I was able to catch a sale on the elite FTS SSB for 350$ plus shipping. It’s the most I’ve ever spent on any barbell in my garage gym. Worth every cent. Had it for a year, just some cosmetic wear on the sleeves. I dodged buying the v1 Titan Fitness one they used to sell for 149$ bc I watched a YT review saying do not buy this bar 😂
Seems they don't run sales as often (or as good) anymore. I got mine for $300 shipped, but they did just have a big sale on it. Unfortunately right when i made the video they jacked it back up to over 400 lol

I just bought an MD Buddy squat bar...because it was cheap, and it was available locally (i.e. no huge shipping charge). I have quite a bit of home gym equipment already, but I can't justify spending half what I spent on ALL my equipment together on a single bar. The 'good' bars aren't just a bit more, they are 4 to 10 times more than the $199 CAD I paid for this bar. Now, I'm well past my 'show off to my high school buddies' days (just turned 50) so I'm not going to be loading it up with weight. If I was going to load a ton of weight on it, I may consider a better bar, but I would probably rather just get a gym membership again if I cared that much.
I know Titan gets bashed but their V2 SSB really is a great bar. I've been using mine for about 6 months now and it's great. In fact, since I work out in my low ceiling basement I also use the Titan for my overhead presses. Works great for that as well. In case anyone is wondering about its tolerances I do use competition bumpers on the Titan and they fit perfectly.
I wanted the Titan V2 but they don't ship to Canada. So I ended up with the Bells of Steel SSB. Couple downsides is it doesn't fit properly on my Rogue Squat rack and the pad is 3 separate pieces, but the price was right!
Funny timing as i just used my new Titan SSB V2 for the time this AM ha. its nice that normal collars work on it whereas I dont believe all do on the eliteFTS
Local gym has eliteFTS SSB and I love it. When I do a home gym I’ll spend the money on it. Any chance you’ll review the new EliteFTS power bar they just came out with?
I just received the efts power bar. So far it is awesome. Very similar in comparison to the Kabuki bar, but the knurling is just slightly less aggressive it seems. The extra spacing is a great addition. Really helps with setting up on the bench press, or other accessory movements. Also it has a very light whip action. So it's not going to move on you, and displace your balance when squatting and benching. It's worth the purchase.
The Titan ssb bar pads break down fairly fast. We bought one for the gym about 2 months ago, and already returned it. I have several efts ssb bars that are a few years old, and the pads are still in fair condition.
Brandon Campbell Diamond whys that? Do they get too whippy for your liking or what? Just curious, I have fairly small hands so I tend to like the thinner bars

I bought the Titan SSB and really like it. It is a bit wider, but fits me well. I can even use it without holding the handles as it is really stable, which is great. Cost wise it was the best move as I didn't want to sink 400+ as you pointed out, into a specialty bar. (So of course I took the money I saved and bought a fat axle bar, oh well).
I've owned the rogue and the kabuki transformer. Sold both and went with the elite FTS bar. Rogue the pad was garbage. Kabuki I really didn't like the longer handles and the bar had alot of whip at 400+ lbs.
Ik I’m late to watching this but I was looking at the xm fitness ssb on the treadmill factory and it says the handles are 14inchs apart. Is that too far apart?
Hey, how much is the angle of the handles to the camber? I've got the Strengthshop one, which on first look looks like a direct copy of the ATX, the angle is 45 degrees however which is nearly double of the elitefts & titan. I fear I'm potentially missing out on some benefits of the SSB
@@yeahyeah3257 The Kabuiki is nice, but I think the price point still will be a turn off for most depending on what you plan on using it for. You can get a good SSB for

It depends, some of their newer stuff is good (SSB, Reverse Hyper), but other stuff not so much. I'll be doing a review on their new Olympic bar shortly and I wouldn't recommend it!
Riot SSB from Strength Shop is the best value. $265, perfect camber angle and 2inch diamater bar all along reduces whip and makes it perfect for Zercher squats too. Only downside compared to the $400+ Elitfts is the three padding segments aren't stitched together and are velcro.
@@BasementBrandon I've never used the Titan SSB actually, but I prefer the larger offset angle that the Riot bar offers, I feel the bar isn't running away from me as much as the smaller offset angle SSB's. Whip is almost certainly less on the Riot bar too, due to the thicker 2inch bar although this probably isn't that noticeable as SSB Squats aren't typically as heavy. The handles can also be screwed loose (with a shit ton of effort) enabling the thick diameter bar to double as an axle bar (albeit with no knurling). Just figured this may be an alternative which many people may have not come across.
Additionally kabuki isn’t real ever meant for someone looking at the “value” they are specialty bars with durability and in this case functionality and versatility. Most people don’t need it.

I purchased the Titan bar, but it feels 100 pounds heavier when doing squats than the normal bars. Why do you think this is?
Different weight distribution (more in the front) and also harder to stay tight in your upper back IMO
Did you buy the new version?
Which version?
Thoughts on the edge fitness systems ssb? Believe price is 250?
it's ok, I don't like the separate pads and for $50 less you get a better bar with Titan V2 IMO
I bought a ader safety squat bar I really like it paid 300 bucks for it Amazon
Nice!
Just bought the Kabuki this week.
nice!
The Gopher safety squat bar looks interesting
It's similar to the one I say to avoid, just different padding.
If you love the SSB try the Marrs Bar
Def looks interesting!
I've owned the rogue and the kabuki transformer. Sold both and went with the elite FTS bar. Rogue the pad was garbage. Kabuki I really didn't like the longer handles and the bar had alot of whip at 400+ lbs.
Also have you tried the new titan? It looks exactly like the Elite FTS but from what I've seen their stuff is usually alot lower quality
appreciate the feedback!
lanidrac its a clone, not great padding but for $200 is a good deal
Have you tried a Marrs Bar in your travels?
haven't but would like to!
Hi I see that you respond to all the recent comments, Do you know where I can find Safety Squat Bar pads? I have been searching alot online, thanks.
Which ones?
@@BasementBrandon Nothern Lights safety squat bar
that looks like the design I talk about here. not sure who would make pads for that however :(
i use pipe insulation, works pretty well and cheap
Well fuck, I bought the bells of steel ssb 2 months ago. This video makes me a sad panda. Oh well, I have lived and learned.
Damn, sorry :( I told them they should change it
What about the Kabuki or Marrs bar?
Kabuki is prob the most versatile, but it's pricey. Don't have any first hand experience with Marrs.
Wish Matt Wenning would produce his SSB bar.
Does he have a custom one? I thought he just had one with chain handles.
Yeah that’s the one. I haven’t seen it for sale on his website though, just his cambered bar.
Right on! Right on! Thanks, man!
Thanks for watching!
Brandon Campbell Diamond Thank you!
I have this cheaper ssb and have no problems with it
It's crap.
@@BasementBrandon you're wrong
@@ImOnlySIeeping Not really. I've owned several SSBs and this one is one of the worst.
Ik I’m late to watching this but I was looking at the xm fitness ssb on the treadmill factory and it says the handles are 14inchs apart. Is that too far apart?
IMO yes.
@@BasementBrandon thx for the response
The ATX SSB is great.
Yep, I agree. I use it often.
@@retepsualk4609 The camber is shorter on the ATX, but almost the same angle.
Have heard some good things about ATX
@@BasementBrandon It's a great brand. They have some very nice barbells that are still affordable. Quality of the racks is also great.
How wide should it be from pad to pad for a slim person
11 inches ?
I'd say 12" or less
From one bald beardy guy to another, you know your shit.
Invaluable channel for home gymmers.
Thanks Robert. More power to the chrome domes.
Excellent and informative video!
Thanks for taking the time to watch!
I like my ATX SSB is good for the price and has a good design.
Few others have said this as well!
Kabuki Strength Transformer Bar is the BEST bar to get, in case anyone was wondering.
I think I could make a good argument as to why it's not.
@@BasementBrandon what's your argument against it being the best?
@@TonyNovation Padding is not as good as some of the other bars and price point.
@@BasementBrandon is this for v4 or older TB? Wondering because I'm debating between purchasing the TB, Marrs Bar or Titan Ssb.
@@yeahyeah3257 The Kabuiki is nice, but I think the price point still will be a turn off for most depending on what you plan on using it for. You can get a good SSB for
Just to be clear about what you're talking about I'm this video, is this the Titan SSB or the Bells Of Steel SSB?
Both kind of, do not buy the Titan SSB V1 (the V2 is out now and does not have the issues I show here).
Has anyone seen the Gopher Fitness SSB? The padding looks amazing, it's all one solid piece.
I'm curious if it's more of a piece of plastic vs a pad.
The camber is not right on that bar. They are in line with the handles which you do not want...why do manufacturers keep doing this???
Brandon Campbell Diamond it’s plastic my golds gym bought it, it’s so so
@@nicholaskmurphy so it's not foam padding? That seems weird
I've really seen a change in their product quality. There like the trolls of fitness equipment...lol..."Rogue, go ahead and make something, we'll make it too...just as good, but charge half the price".....lol
It depends, some of their newer stuff is good (SSB, Reverse Hyper), but other stuff not so much. I'll be doing a review on their new Olympic bar shortly and I wouldn't recommend it!
Brandon Campbell Diamond ok, cool. I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts.....I’ve seen Coops garage gym review.....which he spoke favorably.
JustTraining yeah I got the short end of the stick. He got the power bar and I got the regular Olympic one lol
Does anyone know if the Titan SSB V2 fits calibrated plates?
It should, but only basing that off what I've heard.
Riot SSB from Strength Shop is the best value. $265, perfect camber angle and 2inch diamater bar all along reduces whip and makes it perfect for Zercher squats too. Only downside compared to the $400+ Elitfts is the three padding segments aren't stitched together and are velcro.
Titan SSB def the best buy. $200 shipped and an Elite clone!
Buy an Elite FTS SSB and never look back. You won't have any regrets
I tend to agree
Nice informative video
Thanks man!
Thank you
Welcome!
Crepinsek SSB, don't bother with anything else.
I agree they're nice, I think I'd still rather go Elite at the price point however.
@@BasementBrandon I've had my Crepinsek for almost 30 years (that's pre-internet). Still perfect.
Kabuki is the best available
I think functionality-wise for sure, but at $700 I don't know if it makes a strong argument vs a $300 SSB.
Brandon Campbell Diamond I guess it’s how you quantify cost. Easy one for me beings I want just one for life.
Additionally kabuki isn’t real ever meant for someone looking at the “value” they are specialty bars with durability and in this case functionality and versatility. Most people don’t need it.
We have one at my gym and I used it once and it’s fucking trash and half
which one?
This is borderline ASMR
Bringing you the sexy sounds in my blue basement
As always, important to note that EliteFTS is made in USA and Titan is made in China
True
This dude looks like all he does is body weight workouts. To tiny for plate weight sessions. Probably a vegetarian too
