I have very sensitive skin also, so I need slick soap. Can you do top 10 slickest soaps ?
I can do that! Great idea
Great . Looking for to that !
The factory in Israel is operated by Edgewell Personal Care, a division of Energizer which owns the Personna trademark along with Schick and Wilkinson Sword . The Virginia factory was Personna Industrial Products Division which was sold in 2015 to private investors and is now AccuTec Blades. They produce all the Industrial, Medical and Barber/Beauty blades there also using the Personna brand name. The American Safety Razor Co. doesn't exist anymore since Energizer bought it out of bankruptcy in 2011 and spun off all the personal care products into Edgewell Personal Care in 2015.
Great video Nick! Super excited to see you using Wolfpac, we have some great artisan soap makers here in Australia at the moment and Wolfpac is amongst my favorite. Have a great week, cheers👍
I'll take a look at Peters! Its great to see artisan soaps coming out of Australia. I am totally impressed with Wolfpac
nick shaves
Washpool farm shaving soap is also an awesome soap from Australia. i have them all and the bergamot, cedar, patchouli scent is mind-blowing!
He's alive!
Hi Douglas!
Hi Nick
What would you say is the slickest soap and cream that you have used?
Greetings from Canada
Hi Nick. Really enjoy the videos. Would you recommend using shave oil as a base prior to using shave cream? Thanks
I wanted to order the Wolfpac soap, but noticed it's $20 AU plus $16.50 for shipping. Pretty pricey. Is it worth it?
My girlfriend keeps requesting a topless shave or chest shave video.
Hi Nick! Have you tried out the Gillette Nacet blade? Since you like sharp, smooth blades I think you would really enjoy them. They are really cheap on Italian Barber.
Nick - Could you do a video with the Zenith boar brush and either a B&M or Fine Soap with the 6C? I too have hard water and have experienced some great shaves using this combination.
Personna Reds are in my top five. Just did a shave with one in my SuperSpeed Flare tip and it was exceptionally smooth and close
Good shave video nick I am just getting into shaving and I use barbrasol and a cartridge razor but I am really interested into getting into wet shaving soon.
I use shaving cream and a brush opposed to a shaving soap. What are the differences? Im interested in trying a soap but not sure if they are really the same
Great video as usual. Question, is the stainless steel razor heavier than the chrome one or are same basically the same? Thanks
Never thought I'd be sitting for 5 minutes watching another man shaving his face. 😆 Now I think I've seen every video you've made, because I'm learning so much! I use the same principals for my headshaving, because of you I don't think I had one razorburn or ingrown hair since I started couole of years ago 😊 Well probably, but it's been to a minimum! Thanks Nick, keep'em coming!!
Can you do the next shave with r6 setting
Glad to see you again. Hope this means you are settling in well after the move. Speaking of Personna Red from Israel, (in reference to 'I'd Lather Be Shaving' ep. 29) how do you think these compare to the Israeli made 'Drugstore' blades?
same blade
You live in Boston MA still? Head down to Raynham Massachusetts to the Raynham Flea Market. I run a business there, Fifty Shaves, and I carry pretty close to a complete line of Italian Barber / Razor Rock products. We also carry Parker products as well as a variety of razor brands.
Really?! Thats awesome. I am still in the area. I will try head down some time and do a video
Hey Nick! The 10066 is a fantastic brush, I like the framed picture. Wolfpack looks like a winner.
+Kerry Kerr it's a great brush! Cheap and performs great
My bet: Rockwell 6C - Nick's safety razor of the year, Personna reds - blade of the year
This may be correct...
How can you compare these Personna Reds with the Personna Lab Blues?
Relatively new to the channel but love the videos and reviews. If you haven't already, you should do a video showcasing some the Fine shave soaps, super slick with incredible scents across the board.
I haven't yet! I have 2 of their soaps and love them, just haven't made a video
Great video. I live in the northeast and several grocery stores and pharmacies sell generic blades that are made by Personna. Shop Rite sells some under their name that are made in Israel. But, the blades look different than the Personna Reds you used in this video and they come in a slide dispenser. Do you know if they are in fact the same blades? Thanks.
yes theyre the same
Nice to see you getting somewhat back on track after the move Nick. Hope the videos will be more on schedule now. Nice shave by the way. Hot here in NM.
Thanks man! I am planning to get back to making more regular videos now
Between the Merkur 34c and the Rockwell 6c, which do you like the best?
Thats a tough call. When it comes down to it, at this point, the 34c. But I will be using the Rockwell more, and that could maybe change
Great video! greetings from Puerto Rico!
+José Medina thanks man! And thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate the support
Hi Nick. Real nice shave. Was wondering, would you say the Personna reds were sharper or about the same as the lab blues. The lab blues are my go to blades. Thank you.
I think that the reds are sharper! I love the blues, they have always been my favorite, but I plan to shave more with the reds - these really could become my new top blade
I forgot to ask.... what software do you use on videos? I started making my own, but they are a bit long and looking for ways to trim them a bit and looking for suggestions. Thanks again!
I just use iMovie - it has plenty of options to make editing easy, yet still customizable
nick shaves Thanks for the reply Nick, really appreciate it. I don't use Apple, so gonna keep looking, lol
Keep it up! Happy to report I still use a DE razor, the trusty Merkur 34C. I experimented with blades for a bit at the start, but I think I've settled into the Astra Superior Platinum blades. I would like to change up the soap/cream though. Currently using Proraso, but any recommendations?
Oh man! So many great soaps out there, Barrister and Mann, Catie's Bubbles, Phoenix, Stirling, RazoRock, Reef Point Soaps - any of these (and more!) are amazing soaps. Honestly, I would choose between them based on what scent you like
Just my humble opinion; but you can't recommend shaving soaps without mentioning Soap Commander. Absolutely fantastic, and great people too! Nick, how about Cold River Soap Works? I am looking to try one of theirs...
mkostrub Check out Soap Commander soaps, too. One of my favorites.
Hey Nick! Great to see another video, really look forward to all of your videos. I've learned a lot from them. It was cool to see you bust out that old omega, hehe. It has been a while. I have the 6S and it has become my absolute favorite razor. Hope work is going well for you.
Thanks man! I am glad the videos have been helpful. I love this brush, I may be using it more...
I recently put a reply on one of your older videos, best beginner brush. I noted how awesome the omega 10066 is; I have some of the higher end brushes you have such as the Semogue 830 and the Semogue Owners Club Badger brush, but still keep going to my Omega 10066 more often than not. Great videos, very helpful and whenever I'm curious about a new shave product I look to see if you have reviewed it as I have come to value your opinion on wet shaving gear.
Great video as always Nick.
Thanks man! I appreciate the views and comments
So glad to see you back Nick!
Thanks man! Appreciate the support
Good to see you back man! Before you shaved(while lathering), you were very informative about the makes and models and how makes and models are named. Excellent video per usual! Try not to keep your videos so far apart!
I really like the Wolfpac Sublime which has a strong lime, basil, and rosemary scent. Personna Reds have been my #1 favorite blade since I started over 2 years ago. I have both the 6S and 6C and prefer the quality and weight of the stainless steel 6S. I have it with Rhodium plating from Razor Emporium so probably the real reason why I prefer it and the slickness. :-) Cheers, Mark
I absolutely love the Rockwell 6C. I got the gunmetal finish! Had an awesome shave this morning. About 3 days growth and used the #4 guard on the 1st pass with the Rockwell razor provided. Then the #2 guard for a 2nd pass. No cleanup needed. My skin is actually clearing up and I have less razor bumps/burn after using it.
Great video, Nick! I agree with your statement about chrome vs. stainless steel razors. I feel like razors made from chrome glide more easily over your skin.
Also, that Wolfpac shaving soap just sounds awesome!
REQUEST:
It would be nice to see you use CaD again. It's one of my favourite shaving soaps and the first PAA soap I ever bought.
Good to see you back at it Nick! Thanks for the review but have already discovered Persona Israeli's which now are my go to blades. Have you tried Pacific Shaving Co's Caffeinated shaving cream? Have had some amazing shaves with it.
Keep the videos coming Nick! You got me into safety razor shaving and I've never looked back!
I don't know if you do this already, but you should definitely look into affiliate links for the products you use. I have bought TONS of stuff based on your recommendations and good advice.
Thanks for another great video Nick ! As always very entertaining, informative and professional. CHEERS!
Glad to see you posting videos again! I'd love to see you try out a Chiseled Face soap like Cryogen or Trade Winds. Keep making awesome videos!
Always fun and illustrative to watch your videos and see you try out new products. I did learn the first steps to wet shaving watching your earlier videos.
Hello Nick, could you compare the blue from the red personna blades. Good to see you back!
Hi Nick! Time to get back to the straight razor - you gotta keep at it. Hope all is well over your way....
One reason your videos are so popular is that you do a great job of talking through the process of what you're doing. Keep it up!
Welcome back man
Thanks! I appreciate the support/views/comments
I shave and then have my shower. I like washing off the lather left over in the shower. Is that not good?
Hey Nick good to see you again. Thank you for the review
I prefer chrome as well. Great shave Nick!
Whats the different for Personna Red vs Blue ??
+Aron Muñoz blues are made in the US, reds are made in Israel, same company owns both. The reds are sharper
nick shaves
i would agree, the Reds are sharper and better overall.
Is it also smoother ?
Aron Muñoz
From my experience, the Reds are another and sharper. Overall, a much nicer blade. I personally couldn't use lab blues due to it but being sharp enough.
Great shave, great video!
Really hope you will be able to try out Reuzel shaving cream and aftershave.
Thanks man! It's on my list
Another great shave Nick! I want to thank you for all the shaving tips and introducing me to a variety of shave soaps. So many options makes it a tough choice. Have you tried the A & E soap?
I haven't yet. I have a puck of it, I will be using it in a video coming up
Another great video, Nick! Yours are my favorite shave videos on UA-cam.
Thanks! I really do appreciate that
Strong shave Nick! _Thanks for the volg._
I may have to purchase some of those *Personna Reds*. I’m always looking for sharp, smooth, blades that are reasonably priced.
Thanks as always for the video. Personally, I find the scent of the Captain's Choice Sandalwood disappointing compared to their other options.
