- It’s sports exhaust time...! It's ON and it sounds incredible!! In this video you get see the installation and end result of my brand new Soul Performance valved exhaust system! As well as installing the valved exhaust I wanted to go the extra mile to hook it up to the Porsche Sports Exhaust Button inside the cabin that sits in the center console next to the Sports and Sports Plus functions.
As ever, thanks so much for watching my videos and supporting my channel. I do all of this because of my passion for cars and interacting with like minded car enthusiasts. Keep the comments and chat coming! More videos coming soon. Cheers!

The fact that the Soul exhaust didn't change the note of the sound but instead amplifies it with a bit of pops and crackles thrown in is just awesome! I really do love the way it sounds. The Fister exhaust with X pipe on my 997.2 gave it a deeper sound and really wakes it up when I hit the throttle. Thanks for sharing bro.
Thanks for the love!
Thanks Vincent!! Cheers mate!! 🙌🤩🤩🤩
Hey Vincent so what is the best exhaust for a 997.1? Fister or Soul?
Hats off to Seth for letting you film him working all day. The video is a great perspective on the job.
Thanks Bucky!! Yeah, Seth is a rock star. So cool and works his ass off!!
Good, actually great, to see that a man can be so happy with his car (and new parts on it). Like a six year old in a candy shop. I think there’s only one brand which can achieve all this: the one that brings a smile on your face every single day of the week.
Porsche, there is no substitute.
Hahaha. That’s so true!!! 🙌🤩
I'm sorry but the 991 is just such a beautiful car. I don't see this one EVER getting dated.
Preach! 🤩🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Agreed! No need to be sorry!!
We're beyond thrilled that you're happy with the results, James! Here's to a million miles of enjoyment! Thank you again for the awesome video! - Mike
Thanks Mike and thanks to Evan for putting it together! I still get such a kick from that video footage you sent me. :-) Cheers!
I just got mine, cant wait to pickup my car on Friday. Not going to be able to sleep for 2 days
Hahahaha. I know how you feel!! Congratulations Willy. Awesome! Enjoy.
What a treat to go to that dealership. What a toy store! I, frankly, never get tired of looking at Porsche’s. That black 992? - stunning. And BTW, valves open ALWAYS.
Hahahaha. Sir yes sir!! Valves OPEN. 🤣🥳🥳🥳
Your true excitement/anticipation makes me smile!! Great video...was just at the dealer with my family on Saturday.
That’s cool!! Haha. Thanks so much!
Now we are talking !! WOW ! Super Upgrade ! And what a Professional job from Porsche Minneapolis
Thanks Trond!! Yeah, they did such a great job!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🤩
Ooh Yea!!! Awesome, they let you in the shop to film. Quality install and parts!
They did such a great job. Absolutely amazing experience to watch.
James, yesterday I installed my Soul PP exhaust after watching your video some months ago, all I can say is wow it completely transforms the car! Response is better and the sound in sport mode is unbelievable, especially the pops and gurgles when you lift off the throttle. Thx again for being the catalyst in my decision, Soul is the only way to go, I even went the extra mile like you and had it wired to the Porsche exhaust button in the center console! Cheers Andy
Andy, what was the cost to install the PSE button? I have the SOUL exhaust installed, just need to wire it to the button on the console.
Awesome. I’m happy for you.
Nice video.
My 991 came with the PSE which is worth every penny it cost. Total driving enjoyment.
Thanks Dennis!
Wow, the Soul Performance exhaust has really made the 911 sound the way a 911 should sound. I didn't want to video to end, I wanted to hear more of it.
Glad you like it! :)
That's very kind!! Thanks mate!!

Man!! I’m excited for you!! I can’t wait til I get to play around. It does sound meaner. Looking forward to the before/after video. And that light blue GT3.....🤤. That’s the color the wrap should be if not green!! Congrats, on the exhaust James! Enjoy it as much as you can before storage season is in full swing. PS, you’ve got to get a gratuitous shot of the Sports Exhaust button that you (and by you, I mean Seth) went through all that trouble installing.
Hahahahaha. Will do!!! 🤣👍
K1dPhresh1 I agree with you my man, the GT3 Blue or the wicked Green
SOUL logos everywhere.
Buttoning it all up before testing for function, Seth is very confident! And he makes getting a seat out of the 911 look easy... which it definitely is not.
Hi, ex-ce-llent decision. I would like see the Botton on and off in the cabin and how change the sound. You must be the happiest guy right now. Cheers!!!
Thanks Rafael!!!! It’s awesome. More video footage to come soon with the before and after!
Incredible result. Thrilled for you.
Thanks Charlie! Appreciate it!! 🤩🙌
Sounds great and always good to have that mischievous smile 😃
Hahaha. Just can't help it!!
Sounds amazing. You might have a problem with the button on the pse. It might get stuck on the open position. Well, I had been saying that to my wife. Lol Well done enjoy it.
Hahahaha. Right! ;-) Cheers!
Buttons are great
You can never have enough
🤣👍
That engine’s got soul James...awesomeness!
Hahaha. Thanks Stephen!!
I have a 981S and contemplating an exhaust upgrade from the standard (non-PSE) exhaust, but want to have the valve actuator installed. Glad to see that some dealers will actually perform this work, even if you choose to go with an aftermarket exhaust. Congratulations, sounds wonderful and a really smart looking car too.
Thanks!! You won't regret an exhaust like this and having searched for months to figure out if I could hook it up to the OEM PSE button inside the car, I'm so so happy that it was possible. Now you know! It's not a myth!! Enjoy.
Have you looked into our Valved Exhaust? You can pair our fobs with the factory HomeLink buttons to control the valves as well. As the rear exhaust doesn't alter any emissions devices, they dealer can't really give you too much of a hard time. We're always here if you have any questions!
@@SoulPerformanceProducts Thanks for the reply, I am considering the option you have provided. Still researching to make my final decision. Want to make sure I can do it, or have it installed without any hacking/modding. Thanks again!
@@drugdocnc You're most welcome! Feel free to call in and chat with us, we'd be happy to go over and aspect of the components or installation with you.
Great upgrade. Sound is incredible and so important for the driving experience. 👌✌️
Thanks Nicholas!! Yeah, it really has transformed the driving experience. I'm so happy with it.
Waww .. what a demoniac snoring... love it 😍
I really liked your face’s expression when you heard it for the first time 😆
Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm.

Good stuff, magic sound, another great video! Congratulations!
Thanks Oliver!!
Congratulations! Sounds fantastic!
Cheers Dino!
It sounds great mate. Even better in person :) good decision on soul
Thanks mate!! 🤩🙌🙌🙌
Thanks for the love!
Great video, thank you for making it. The car sounds great! Keep up the good work. I really want to upgrade my 991.1 C2 exhaust.
Thanks Charles!! Check out Mike Spock at Soul Performance. They have a Thanksgiving sale on right now!
Hey Charles, we'd be happy to chat with you to answer any questions that you have! Give us a call any time!
Wow, that is a major job. The shop looks amazing, and if they had one like that here where I live in Mexico, I might consider going that deep into an unnecessary mod. So far, I limit mods to work I can do myself, and never visit the dealer. If they had a “Seth” here, it would be different, lol.
James, I just realized I've never noticed your licence plate... Mein Herr, das ist perfekt... soooo cool ;) You do upgrade the game at the right level dude 👍😁
Hahaha. Merci mon ami!! 🤩👍
Congrats! I too can’t sleep the night before a big car mod 😀
Hahaha. Right?!
You look like me when I am getting a new exhaust! Happy for you, sounds great. I am actually in the process of installing a speedtech exhaust on my 996 and installing to work with the factory pse button as well! Fortunately my car came with the button so it's just a simple vacuum line connection. Enjoy the car!
Good luck! That's awesome! Thanks Rick.
It’s been a while since I’ve watched this one but I never tire of watching it! Without a doubt right up with some of your best videos (well without Ruthie in anyway 😀). Seriously, great content and awesome footage. You were very lucky to have been invited into the workshop to film all that, and I also wonder how many OPCs would be prepared to fit a non Porsche exhaust. Sterling work by Seth in his attention to detail.
As for the result, absolutely mind blowing 💨👍 ! I could listen to that all day 😊
Absolutely awesome! Beautiful car, amazing sounds. Great job making the video as always! Thnx James
Thanks so much!!! 🤩🙌
Ah man, watching this is bringing back vivid memories of my car's interior in pieces when I had that water leak! Cool job on your car though. I didn't realise Porsche would give people access to the service bays like that.
My English accent takes me a long way here in the colonies. 😉😆
Fantastic Mate!! Great Vid!
Thanks!! 🤩🙌
Great sound of your new exhaust! Cong!
Thanks Jacky!
Congratulations! I'm sure you are loving it. Too bad you're in MN and you're going to have to put her into hibernation soon. But after a few days of sitting, a cold start is even better!
I might not be able to resist firing it up every so often.... haha.
Awesome 👏 🤩 love the sound (and smile on your face hahahaa) Incredible!!! Want one too now 🙄
HA! Cheers Paul!! Well... mike@soulpp.com is just waiting for your email... You know they have a Thanksgiving weekend sale, right...? ;-) GO GET ONE! Haha.
@@AutoAmateur I meant the 991 to replace my 997 but I think I have to put the brakes on anymore cars right now :)
cold start here my neighbors would be madd as heck at 5 am goin to work lol sounds so dope (jelousy insudes)
Hahaha. Cheers mate!
Great choice. Soul is top notch stuff
Thanks Nate!! 🤩🙌
Thank you, Nate!
Another great video. Congrats.
Thanks Neil!!
Hey James from one Brit to another thanks for this video. I picked up a 2014 Racing Yellow 911, and I need to get an exhaust with more soul, as the car I just bought has no sports exhaust. . This car only has 9k miles on it.. moved from Wisconsin to scottsdale, AZ, where I get enjoy amazing cars and of course Barrett Jackson every year.. 👍 the Racing Yellow car shown in your video is pretty much my exact car.😀. Wow that looks killer with those carbon fiber tips......wow!
Cheers Michael!! Great hearing from you. You won’t regret getting the Soul PP exhaust. It’s my favorite thing about my 991.
Looking great and sounding great!
Thanks Peter!!
Great video! I just subscribed to your channel. I have a 2018 carrera without the PSE. I will be doing just the Sport Catalytic Converters. Keep up the good work!
Thanks William!! Cheers!!
Sounds so good!! Gotta have that button 😉👏😆
Haha. Yup, it's all for nothing without a button to push. Warp speed! GO!
Sounds amazing!
Thanks!!
One day, I'll own a Porsche. Great videos BTW
Never give up and that dream!! Cheers Mark!
Auto Amateur oh, absolutely not
That sounds great!
Thanks Joseph!!
Sweet sound! Hope you are still enjoying it.
Thanks Dan. And HELL YES!
👍🏽 iwill try soul exhaust in my 911 2013 3.8

love the sound! Amazing! It makes me want to do the same thing!
You won’t regret it. It’s absolutely amazing!!!
James I thought you would of had a go at that yourself, sounds great.
Thanks Paul! You know, I did think about trying to do the job myself. Having watched the whole thing though, I would never have been able to do the vacuum lines or the PSE button myself. That would have been a total disaster. Haha. I could probably have taken off the stock exhaust and installed the Soul hardware though, maybe... maybe not. Haha.
Oh shit, that black 992!!
Hahaha. I know?!
How many hours of extra labor was required to install the OME button?
Approximately 2 hours.
Love this. I’m looking to do the same thing on my base model 2015 991.1. I was going to get the Porsche exhaust system with sports exhaust but maybe I need to get me some Soul exhausts!
Hey Paul! Considering it won't cost you much more, then I would 10000% recommend the Soul system over the PSE.
sounds amaaaaaaaazing. soul makes good stuff eh? i imagine it's pricey. I've seen a 991.2 GT3RS with soul exhaust and holy shit that thing was loud and u felt it in ur chest
Thank you!!! I absolutely love it. The Soul exhaust with carbon fiber tips runs around $3400 but it’s on sale at the moment. Check it out! The OEM PSE button install and program ran another $1500.
Thanks for the love! We do our best to build premium components with as fair of a price as possible! :)
Good choice of after market exhaust. You should consider Cobb ecu tuned next.
Soul Performance headers and EuroCharged tune coming up soon....!
Sounds kinda like a gt3 and I like it 😀
HA! Now I like it even MORE! :)
Yea
Great video. You didn't have to replace the side mufflers, or did you replace them before?
Nope!
Good job 💯🔥
She sings..... Nice!!!!
Thanks!!
Your like a kid on Christmas morning lol :-) sounds great
Haha. 1000%!!! Christmas came in late November this year.
We can all relate to that smile at the 15:30 mark.
Love this!!!!!!
Cheers Patrick!
Oh the pops!!
Hahaha. Snap, crackle and pop!!
Love it!!!!!
one of a kind! very seldom that an aftermarket exhaust can accommodate and still activate pse. isn’t the right soul exhaust the one with pse since you have that in your car?
I didn’t have PSE in my car originally. I got Porsche of Minneapolis to install the PSE button for me when they installed the exhaust.
Auto Amateur Could you please explain to us how this can be done? Very urgent because my car is currently in the workshop to do the same thing. Please my friend to make an explanatory video for the PSE button installation method. I am waiting for your response and I wish you help and support.
I thought for sure, you were going to trade your 991 (with the SOUL exhaust) and drive home in a new 992! (with sport exhaust, of course!) lol
Hahaha!! Close call. 🙃🤣
Good afternoon! Where did you order the PSE button and module for your sports exhaust on your 991. I’m having my local dealer install a new Soul Performance valved exhaust and want to have them wire it to the OEM PSE Button. What is required to purchase to make this happen? Thank you in advance!
That's awesome!! In the U.K. Porsche would fit that then void your warranty, what happens in the US?
That’s a great question a few people have asked. I don’t know actually! I’ll have to find out. My car is out of warranty already though so it doesn’t impact me I suppose.
Nice
❤❤❤
Hi James, further to your recommendation my Soul exhaust is being made and I can't wait to get it installed. I, like you, (must be a British thing) want this to connect as the 911 OEM PSE and have purchase the Switch Assembly as you did. Did Seth at Porsche Minneapolis connect the switch and two wires as he would if installing a PSE connecting them to the Soul solenoid to open/close the valves? Thank as always and keep up the fabulous videos!! Cheers Andy
That’s right! Everything was hooked up and installed just like the factory PSE including some programming. It’s so awesome. You’re going to love it!!!!
@@AutoAmateur what do mean 'including some programming?" have you yet to compare yours to a simular set up soul sport cats with OEM PSE? I have a 997.1 S with PSE and thining of doing the sport cats with crossover. but not sure what that would sound like in normal mode and then with PSE activated. I've yet to find a video showing that. By the way... love your car ... color is perfect.... mine is simular , but meteor gray. is yours a stick? best of luck... I enjoy following your channel.
Wow, amazing sound, love the low revs.
But save the money and don't wrap it, it's beautiful as it is.
Thanks mate!!
Looks (sounds) really cool. Soul ( and Fabspeed) aren't too far from me, making this kind of mod even more tempting. Fabspeed has open houses often, and the Soul people are active in my local PCA chapter.
Does Ruthie approve?
Cheers!
We'd love to work with you if you are ever considering any upgrades! Stop by any time for a chat and tour!
Hahahaha. Good question. I don’t know yet. She hasn’t heard it. 😬🥴
You should definitely check out Soul. I’m absolutely blown away by how good the exhaust sounds, valves opened or closed. I can’t get enough!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Any vibration after the install? I have a Sharkwerks sport exhaust which I absolutely love. Only downside is the vibration.
No vibrations inside the cabin or anywhere from what I can tell. It’s so awesome. I love it!!
Appreciate the quick response. Glad to know that there is no added vibration. Enjoy the exhaust and keep up the awesome videos!
Thanks Ali! Appreciate it!! 🙌
Hi James, love your video’s on the Soul exhaust. I have a 991.1 targa 4s with PSE and was wondering if the upgrade to the Soul exhaust is worth it. Is there a chance you can do a comparison between your Soul exhaust en de PSE?
That's a great idea!! I'll try to find another 991 with the stock PSE and make a comparison video. Awesome. In the meantime though... yes, I would say the Soul exhaust is worth every penny. I've had several 991.1 owners with the PSE comment on how they prefer mine to theirs. I say GO FOR IT!!
@@AutoAmateur look forward to it. Do you know if there is an importer in Europe because I live in Holland. Ordering it online on the Soul website results in 25% extra after tax and import costs.
@@stephenvanes9532 that's a good question! I'm not sure but if you contact sales@soulpp.com they can point you in the right direction.
So, how much for the install and, if you know, how much would it have been if you did not do the interior switch? thanks, and it sounds great!
Thanks Dave!! You’re looking at about 4 hours of labor for the exhaust and vacuum lines installation. Another 2 hours or so for the interior button installation. All in all my total costs were around $1500, including all labor, switches / gear, parts, etc. If you’re just going to install the exhaust you’re looking at between $700 to $800.
how about a break down on parts & labor
Exhaust runs around $3000k. Labor to install, including the button and programming was around $1500.
Lookin glossy in that opening shot. What color is your car? I'm liking the grey!!
It’s Agate Grey. Thanks!
@@AutoAmateur I don't think I'd wrap it, I'd gloss it up with ceramic based products, like Polish Angel Gloss. But IF you're going to wrap don't use any ceramic products. I think the wrap struggles to stick to ceramic based products. But for me, I'd just gloss it up and enjoy it. I love the color.
Thanks!!
Is this a 3.4 or 3.8 litre 911?
I have the 3.4l C2.
How many hours did Porsche Minneapolis charge for the PSE button installation. I have 2013 C2S without PSE and I want to do this the right way.
You’re looking at around 4 hours for the exhaust and another 2 or 3 for the button and wiring.
@@AutoAmateur Thank you for the quick reply. Just subscribed to channel.
wea71 awesome! See you around online!! 🤩👍
Let us know if you have any questions!
Could you tell me how much you paid for the PSE button install?
After the cost of the exhaust itself, it was around $1600 for the labor, button / module, running the vacuum lines and programming the car.
Great vid, what’s the cost all in?
$3000+ for the exhaust. $1500 for the exhaust and button install.
Holy shit!!! That much?? Takes what it takes I suppose.
Worth every penny for the joy I was feeling as I drove away from the dealership. :)
Can we get a review on the Gran Turismo to your left there?
The car sounds awesome man!!
🤣🤣🤣
Thanks mate!!!
That's exactly what i want to do with my 1999 - 911 upgrade the exhaust system - do i need to change the headers too? also -- ? let me know
Mahalos - Bubba!
You don’t need to change the headers too, if you don’t want to. This system just replaces the side mufflers and center mufflers essentially.
@@AutoAmateur Thank you for the information -- I did go to soul exhaust website and they have the x pipe and headers also the plenum -- perhaps i will try to order it --
I can install it myself- no electrical tuning i need to do? Mahalos for the feed back-- Bubba!
Bubba Cee of course! Contact Mike. mike@soulpp.com and tell him I referred you. He’s a great guy and will answer any questions you might have before you decide to buy or not. You might even get a modest discount! Good luck!
How much did they charge for the work?
$1500 total. Around $600 for the button and labor, then around $900 for the exhaust itself.
Does this exhaust void the warranty?
No.
Do you have the PSE or just the Soul?
Both. The Soul PP exhaust functions like the PSE in that it has valves that open and close. I had it wired into the center console and the PSE button so the values open automatically after 3k revs or manually when pressing the button on/off.
Do you mind sharing install price?
Sure! I talk about it in my next video in the series. Depending on the options you choose and if you want to hook it up to the PSE button, etc... you're looking at just over $3k for the exhaust, then between $600 to $1500 for the install of everything.
Auto Amateur wow. I’m getting that exhaust on my 2014 911. My neighbor s the GM forPorsche North Scottsdale, AZ. I’ll have to see if he can hook me up. James did you purchase the exhaust direct from soul exhaust ?
I did!! Contact Mike@soulpp.com and tell him you came across them from my video. You may get yourself a nice discount! 🤩🙌
Headphones on. :)
Hahaha. Right!
Better than “hookers and blow”. Good video!
Hahaha. Absolutely!! 🤣🤣🤣
