@@RivianDad Its still in infancy here in Indonesia, govt just recently subsidized electric car and motorcycle ownership. Electric motorcycle are entering probably its fourth or fifth years, but still not much development in tech and infrastructure. While car still entering its second year. Outside of capital city of Jakarta, charger station only available in our state owned electric company regional office ,that means there is only one charger station for each region which isnt much at all. In the capital are better I supposed, many franchised convenience store also provide charger station there.
This is great news. I have a road trip to Iowa in July, and I'm probably going to take my Model Y instead of my R1T because I'm worried about charging hassles. I wish I could get a NACS adapter now!
I can see the reasoning with this choice, I will say, though that the charging network is good enough for a road trip in a Rivian. It’s just that there’s more risk. But it is sufficient in my experience with some extra planning and some backup options.
We will have to see how many people decide to delay their purchase until the NACS models are available. The adapter is great for those who already own a CCS truck, but to me it doesn't make sense to buy a new truck with the charger port everybody is running away from.
Yeah. To me, there’s a huge parallel with lightning versus USB-C connectors. Probably a lot of people are waiting to upgrade their phones until they include usb-c
Thank you for the video - well done! I have an R1S reservation and am interested in the Rivian charging network. Do you have a link to the Rivian charging network map referenced in your video?
@Rivian Dad or anybody else - Do we know yet if and when Rivian will be providing the NACS/CCS adapter to current Rivian owners (w/ CCS ports)? Heard some rumors it would be free but I some how doubt it, so do we have any idea the cost of one? I already have a Tesla to CCS adapter for AC charging and it wasn't cheap.
@@RivianDad - Thanks, no worries. Just thought I would ask since some time (6+ months) has gone by since the announcement. I'm hoping 3rd party providers can and will provide the adapter. Based on what I've seen with Rivian pricing for accessories, it won't be cheap. Here's hoping it's either free from Rivian (which I doubt) or at least at a discounted price only available for current R1 owners. 🤞
@@chuckm260 there are aftermarket versions for sale now for under $100 although I’m not sure if they will handle the full wattage. Just check Amazon for ccs to NACS adapter.
@@RivianDad I think you're confused on what's available today on Amazon. The CCS to NACS adapters being sold today are for a Tesla to charge at a CCS charging station. What I/we as Rivian owners, more generically non-Tesla owners with CCS charging ports, need a NACS to CCS adapter which are not available yet, at least I can't find them. And why would they be as no one could use them yet, not even GM or Ford.

Great info and Happy Birthday!
Thanks!!
Happy birthday, indeed awesome news eventhough I live a long journey from America
Thanks! Where do you live? What’s the charging situation like where you are?

@@bpcgos well, very interesting, thank you for that information. Looks like we still have a ways to go.
Exciting times!
Let’s hope they move the Nacs to the passenger side
Totally necessary
Sweet!
Could not agree with you more! YES!!!!!!
Thanks!!
What do YOU THINK?? Please subscribe and comment below (birthday present?)
Now will the Rivian network open to Tesla? National Park charging lines to get longer?
Rivian stated earlier on that they eventually plan to open the Network up. Not sure what that means though

Stoked to hear this. How are we going to charge without taking up two Tesla charging spaces?
Yeah. The big problem is the location of the charge port. It’s the wrong corner so Rivian will have to move it to right front.
Is there a video/info coming up with that tent you have on? That’s what I’m really interested in.
Yes, there is! Finished recording just starting editing. Might be a week. Sorry.

Я также думаю, что у Теслы есть довольно большой плюс в том, что их разъем для зарядки станет стандартом.
