- A blistering guitar solo by Joel Hoekstra from the last show of the Whitesnake 2015 North American tour. Look for his new release "Dying To Live" available soon!!
In my 67 years of living, 54 of them playing lead guitar in pro and semi pro bands, I have never been so impressed with a guitarist as I am with Joel, absolute genius !
@Andy Butler listened to all of them but that doesn’t alter my opinion. Guitar playing is not a competition and no two guitarists in the world can play like each other. My opinion is as said, never been more impressed with another guitarist.
This is simply out of this world...the tone, the melody, the technique, you name it. He got everything 👍👍👍
one of the best solos I've heard .
The most professional looking rock guitar player I've ever seen.. very convincing.. the tone, the appearance.. wow
Love this guy! He makes it look so effortless!
There's no point to be in that kind of outfit if you can't play like that. What an amazing rockstar! Truly!
I've been hearing guitar solo's for a LONG time, since the 60's.I can't think of a more complete/better one than THIS!
Amazing ... best rock solo I've ever seen period. He did not innovate the styles he played but he mastered them with a level of dexterity and emotion which is very hard to do. He is an amazing guitar player
I'm pretty sure he did create or at least innovate his 8 finger tapping
Hoekstra is old enough to have soaked up every major rock guitar influence from the past, then polish and present flawlessly. But still a relatively young dude.Great guitarist. One of my absolute favorites of the past 30+ years.Love those two handed licks.
What's most amazing isn't the shredding, it's the soul, the bends, the vibrato (at 2:20) that really stand out to me. That and the ability to play so many styles so well and the whole musicality of his solo are what really make him phenomenal.
One of the new greats - we loved him when he came to the UK with Whitesnake; brilliant playing, great technique, strong interaction with the fans and he was clearly enjoying himself. His acoustic album "13 Acoustic Songs" is wonderful and shows how versatile he is. Come back to the UK soon Joel!
Absolute genius, his legato licks are next to non- Guitar Player Papua New guinea
His parents were classical musicians and Joel started on the cello and piano at a young age. Thank God he discovered the electric guitar. Check him out with TSO at Christmas...
Yes that's right!! he does play for
TSO
Aint no fuckin way that whole orchestra is trans
@@Rusciano5It's sad that ANYBODY'S"Trans"!
"Amazing Grace" in perfection, a world-class guitarist who shows once again that you have to learn your musical craft in hard hours of work, also through the classical field. It looks simple, but it isn't at all. Best regards, Horst Lemke, Music Producer & Studio Guitarist
This guy obviously had classical schooling and is not just a plain guitar rocker. He's top material.
Jean-Paul Haesen joel is at the very top!!!! Ive been playing lead guitar for 22yrs. Pretty hard to impress me cuz alot of players are shit live. But joel.... he NEVER makes a mistake!!! One of the most flawless guitarists ive ever seen. I would without a doubt put him as one of the best pound for pound guitarists walking the planet. Unbelievable what he can do and how clean his licks are!!
@@dawnoftheshred7757 this guy is on the same level as Kiko from Megadeth, what do you say?
@@an_38kitkashyap of course
joel is one of the best ever . he sounds like me
Sort of like the great Randy Rhoads. But Not quite as good or talented? Randy was like the Mozart of heavy metal. Listen to some of his solo's when he was playing with that drunken prick Ozzie. Mind numbing. He will school you.
One of my all time favorite guitarists for sure
He is so unbelievable and beautiful ❤
At last! A shredder with musical talent!
Gary Moore ..Michael Schenker ...
Randy..Ed...Neal Schon.
Looks like you missed the boat lol
@@adamwarlock5286 Ehhhhm Jason Becker...🤩👍🇳🇱
And Vinnie Moore
Impressive . Every dam note was so clean .
Nobody can play like Joel, He plays from the heart!!
That hybrid picking at 2:05 is very well done. Love Joel's playing style.
Wow this guy rocks more than a geologist
LOL good one mate!
Can I borrow that lol
His early classical piano and cello practice shines through Rock with passion and precision.
Doesn't get any better than that I'm so glad I grew up in the seventies. Joe smoked that guitar If you ever read this Joe flawless
Now THIS is a duder who knows what he’s doing. Amazing musicality and neo-classical playing.
Such a unique exquisite player. His chops are spot on and effort less. His note construction are well-conceived and no sign of flaws or weaknesses. AMAZING
Thanks to NAMM Show, I could finally meet this god and exchange few words. Such a big inspiration. I am speechless and emotional about this.
One of the best guitar solos ever...!
Absolutely brilliant. The technique, the feel, the execution...
Made all the better by the fact I stumbled upon it accidentally.
Awesome. 🙂👌
One of his first teachers was extraordinary TJ Helmerich... with whom he learned the technique of 8 fingers on the fretboard... Joel is amazing!!!
Honestly, not sure if I've seen or heard that kind of talent before.
This dudes Legendary!!!!
OMG! That was incredible!
why does whitesnake always have the most awesome guitarist?
No doubt about it, he's in a small group of very exclusive and talented guitarists. Joel Hoekstra is one of the best ... 🤘
Joel has got the goods for sure. I've talked to him in person a few times and he is a great guy.
+SIXSTRING63 i could tell that hes a great person just looking at him.. he always has nice manners when he talks and always has an ear to ear smile :) he just loves hes guitar and we love them both :)
+kimi kimster I would smile ear to ear too if I ever wuz a guitarist for effnn Whitesnake!
lol
+kimi kimster He reminds me of Randy. Randy never a bad word to say about anyone and lived to play guitar and make music.
Yes, he does a good job with those finger taps. I heard this solo one time briefly and decided that I had to search for it again to take a second listen and I am glad I found it. Very entertaining.
Killer melodic solo...i like it ;)
Wow, hoekstra and Beach in one band? These guys are going to set the record for most two hand taps at a rock concert.
JOEL!!!! JUST AMAZING!!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Yes you are right, a very nice man and great guitar player, also Reb of course...
That was bad ass ! Great to have him follow the great Doug aldrich
That level of talent is insane! Very impressive 🤘
Wow
Not on my radar
My new favorite shredder
And I wasn’t into shredding
Now I am
Tasteful classy melodic shredding with tons of emotion and feeling
True musician
The command presence of a guitar workhorses' workhorse firing on all cylinders. Deserves and earns every compliment and dollar he makes.
He plays in a so emotional way that in the middle of the solo he pulls a yeaaa!! Out of that les paul fretboard xD.
this was absolutely jaw- dropping
He throws some similar shapes to John Sykes......deja vu. Great player.
this guy is amazing !
Best guitar player in history Whitesnake
Wow, amazing...that finger tapping arpeggio part towards the end was fucking awesome...goosebumps material
Great guitarist. Respect
Brother, you have a unique way of playing which I've never seen before.
Какое высокое искусство!)❤❤❤
OMG, @JoelHoekstra13
Gonna miss you so much on the TSO winter tour this year!! N.I.C.E. vid!!
You're the man Joel! Love it!
3:20 gave me hardcore chills
This guy is insanely talented.. He’s got a little of the Yngwie “neo classical” thing going on. Super entertaining.
I love you,marvellous Joel!⚜💝⚜🍂🍁
There were a couple of riffs that I had in mind to show Joel but it looks like he might already know them. Oh well
Lol!
Great guitarist, kind of has the same presence as John Sykes!
Not even close to the same picking chops Sykes had. Not even close. He is a poor man's Jeff Watson.
@@UptempoMusicLessons this guy is more technical man.
I don't agree with you.
I agree Danny, not the same playing style so much as presence. Sykes is the man, but this guy is very very very good. Anyone thinks otherwise probably just wishes they were good enough to lick the sweat from .... well, you know what I mean. Joel is also the man.
@@chrispolasky Cheers David
"Amazing Grace" in Perfektion, ein Weltklasse Gitarrist, der einmal mehr zeigt, dass man sein musikalisches Handwerk in harter stundenlanger Arbeit, auch über den Klassikbereich erlernen muss. Es sieht einfach aus, ist es aber überhaupt nicht. Beste Grüße, Horst Lemke, Musikproduzent & Studiogitarrist
This solo is from another world, i wish joel was my guitar teacher lol
I was at this show in St Louis! Only two rows back from the stage, was BLOWN AWAY by this solo! The Duel between Joel and Reb was phenomenal!! One of the best concerts of the summer! Can't wait for the "Flesh and Blood" tour to see Whitesnake again!! 🤘🎸😎💜
Fantastic guitarist.saw Whitesnake in Oslo 2016. Unbelievable gig
Totally awesome, Joel is great
Holy Moley!!! Rocckiing!!!💯❤️😌SOOOO MUCH LOVE, BEAUTIFUL, JOEL!!
Joel is a great guitar player love him on tso tours
Соло высший пилотаж...супер.....
Monster Player! Incredible.
Fantastic player
Beautiful!
That was amazing!
Fantastic.
Those are some serious notes!!!
This guy rips. . .
+skok58 and has every metal pose down!!
That, too!
Amazing!!! 🔥🔥🔥
And that's why I love Joel Hoekstra!
Semplicemente Fantastica 🎸🎸🎸
I saw Joel play live with Night Ranger about a decade ago, and I can't think of a better guitar player to play Jeff Watson's guitar solos (given the 8 finger tapping stuff). He's amazing.
Супер! Завораживает! Огромное спасибо за публикацию!
It's been a long time since my interest in flashy shred had been reignated.
Joel's style is really super tasty.
Very exotic solo!
Joel is proof that anybody can be replaced. John who? I honestly think he's the best Whitesnake have ever had. He covers every style flawlessly, is every bit as good as the bigger names that came before and has a personality that allows him to stay and still shine.
I love what he does at 0:45 to 1:01
that along with what he does at 2:22 sounds a lot (composition and emotion wise) like the stuff Nuno Bettincourt used to play live.
delay pedal
There is alot of greats out there that don't get the recognition they deserve. Not enough anyway. Damn you Coverdale.
Rare & Raw Talent!!!
Sensational!!!!
Джоэл - не просто потрясающий гитарист. Он собрал в себе все лучшие традиции рока 80-х!
Un real…tasty , complex, it’s like perfection
Amazing…!!
Whitesnake always has the kick- ass guitarists!
John Sykes!
Badass guitarist with a killer tone
Cheers to that! Killer playing!
Amazing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
00:45 is just face melting!!!🤘☢🤘
that kicked ass
It looks like he's playing fingerstyle during the tapping parts.
+Christian Grimes It's a 8 finger tapping technique he mastered before joining Night Ranger emulating the style of Jeff Watson in that band. Met him at the XM studios in Washington DC for a Night Ranger broadcast. Really nice guy. Exchanged emails for a little while before their tour got so busy he really didn't have time to keep in touch with everyone. He had good advice and was a really great guy. Sort of what you see is how he is. Many may not know he toured with the "Rock of Ages" musical live, and the Trans Siberian Orchestra.
Jeez, that was amazing
always be my best guitar player idol,
Seen them at House of Blues in Boston A couple of years ago what a great concert both guitarist rocked.
Amazing Grace ...
It's so beautiful
So clean !
