In today's video, I review the Marrs-Barr Specialty Barbell. The Marrs-Bar is a safety squat bar with a unique camber and harness system that makes it feel different from any other specialty barbell I've ever used. The Marrs-Bar is a very expensive bar, but after using it for back squats, front squats, good mornings, lunges, and other exercise movements, I will say that it's replaced the SSB in my training. I do think it's a bit too expensive to recommend for most people, but, based solely on how it feels and performs, I think it's a fantastic bar.

I bought two of these it’s a great bar way better than a ssb. I have a bad shoulder and have been using a SSB and when your weights get up around 400 lbs it’s really strains your neck.
The Marrs bar is super comfortable at those weight and probably much higher
Good company to deal with I had trouble with the stupid trucking company and these owners of the company got personally involved and really worked hard to get it straightened out

I just discovered your channel. Thank goodness! I have done low back squats for 30 years at 405 but I suffered from frozen shoulder and had to quit squats. The leg press just wrecks my knees and compresses my lower back. I thought I'd never get to squats but the Marrs Bar really gives me hope. Ordered one 15 minutes after watching your video. Thank you

    • @teekue
      @teekue 4 роки тому +2

ATX is EU only I think, so Coop probably can't do reviews of the ATX equipment. That being said ATX quality is fine, some of their racks especially their higher end are straight copies of the rogue racks but more affordable. The lower end racks are just rebranded copies that other stores sell as well. The bars are quite nice too but bear in mind that they are all manufactured in China so you will have a few minor quality setbacks compared to say Eleiko or Rogue bars. Bang for buck you will most certainly get very solid equipment though.

Rippetoe has a method that doesn’t benefit from specialty bars. You don’t build a novice’s squat with the SSB and you don’t improve a novice’s deadlift with a trap bar.

Stupid question: How would you bail on this bar, or on a safety squat bar? Do you ride it all the way down? I squat with a Ohio bar and I drop it off my back and walk away.

Haven't failed a lift with my Vulcan SSB (haven't had it long) but I'd imagine you just raise the handles. Not sure that would work here with the curved angle of the handles though.

I thought it would flip up when you de-loaded one side. But then, I haven't used any kind of SSB yet, so not familiar with how they react.

They’re very heavy, plus his rack is pretty bulky so less rotation regardless of weight.

One question please if someone can clarify. Say with same weights (75 kg plates as example), which one is easier to squat? Marrs bar or SSB?

Titan fitness really needs to make a replica and sell it for like $250. I’d buy it in a heart beat. Can’t justify spending 600 on a bar though

I can. To save my shoulders and biceps. Those are worth more than $600

Ah yes I’ve played this game you speak of. I accidentally dropped 2 45lb plates off the squat rack in a public gym. I figured I would retire on a win after that.

Random guy with no profile picture here, how’s it going? I have a genuine comment regarding your filming & editing: lately the b-roll in your videos has been weird; it’s inserted at times where you’re explaining something & pointing at a specific aspect of the item, which should be showed to viewers, which is odd. B-roll should be played either when there is no dialogue (between different topics), or at times where you’re speaking about something that doesn’t need the viewer to visualize what you’re trying to explain (or you can use b-roll to demonstrate/focus on what you’re explaining, also).
Just thought I’d give some constructive criticism that may have not been brought to your attention. You’re videos have always been great btw.

I don't see myself ever using one. Maybe for fun on a deload?
Anyway, the best marketing the manufacturer could do is get an endorsement from Louie Simmons. Every conjugate gym would immediately get one.

Got so tired of seeing their ads on Instagram I had to block their page lol...low bar squats are ugly af I will stick to the regular elitefts safety squat bar personally. Thanks for another great review Coop!!
