I love my job, I work 8 hrs a day make 36.25 hr. If i want ot that's cool but not forced. I do 3-4 runs to the ports in Seattle and Tacoma WA. 100 miles a day total feel Lucky sometimes.
Cool to see you’re doing good man!!! Glad you found a company that’s working for you so far, hope it stays that way for a while. I left Tyson Foods a couple months ago, no real complaints about the company but just burned out on reefer/trucking. Came back to it this month with Crete dryvan. It hasn’t been the best so far to say the least but I’m hoping things improve. At this rate though I’m working on my endorsements/TWIC/passport - anything to get me out of reefer/dryvan. Looking into tankers, either chemical or food grade, whoever will take me at this point 😂😂 safe travels man
Good luck to you! Hard to believe you left Tyson! You’ll be in a better place soon, making more money, and living a better life! Dryvan/Reefer is a hard gig. I absolutely hated them both!
@stevo6891 tanker has more risk with the freight than reefer. Very easy to rollover. Reefer has a lot more headaches at shippers/receivers but is easier. If i had the choice, tanker all the way. Just drive safely and be committed to that (which you should be anyway) and you’ll be fine
@stevo6891 Long loading/unloading times is the biggest one, 4 hours at least, on average. Some places are faster (bless them), most are slower - 6-8 hours spent in a dock door. You might be able to get detention pay, if your company even offers it, but it’s usually not a lot and good luck getting it. What else? The people at cold storage/food plants/grocery store warehouses are often miserable to deal with: mean, hate that you arrived, and think you’re neither worth a modicum of respect or their time. The hours really suck, for whatever reason they must always ship or receive early in the morning and immediately in the afternoon, so your sleep schedule is ruined. Getting turned around at a gate by security because your reefer’s fuel is 1/16th below 3/4 of a tank and the nearest truck stop is half an hour away is nearly fist fight worthy of frustration
Chris, you said you were thinking about moving over here to Tennessee. Come on man, the grass is greener over here. If you need a hand, I'll bring over an Estes truck. 😂 haven't seen you in a while. I'm glad to see you're doing good, brotha!
Its weird they gave you the brake chamber. I know that the spring is there their supposed to cut it open and disable it cause if it gets into a landfill without being cut its like a bomb in there. You’re not supposed to open it up to change the diaphragm on the emergency side.
I would imagine you could because they hire for drivers looking to stay out 3-4 weeks. I think the position is called “flex”, see if one of those spots are open and check with recruiting.

@JoeisHungry congratulations on retirement! I had no idea! I recorded with the GoPro and the mic a long time ago, but now… I can’t get the GoPro to realize it’s even connected to a mic. I got the thing plugged in… oh well! I don’t mind using the phone camera
@@FreightHauler87 with the media mod it works but better if you put the beta software on the gopro, dont think I am gopro fanboy, they are a pain in the ass.
The money ain’t worth only seeing your family four times a month. You got to be a smart trucker and find a local job that pays 100,000 a year and you’re in your bed every night.
@FreightHauler87 agree. When a long daily commute is involved, being home "every night" isnt worth it. It costs more $$, and time, which could be used for more sleep
Drive an hour or more to work. Work for 12-14 hours. Drive home another hour tired as f**k. Hurry up get a bite to eat if needed, hop in shower, get in bed. And for me, I just couldn't fall asleep immediately after getting in bed. I needed at least an hour or so to play on my phone and decompress. Fall asleep, and then that alarm comes super quick after maybe 4-5 hours of sleep. Wake up feeling not rested at all, and do it all over again. So "family time" doesn't exist even tho you're in your bed each night. If you lived only a few miles from the yard, then it would make more sense. Or unless someone just doesn't need much sleep. But I know I like my sleep!!!!
@@Scott.Stanga I’m the same way. Need to decompress, sleeping 4-5 hours, then doing it again day after day. No family time at all. Saturday was “catch up on my sleep” day.
