome stuff. Soul PP for the WIN! :-)
Why do the wheels need to come off? Coincidentally I am doing the same thing to my 15 Turbo and have center locks. I really don’t want to remove them unless I have too.
Good observation!! The wheels really don't need to come off. We removed them because we're shooting another video in parallel, specifically about the wheels. You can remove the rear bumper and do everything you need to do with the wheels on. Cheers!
Hey James, I missed your videos !
It's nice to feel appreciated!!! Cheers. :-) Happy holidays!
Hey Jemes. I have a 991.1 Turbo and I want to change the tail lights to the clear one. do you have a video on how to remove the wing to approach the tail light.
You should find the wing removal steps in this video of the X-pipe install. We had to remove it to get the bumper off.
Nice video, how much do they cost?
It depends on what you bundle with them. The X-pipe itself on its own is around $2k, some people also add the sport cats, or the cat bypass pipes. Tips are an option too.
@@AutoAmateur thanks :-)
Get yourself into a 991 GT3 Touring mate!
Omg. I’d love to! You have a spare $250k laying around you could give me? 🥴🙃
@@AutoAmateur if I had that kind of money, I'd be buying a Beechcraft Bonanza 😂
Did you really put your Quickjacks in through the back instead from the sides? lol Also they are on the wrong sides. The lock mechanism should be on the outside.
True! But they still went up and down safely.
Have you heard how it sounds on a 991.1 GTS?
No, but the GTS is one of the next 911s I'm considering. Either the 991.1 or 991.2 model... I'm going to try to compare the two.
Did you have to replace the turbo/cat gasket?
No, it was in great condition. Given the car has only 10k miles on it, probably not surprising. Having said that, it looked easy to replace if you ever need to do the job.
Anyone know will this pass emissions. Or do I need revert back when it's emissions time?
I think if you're in California you're screwed.
I need new friends.
Hahaha.
We'll be your friend.
