3:11 fun fact: it actually was. Let me explain: so when I was like 6 years old (10 yrs ago) we actually had that First Alert (the one with the filled circle in the middle surrounded by that grill looking section) and I only heard it go off once, and idk why but I named the one we had in the attic (this one had its cover off for quite a long time) mr smoke alarm… idk why lmao call me crazy idc I was smol boi back then Edit: I live in the Netherlands and at the time there was no mandatory for smoke alarms at the time so yea And btw our neighbours at the time had even older smoke alarms, cuz their house was like built in the 70/80’s and they kept the original smoke alarms that were installed
Vintage collectors shouldn’t destroy modern smoke alarms. I know they look cool and all but if you bought the alarm just to smash it, then that’s wasting your money! 😠
I’m a commercial fire alarm enthusiast and I also enjoy both vintage and modern. I am also into security, home alarms, emergency lights, fire suppression(agent systems, sprinklers, extinguishers, and hydrants), just not nearly as much.
Interesting video! I've happened to have come across some rare units myself. My house used to have 2 FX104 alarms. Those suckers were 30 years old and STILL worked, but one had a busted test button. Both were replaced. I regret throwing them away now, as they were cool and still loud as hell. There was also a BRK FACO carbon monoxide alarm too, unfortunately the battery drawer broke, so we had to toss it(wish i kept it though). Also, my grandparents used to have to have a sears "early one" 9-57002 smoke alarm, which to my knowledge are VERY RARE. Wish i got it from them, really kicking myself for that.
@@Photoelectric_Elevators seems like i wasn't far off. Also i didn't think the FX104s were that rare, but thinking back, I only remember seeing maybe 4 besides my old ones lol.
Brilliant video! I did really enjoy this, and have learned quite alot more about rarety of smoke alarms and was also very descriptive. I do own a quite alot of alarms myself within my own collection like for example the FireX FADC230, Family Gard, and a First Alert SA150CEGN but as a UK collector getting hold of these rare alarms are alot more harder to get hold due to a fair amount being non-existent here and also very expensive shipping prices for ones in the states. While alarms in the 'ultra rare' category are basically impossible to get unless if I'm willing to pay more than £100 in shipping to get one here 😂 Even so keep up the good work and I'd love to see more videos like this in the future! :)
We have a Nortron rebrand of a FireX FX1218 type or style installed in our basement on the original hardwire system, it doesn't work anymore which is sad.. but I've never seen another like it, it has a brass squealer too
My grandmother has a 6 bed 3 bath house and every room except bathrooms and they had smoke sirens in them …but they are replacing them next week with the [PLEasE sEe MaNUels]
Nortron TR77 or TRBB at 0:36. I would love to know where that was. Somewhere in Canada likely. If found in the US that would be extrremely rare. I have yet to see one pop up on Ebay as I got my TR88 new and never used in box at a second hand shop. I will say one thing I am all for the vintage 1970s detectors. Ones of today don't even compare. Very cool video as well!!
Great vid! However, I do not believe TC49As started fires, on the picture, notice how the grey stuff is only near the sensor. It's just dust sticking to the wall due to the higher amount of radiation, the early Honeywell detectors had a much larger amount of Americium.
Those I found out a while ago. When Adam found it he saw a document of one that had Dicon. I did not catch the Norelco models yet when I made this video along with a lot of other models like the Dong Bang, Hochiki, Ademco, etc.
I own an unbranded DT-100 Carbon Monoxide alarm from my NEIGHBORS HOUSE who has a first gen SA67D, a bunch of Detech alarms, and 2 Kidde 0914s from 1998 and a Family Gard
And yes while I’m mainly in the Vintage community I do appreciate the modern units, at least the less common ones and the ones not hated by everyone like the 900🤤⬛️⬛️⬛️.
Kidde nowadays suck with all the horrible units and recalls. First Alert never did us that dirty. Even X-Sense and Siterwell are not as bad when you include their entire lineup.
I’m surprised the BRK CO5120B CO alarm was listed in the ultra rare category at the 9:30 time mark instead of the nearly extinct stuff. The only one of those I have seen other than in this video is the one I have in my collection lol
Oh yeah if you wanna know the types first one one use multi station firex hardwire version then battery backup hard wired firex 2:37 looks like that and then a kidde dual sensor photoelectric and ionization sorry if i called it wrong im new to collecting
Hi! I am asking for assistance identifying an alarm which I believe may hold some rarity- it looks IDENTICAL to the masterguard fire alarm- (There is one shown on S.E.R Safety that is the master guard one) the only difference is that on the sticker, it has a logo that says "Responsive" (the logo is in orange and the "o" is in the shape of the earth) its from 1988- do you have any clue why it has a different logo or anything about it? I cannot find a single trace of the brand "responsive" existing anywhere on the internet.
lots of valid information here. One thing I'd mention is the Dong Bang DB-SSA-77A, which is probably the rarest battery operated model to exist.
This is by far one of your greatest videos of all time. So much hard work put in!
7:31 i’m gonna be getting one of these

is no one gonna talk about the image near the end of the video of a dude pressing on the center of the 86rac but not the actual test button?
This is a really good video. It will definitely help out newer collectors and for deciding rarity’s on alarms. Good job, keep up the good work!
Thank you
Now i know what to collect now,
Thx for saying all the old alarms that are rare.

Also very descriptive. You rocked this video. You should do more stuff like this
Nice video dude i have 3 smoke alarms
The fact you added like a star as thr ss718 music earns you a like.

bruhhh lol. Yea 9-57002’s are probably in the Ultra Rare category in my terms. FX1014’s are also pretty rare too.

That norton... the address was above the screen lol. Thank you
That sears that was worth 100 dollars starting bid gives me an aneurysm.
10:41 ah ha ha ha photo bomb of a Bosch. Uh….. D7050?
Very nice video! It's cool to see that you had the odds of using a script. You did good in this video and I do agree with a lot of your picks.

It's just dust sticking to the wall due to the higher amount of radiation, the early Honeywell detectors had a much larger amount of Americium.
I didn't believe that either. That's why I stated that with question...
Actually the Prototype 350 is actually made by Norelco!

are nutone s-180s considered rare??
I do have 2 BRK 83R smoke detectors (they were made in 2002
very detailed video

Sa150lt? Easy to find? I have not seen one on eBay for my whole life. Until last month. I snatched it up before anyone else could grab it.
ebay is a lot different. 86RAC's are most impossible. SA150LT's pop up every so often. Also golden test button right?
@@Photoelectric_Elevators yeah
How rare would the kidde home hero and the kidde rf-snd be?
Homehero's are ultra rare
RF-SND's are nearly extinct

3:56 11:58 pov when you actually find a nearly extinct smoke alarm (brk ss74r) 6:51 what the fluff is that background music!?
modern simplified logos make everything ugly tbh, btw great video keep it up
Very well said and informative. As a beginner in the community, this video will definitely help me with my future acquisitions.

There's a smokegard 907a2 at my grandmas friends house I'm gonna remove
Can I call dibs on it?
@@Photoelectric_Elevators I'm not sure if I'm gonna sell it or keep it I'm considering keep it sorry

What is a good smoke alarm server

Sounds like some rebrand of an Masterguard MGB-380. May hold a decent level of rarity.
@@Photoelectric_Elevators Oh, cool.
What the hell there are actually enthusiastic about fire alarms
Does anybody know if the EMDEKO heat detection device is uncommon or not
6:44 what he looks like
what's the rarity of my Kidde i9040
Is my ten-tek il930 rare
Hmm. I'm not familiar with that model. It may be.

I'd figure you'd use one of my tynix songs lol
well they really good…

We used to have a 8201-301
Hearing that smoke alarm go off hurt my ears and I would usually go outside if it went off
i use to have a crusty dusty family gard
Are you from Utah? I see a LOT of Utahn houses.
