I remember to see this solo in 2004 and the first time i see the solo i stay in silence, Just silence... Its the most powerful mix of speed, thecnique and blues solo i ever see in my life. Its impressive. No words...
I love him, because he loved Gary and obviously Randy too. Both you can hear in this soloing as if they where alive. This "painful" and skilled guitar playing was always, what caused me cold shivers running down my back and feeding my soul with light!
Thank you brother for saying this. I just learned about Doug , and loved him. Also knowing about Doug's love to Gary Moore impressed me so much, because Gary Moore is one of the top best guitarist mine with Slash, EVH, Randy Rhoads and others.
From 1:19 You can hear that so familiar Whitesnake ambience like "Is this Love". I like to sit in my music room really low light and listen to them or run through ...LOL the progressions myself which probably sounds like it to just me...haha Road many miles on the backroads listening to this music in the 80's
ABSOLUTELY !!! I've Been Waiting For SYKES Sy-Ops To Come Out For Years Now !!! FINALLY Some Of It Has Been Trickling Out On UA-cam Teasing A Release Date Of 12/24
Either way he’s one good guitar player that doesn’t hold back or gets drunk on the night of the show to the point where the performance is trash. I’m looking at you jimmy page while I make that statement
From 2:45 and on was definitely my favorite, slow and bluesy. I had smoked before listening to this and almost had a panic attack cause I guess my brain was enjoying this solo so much. Question to anyone who is a musician here, he was using the pentatonic scale in different figures and tones correct? Ive been playing the guitar for 10 years I know how to play well just not very familiar with tones or name of notes haha
@@ManLike_T Les Paul with hus signature Suhr Pickups, modded Marshall amps cranked pretty loud probably, overdrive pedals and some delay. And of course his fingers. Check out his solo live in Sydney with Whitesnake - it’s somewhere here on yt.
The chords at the start are BFlat to F to G. And the start of the solo is in g, but he changes it to D and just kind of jumps around from different chords but the start is Key Of G Then D and then he goes to f sharp in the slower section I think. when he turns his volume down some. Hope this helped
I've listened to this solo for 1000 times and I still love it. What a superb guitar player you are, Doug!!!
Doug is so underrated as a guitarist. And he's one of the best players out there!!!!!

I wonder how he would of sounded with Ozzy?
Ozzy would've fired hiim for being to good.
Like a Randy Rhoads 2.0 but more technical.
I think Doug is good but compared to randy he’s not great
He doesn't have Ozzy chops..he is not melodic enough for Ozzy
