    You are supposed to remove the plastc cover where steam can escape while popping for the best popcorn. You out it back on after you flip over the bowl.

      I don't use the plastic cover at all these days. 😊

    That would be the first batch for my late brother and his wife... they had copious quantities of popcorn and root beer every night. When we met for camping in northern California on the coast (they lived in Oregon; I'm in southern CA) for his 50th birthday in 1994, he required electric hookup... not for a trailer, because he had a large tent... when they arrived at our shared campsite, he unloaded the usual stuff... then placed his coffee maker on the picnic table (OK, they have to have their coffee)... and then placed their big Whirley-Pop on the table next to the coffee pot... tent camping did not prevent them from having their nightly popcorn!

    I remember my parents having one back in the 90s. It was all black in color. We used it just about every evening. It held up for so long until it went kaput in 2005. I plan on buying one for myself soon. I miss using it!
    I've always used canola oil for popping. My mom has also used coconut oil and bacon grease! I tried bacon popcorn in the past, and I loved it!

    Thanks for the review, my old Stir Crazy is beat so I was wondering how this new model fares. I also eat popcorn as my evening meal sometimes (I’m usually not in the mood for anything super rich anymore). PS I’ve always thought Orville popcorn is so bland; I prefer Jolly Time, so much more flavorful

      Thanks for your friendly comment. Glad to meet another popcorn fan! We've tried several types of popcorn but still prefer Orville R. I would probably buy and enjoy whatever is cheapest on Amazon.

    Thanks for the video! FWIW, corn, oil, and salt do not make a well-balanced meal. Maybe some green beans and a nice piece of salmon to go with the popcorn would be good!

      You should watch some of my cooking videos! I grow most of our food and we eat mostly from the garden. Popcorn (a whole grain food) makes a great meal if you've loaded up on veggies, fruits and other good food breakfast and lunch. I appreciate your comment and mindfulness about eating.😊😊

      We bought a new blue Stir Crazy recently and I've posted that video. If you search Stir Crazy on my channel you should find it. Strange as it sounds popcorn is an important part of our diet and my weight control plan. Popcorn is so filling I can go to bed without an evening snack. I hope you enjoy your new Stir Crazy! Rich

    I enjoyed the video and got the new one like you. With the lid on the popcorn will taste different because I accidentally did. I have read to both ways unless butter is applied but we don’t use butter. So you are still saying pop with the lid on all the time? Thanks

    • @richdavis4007
      @richdavis4007  Рік тому +1

      I don't use the lid ever. Popcorn tastes great and pops up perfect every time, unless I forget to put in the corn oil! We don't add anything to popcorn but salt after it's popped.

    The other videos I have seen say to remove the red lid to let the steam escape while popping. Is there a reason you don't?

    • @richdavis4007
      @richdavis4007  2 роки тому

      I make popcorn with this machine with lid on every day, no problem. With a similar machine we had lost the lid so we use it lid off, no problem. So my experience tells me it doesn't matter. Since you brought it up, I'll keep an eye out to see if I should leave the lid off. Thanks. Rich

    • @malvavisco10
      @malvavisco10 Рік тому +1

      @@richdavis4007the lid is not meant to be on while popping, those are vents on top you’re supposed to place butter over if you wish so it melts while popping. The lid goes on after popping so you can flip it over and use it as a bowl without the butter and oil leaking out. Popping with the lid on is not really food-safe.

      @@richdavis4007 you did… that red thing on top is the lid, it should be removed before popping. You put it on before flipping it over. It needs to vent so you don’t melt plastic on your food and so it’s not a fire hazard
