    Good afternoon.
    Watching your videos I realized that the daggerboard is not in the middle of the cockpit. Do you think it is equally effective?
    It is clear that space is gained, any other advantages?(google translate)
    Thank you.

      Seems to be. We have never noticed a difference from one tack to the other. All of our Cat ketch designs use offset centerboards mainly to keep the keel continuous and strong but this one has it more offset. Didn't seem to make any difference. Space gain is the only advantage we were after here.

      As I've previously said. I'm old fashioned and was raised back in the earlier days. and years of yester-year. If I owned those drawings and blueprints, and I was finished using them then your request would be granted. - Why? - Because, back in the old days of the early 20th century the majority of the people after they were finished building their own DIY projects they were almost always happy to pass along and/or share their used drawings and blueprints along with their knowledge to others for "free" or at the most for just a few measily dollars (uselly less than $10.00), of whom wanted to build and have such an item for their own use but yet couldn't afford to purchase such drawings and/or blueprints.
      Those drawings and blueprints were generally passed from person to person until those drawings and blueprints were so worn out by use they would fall apart and had to be discarded in a trash recepticle. However, in the latter years of the 20th century, and here now in the 21st century, everybody has gotten money hungry greedy. It is extremely rare that used drawings and blue prints ever get passed along to another person for free or even for even a few measily dollars.
      Generally the owner wants either a full new price, or a slightly reduced new price for those used drawings or blueprints and generally never less than half price even though the owner no longer needs them. So, Good luck with that request to the owner to possibly share.
      If anything, you'll probably end up paying either a full new price, or a slightly reduced new price, or at the very least half price for those used drawings or blueprints if the owner decides to part with them at all.

      sorry, and how many centimetesrs ar from the top of outboard tramson to bottom of boat?

    • @bandbyachtdesigns
      @bandbyachtdesigns  Рік тому +1

      @@jatsualbizu8748 It's about 35cm. It took a lot of trial and error to get it as far back as I could. I recommend dry fitting everything and you really need the motor on hand to test the fit. I wouldn't use those measurements to make the mount and glue it in without having the motor to test.

    Nice build! Epoxy resin and treated wood?

    • @bandbyachtdesigns
      @bandbyachtdesigns  4 роки тому

      Marine plywood and mostly just southern yellow pine. Some or it is treated (left over from a deck build).

  • @dudoydwex
    @dudoydwex 4 роки тому

    hello sir just want to know what is the thickness of plywood did you used in that boat, thank you.

    • @bandbyachtdesigns
      @bandbyachtdesigns  4 роки тому

      Edwin, The hull of the boat is all 6mm plywood (~1/4"). It is thin because there is a lot of structure inside to stiffen in. This keeps it light. The outside also is glassed with 10oz fiberglass. The internal structure is also 6mm.

    Looking great! Is the centerboard trunk forward of the original MK3 design?

    • @alanosauras
      @alanosauras 6 років тому

      Jay, yes it is slightly fwd of original. Grahams boat has a bit of lee helm with the furling headsail so we wanted to try and improve that a bit.

    Excellent Job !!! You really have it all figured out. Glad to hear the wife is helping. Keep up the great work. I see where it fiber glassed the joints....but what do you do with the other service area's? Do you paint those or coat with epoxy then paint?

    • @bandbyachtdesigns
      @bandbyachtdesigns  6 років тому

      All surfaces are coated with 3 coats of epoxy. Exterior is painted, interior is left with just epoxy to aid in inspection later. Some high traffic areas will get glass cloth such as the cockpit sole.

    Interesting designs and great workmanship but for all the work your going to have very little room mate.
