Very beautiful presentation of reflections on the spiritual aspects that link us all in this country. Respectfully we as Sufis have no need to comment or observe the ways of those we don’t understand. The introspective practices in Islam can be found in many Eastern philosophies such as Vedanta, Taoism etc. The comment on the ‘meditatiors in Glastonbury’ somewhat sullies this, otherwise unifying, talk. As Sufis we have no idea what people intend in their hearts as only Allah (SWT) has this authority. It is not and never has been our place as Muslims to dismiss the practices of others. As Sufis, there is as can found, no ‘others’ only a Unity that exists deep within us all. It is clearly evident that the stone circles found in the U.K. Ireland and in other places have a similarity. As we know some of these sacred spaces predate the 7th Century and the birth of Modern Islam so perhaps we should be enjoying the concept of Unity rather than stamp an Islamic label on ways and rituals that we don’t understand? In any case we shouldn’t dismiss the history, practices and, more importantly, the intent of non- Muslims. If a crystal provides a reminder of a person’s spirituality and the concept of the ‘Sacred Goddess’ connects a person to respect for Women, then there is nothing with that for those individuals. We as Muslims also practice our own spirituality with Tasbih beads, often made out of crystals and by reflecting on Allah’s greatest name ‘Raheem’ which is another word for womb. Some say that the womb is connected to the Arsh as seen in ‘Ayatul Khursi’, again a clear evidence of the Sacred nature of women. As a Sufi Muslim who practices Muraqabah, I would like to meditate in Glastonbury in the interest of balance ad I previously went to the rather underwhelming festival which was definitely a ‘pilgrimage’ for Music Lovers and seekers of sorts. It was an interesting talk but personal reflection on these subjects. I pray we are all guided towards Unity and develop an acceptance of both ourselves and others until all the differences disappear one day. InshaAllah.

Amazed I went to check on maps but found that while the line from the Glastonbury Abbey and the Chalice Well is parallel to the Qibla, the Tor comes after the Chalice Well and also bears Northeast well away from the Qibla, contrary to what I understand Shaykh to be saying. Am I missing something?
